Is SAHM better than childcare? Does no one worry?

In my home country the key discussion topic when mums talk about childcare is the impact of it. What will it do to your child (emotionally, developmentally etc.) if you are a working parent and your child sees you much less? Many parent find that at least one of the parents should be there for more than half of the week. Somehow it doesn't seem such an issue here. Is this true or have I just missed it? Do you worry about the impact of childcare on your baby/child?

my eldest dc were in full time nursery but my youngest have a parent at home and honestly, all are thriving. There are good and bad childcare settings and as long as you choose carefully and wisely based on what suites you and your child it will be fine.

There are also good andbad sahp's - some do nothing at all with their child and that is as bad as a bad nursery because they will not be stimulated. Having been used to nursery for example the older ones were fine when it came to starting school where as many of their friends were sobbing and completely overwhelmed.

Love, care, good food, rest when they need it, attention and time for free play are what kids need imo and this can be given by a nursery, a cm, a nanny, a parent, grandparents......etc
