A new thread for those waiting on DLA claims as the other one was rather full. @girlmum25

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KodaS · 11/10/2022 10:18

I honestly think they have been passed to handlers who are working to there own case load and it’s just when they get to it, the call handlers do not have a clue they are going off dates they have been told. I got told 3 week my scan date is 27st July but I sent it the 15 so took time to even scan on.

Jhtm · 11/10/2022 10:28

My scan date is the 18th July got told last week it was with the decision maker so currently on hold to see if there is any update

GemNE · 11/10/2022 10:31

Hi everyone, this is my first post but thought I'd update anyone who's anxiously waiting too!
Scan date 5th July so 14 weeks today for us. It's with the DM and no decision as of yet. I'm down for a text and the lady on the phone said they are trying to get all the ones dated before 11th July done this week but that remains to be seen...
It's so stressful waiting isn't it! My son is about to start his EHCP which we stated on the claim, I'm hoping that's enough for a yes.
Good luck anyone else who's waiting

barnsleylass86 · 11/10/2022 10:45

,@GemNE it is so stressful. Anyone ringing today please update would be interesting to see what other call handlers are saying. I'm worried I havnt sent enough in . I only sent statement from teacher. My son was awarded when he was 4 for suspected autism. But was later not diagnosed I never appealed which was stupid . He's now 11 and school decided now was a good time to push again for autism and ADHD. His quirks have worsened and become more apparent. My elder son who's just turned 16 is now on their radar too as they think he may have Asperger's I don't know what to do in regards to him though as high school are no help and trying to get him to see a GP or anything to be honest is impossible.

Jhtm · 11/10/2022 10:50

I have just got though after being told last week that it is with the decision maker o have just been told that it won’t be for another 2 weeks yet, she said they are only on the first few days of July but I’ve seen other people have been told different so I guess it depends who you get through to

barnsleylass86 · 11/10/2022 11:36

@Jhtm Its awful . I know people that have end of july scan dates and have been awarded already. I think it is just pot luck . The not knowing is the worst .If i knew hed been awarded but still had to wait weeks for payment i wouldnt mind as much. I hate calling up too it feels like your being a pest.

HeathenPlayingHouse · 10/10/2022 15:24

New claim, scan date 17th Aug.

Got a letter this morning and my heart started sinking when I saw "We are very sorry...", but thankfully it was just a letter to apologise for the delay.

I'm planning to wait until 1st December to call if I haven't heard anything, it'll be 15 weeks at that point.

@HeathenPlayingHouse our new claim scan date 16th august, not had letter even stating sorry about the delay yet. Nerve wrecking isn’t it? I’m worried she won’t get it as she’s only young 🥲

NotJustAnybody · 11/10/2022 12:57

Just got off the phone for DLA renewals. Was on hold 29mins - call took 4mins.

Sent off on 14/7. Acknowledgement ltr 27/7 for a 14/10 renewal date. Decision made on 7/10.

OMG - been awarded same as before - HRC and LRM! I can't believe it. I never thought he'd get the same. He's older now (obvs) and some of the issues from earlier yrs have gone but new issues appeared. He has Aspergers. Goes to a mainstream school, no SEN. My evidence was a letter from the Dr's and School but was lacking any detail tbh. I really thought we'd be lucky to get MRC only.

Interestingly, he's been awarded for 3 yrs which will take him past 16. I asked what would happen, as I thought they move onto PIP. She said that PIP will automatically get in touch when he's 16 but the award is to cover until that is sorted.

Good luck to everyone else waiting. x

Jodeeplus4 · 11/10/2022 13:30

I have just called, my scan date was 21st July and she said they’re working on upto 11th July and I’m looking at a decision into November 🙄 I mentioned a ‘friend’ had a decision and the scan date was end of July but she couldn’t answer as to why 🙄 so more waiting

Pollyley · 11/10/2022 14:35

Hello. I phoned to check that my additional evidence has been received and she advised that DMs are working weekends to catch up. (My child's still hasn't been done yet and won't be untill his award runs out at the end of the month so for renewals the scan dates mean nothing (June 30th). It's the renewal date that's the important factor. Hopefully I will have an answer in 2 weeks time.

Rose22212 · 11/10/2022 14:48

Scan date 30th of june and still waiting.

Pollyley · 11/10/2022 15:27

@Rose22212 I can't remember if you said yours is renewal or new claim? I am hopeful to find out 1 way or another within 2 weeks

Bunnysarah · 11/10/2022 16:00

Scan date 5th august so getting close i hope! He is only 1 so stressing he wont be awarded but i have sent in a ton of evidence and he has just been diagnosed with a genetic syndrome which requires alot of extra care so fingers crossed

MsSerenity · 11/10/2022 16:34

Hi all. I have been reading your posts recently. They received my daughter's new claim for dla on the 13th July so it'll be week 13 this week. After reading all the posts, I thought best to ring. This was my first time ringing about the claim today. I now wish I didn't. Spoke to a lady called Linda. She was quite blunt. She didn't ask for my NI number or wanted to check an update on my claim. She told me even if they have made a decision, I can still send any additional information in and that was that. She says thanks for ringing, bye. I now understand why claimants say they do not want to ring the DWP. It puts you off. I'm going to wait for any text or letter from them. I know the DWP have a lot of caseloads but there is no need to make people feel small. Don't work in a customer service environment regarding disabilities if you don't want to help people. Sorry. Rant over. Best wishes to all in their claim.

Pollyley · 11/10/2022 17:15

@MsSerenity hiya. They tried to make me feel small too and I explained my reasons for phoning were the additional evidence contains highly sensitive personal and medical information and it's extremely important that it has arrived safely and has been documented with his claim. (Essentially so they can't say it never arrived and isn't included when they make their assessment) she said oh yes I do understand.
Hopefully we will find out soon. I think they have an extreme amount of claims and are under a considerable amount of pressure by the sounds of things.

MsSerenity · 11/10/2022 17:41

Yes I do hope we find out soon too. My daughter is 2 and a half. The SALT therapist said she has sensory needs and possible social communication difficulties. She is currently waiting to see a paediatrician but that can take up to a year. She cannot say any words or point to what she wants which understandably results in frustration and meltdowns lasting hours. I have sent the ECAT sensory needs, the SALT initial assessment and a statement from a close family friend. She only started nursery a weeks ago so it's very early for them to write anything for me. She cannot do full days as it is too much for her so she only does mornings. I hope what I sent is enough but I am going to prepare myself for a MR and will ask my GP to write something as well.

Bunnysarah · 11/10/2022 18:06

@Pollyley hey! Did you send the extra info recorded delivery? X

dandymum · 11/10/2022 18:18

@MsSerenity im in similar boat to you, daughter is almost two, one diagnosed condition and then sensory issues and no communication skills (no pointing etc) we got a letter off our hv saying she supports our claim, so 🤞

Pollyley · 11/10/2022 18:26

@Bunnysarah not sure what type of delivery it was in the end tbh but it cost me almost £8 so I think it must have been some sort of special delivery. Its worth it though as it arrived safely and has been added to the system. So hopefully it helps support dc claim. X

Bunnysarah · 11/10/2022 18:33

@Pollyley yeah i sent some stuff special delivery signed for by someone called deam each time but it was at like 3am.in the morning! Haven't rang yet to see if its been added on.

Pollyley · 11/10/2022 18:44

I would absolutely ring to check and you can sneak in that comment of whilst you are on the call where in the que are you. X

Kits45 · 12/10/2022 05:41

My son has the exact same issues and is the same age (30 months old) he was diagnosed with asd in June but he also has limited eye contact and does not respond to his name or any commands of stop or wait and he is a toe walker so can't really walk far or safely he has been at nursery since 18 months 2 mornings a week which we pay for privately in an attempt to get him interacting with other children but most of the time he plays by himself but he does seem to enjoy going

Jhtm · 12/10/2022 09:31

Any body had an update this morning?

Cass29 · 12/10/2022 10:03

No answers for me yet

sjf19811 · 12/10/2022 10:21
