Primary School Breakfast Club

Jambo93 · 03/04/2019 21:21

Hi, I would be interested to hear:

  • how much you pay for breakfast club
  • is breakfast included
  • what time does it start?

I’m very upset that our primary school has written to all parents to inform us that after Easter (3weeks notice) the cost of breakfast club is increasing from £1.50 to £3!

I should explain that the current club (whilst called a breakfast club) does not provide breakfast. It starts at 8:15. There used to be a reduced rate at 8:30 to £1 however they’ve just informed us that the club will now be £3 flat rate. If they were offering more for the service (such as earlier start or breakfast) I could understand the hike in prices, but they aren’t offering anything. I work part time and pay for club 3 days a week for my children. This will now mean my weekly cost will go from £9 to £18! I am really upset and feel like I have no time to even look for alternatives because it starts straight after Easter. Would be interested to hear what you get and if you have any advice for me, thanks

Used to be £1 but it's free now as they get some charity funding for it in our area. Includes bagels cereals toast and fruit juice I think.

duckduckgoose2 · 03/04/2019 21:25

£3 for 7:50-8:50, with breakfast - much better deal than 815 and no flipping breakfast! How can they have a club with no actual breakfast?

duckduckgoose2 · 03/04/2019 21:26

You might be able to talk to the school about subsidies, if it is the school running it.

Fr3d · 03/04/2019 21:27

£4.25 for 50 minutes, breakfast is included. Privately run on school grounds.

CherieBabySpliffUp · 03/04/2019 21:27

£3, it has slowly increased from £1.50 over the course of around 2 years. It's available from 7:45, school starts at 8:50. Breakfast is provided.

Jambo93 · 03/04/2019 21:28

I know right?! No breakfast and it starts so late that I’m always late for work...
My friend used to pay £2 for her kids as she’d drop them at 8:40 (school starts at 8:55) and she’s get to work for 9, but now as it’s a £3 flat rate, she now has to pay £6!

Can they just do this with 3 weeks notice? It doesn’t give us much time to find alternative ideas. I just can not afford the increase.

£3.50 from 7.30 to 8.45 (juniors) / 8.55 (infants) including breakfast (toast and cereal mainly).

Jambo93 · 03/04/2019 21:30

Thanks everyone, I’m going to research subsidies...does it mKe a difference that it’s an Infant School (Nursery to Year 2)??

£5 for 7.40 until 8.40, but includes breakfast and they often get things like beans on toast and waffles.

SadSackStruggling · 03/04/2019 21:32

Wow. I'm amazed (and very jealous) about these prices.
£6.50 here, extra charge for any ad hoc sessions. As hoc is any session booked less than a week in advance

Shocksandboooos · 03/04/2019 21:33

My school’s it £1. From 7:45-8:55
Includes toast/bagels, cereal, juice/milk and sometimes extras like yogurt or fruit.

Muddlingalongalone · 03/04/2019 21:35

£3.50 here 7:45-8:40 including breakfast.

candlefloozy · 03/04/2019 21:35

Mines going from £4-£4.50 after Easter. Starts at 7:30 until school starts at 8:40 and breakfast is included. A good selection too.

HelenaJustina · 03/04/2019 21:36

£4.50 here for 7.30-8.30 with breakfast. Rates going up from September to £4.75 I think.

BloodyWorried · 03/04/2019 21:36

£6 from 7:30 - 8:45 includes breakfast: cereal, toast, juice and fruit.

hippoherostandinghere · 03/04/2019 21:37

£3 each or 2 for £5, which is what I pay as I have 2 DC. Opens at 7.50-8.45 and they get a choice of breakfast. It's a life saver for me.

HelenaJustina · 03/04/2019 21:37

Oh and no variable rate, you pay the same amount no matter what time you drop off. It’s a nightmare to invoice otherwise!

ceeveebee · 03/04/2019 21:38

£6.50 for 7.45 to 8.25, includes breakfast

MyDcAreMarvel · 03/04/2019 21:38

Jambo93 · 03/04/2019 21:39
