Been getting pains all evening, just been to loo and wiped and there was bloody discharge (aware could be because of internal) - Consultant was convinced I would be going soon when he did internal today - I am praying that tonight is the night as I am fed up!

Did anyone else have bloody discharge (not a show) pre-labour?

i will let you know, hopefully PG will be back at home soon , and will make it a priority to post on MN

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 05/02/2009 16:08

Oh I'm sure it's all she can think about.

Lulumama · 05/02/2009 16:09

without a doubt

PinkTulips · 05/02/2009 16:25

lulu... if baby has been engaged since before xmas is it a sign of anything other than capsizing pelvic floor muscles that he suddenly seems to be much lower, and my bump is aching and my pubic bone feels like someone has taken a crowbar to it?

[hopeful]

Lulumama · 05/02/2009 16:38

it is a sign you will have your baby

soon

some babies nestle down in the pelvis sooner than other, some need some strong contractions to get them down there. it does not mean much really, i'm afraid, except that you will be walking like john wayne

pgwithnumber3 · 05/02/2009 16:58

Well, I am back! Have come to bed for a rest, baby is lovely, DD2 is pestering her to hell and DD1 is at a party.

Problem I am having is I can't stop feeling very down and crying. I am crying as I type this and although I know it is normal, I want to run away. Sure I will be better tomorrow.

I was 8cm when I got to hospital at 4.15pm, she was born exactly an hour later. Her head popped out after I screamed!

Baby is named

ESME LOUISA! Camille just did not suit her at all, I couldn't see myself calling her it.

Thanks everyone for all your good wishes and I will catch up when I get more chance.

SnowlightMcKenzie · 05/02/2009 17:01

yeah I love tellin people on here that DD's head was 2/5 palpable 45 minues before she apperared!

But if my pelvis is in proportion to the rest of me it is very short and wide, so that's possibly why.

SnowlightMcKenzie · 05/02/2009 17:03

Wow! You're back! Well done and congratulations.

Welcome to the world Esme

SnowlightMcKenzie · 05/02/2009 17:05

Beautiful name and crying is normal!

PinkTulips · 05/02/2009 17:11

pgw3.... sobbing is always well warrented when you're exhausted and emotional. better to have a good cry and get it all out than to put on a brave face and make yourself miserable.

you did fabulously to get to 8cm at home, you must be dead proud!

lulu... have been walking like a cowboy for ages now but today am actually finding walking damn near impossible to do at all

this is going to sound crazy but i swear to god it feels like kung fu panda is bracing himself off the sides of my womb with his legs like some sort of ninja hanging from the ceiling. surely my pelvic floor can't be that bad that the poor thing is afraid he's going to fall out he's also started vibrating in the last hour..... why would he feel the need to vibrate his head like a little mobile phone?????

[sigh] sorry pgw3, i keep hijacking your thread with my angst

hope you're getting some rest while dd1 is out

Lulumama · 05/02/2009 17:13

have a long wallow in the bath to take the pressure off everything.

your baby can;t fall out. he is held in there by the membranes, fluid, cervix etc...

it just feels like you are sitting on his head

keep doing your pelvic floor excercises and try sitting on a birth ball with your legs apart to see if that is more comfortable

PinkTulips · 05/02/2009 17:21

[eyes filthy bath in horror]

wish he would fall out!

[slinks off to scrub bath and follow lulus advice]

Neeerly3 · 05/02/2009 17:42

I LOVE the name Esme! Well done PG3 and let all the tears out. It was a big build up, it's a big deal and you're tired. We'll be here to listen should u need us.

Well done you.....who's next? My moneys on Pink, if she not really in labour, scrubbing the bath will certainly set her off!

ScorpiowithabigS · 05/02/2009 17:49

Esme is a beautiful name!!

Congratulations!!!!

claireybrations · 05/02/2009 17:54

And don't worry about the tears, the teary feeling hit me much faster after ds than dd I remember.

MKG · 05/02/2009 19:13

Welcome to the world Esme!!

sweetkitty · 05/02/2009 19:18

PWN3 (or not anymore) aww poor you I want to come round yours with cake and make you a nice cup of tea and give you a big hug, well done you and congratulations, and Esme Louisa are lovely names) was Esme even on the shortlist?)

pinktulips - I feel your pain completely it's horrid feeling like theres a head in your fanjo, the angst of late pregnancy, theres no feeling like it

psychomum5 · 05/02/2009 19:43

oh how lovely................welcome Esme

PGw3...........tears are quite normal sweetie. tis a crash from the birth (which was very quick in the end), and the hormones leaving, plus I am betting after-pains too!!

rest lots, breathe in baby and her scrummy new-baby scent

pgwithnumber3 · 05/02/2009 20:26

one handed so excuse the shite typing!

Thanks all, feel a bit better now. Still blue but not as bad as i did before. Esme is lovely but just wants to suck atm, all normal but not easy when 2 other DDs to look after. I reallyl hope when milk is in she isn't quite so hungry.

Pinktulips, that is how i felt a couple of days ago so not long for you!

Tips for surviving BFing with two others about

  • cbeebies
  • Disney DVDs
  • box of special BFing toys and books, get the LO to curl up next to you when feeding and feed her dolly
  • remember that sometimes DD3 will have to wait and a few minutes isn't going to hurt her
  • also if you need to unlatch and relatch then that won't hurt her too, my poor DD3 sometimes she has a feed in 3 or 4 goes IYSWIM
  • take a deep breath and remember it gets easier first few days are not what it is going to be like
  • I'm not a fan of routine but sometimes it's needed like for example plan out the feeds around lunch and dinnertimes, I found that whenever I was making dinner or just sitting down to eat it DD3 would want fed so simple things like always feeding before starting dinner helped, it's like the baby gets fed before any other thing you do so wake up - feed then that would last the nursery run, come back feed, feed before lunch, once lunch is over and the other two settled feed, feed before dinner, once DH home and able to look after the other two feed and so on
  • you will get the hang of going out with the 3 of them yourself, knowing how gets in the car etc first, it seems like a huge deal at first but gets better, remember how terrified you were as a mum of two, how you thought you would never be able to leave the house again
  • lower your standards re housework
  • children do not need a bath every day save yourself that chore a few times a week, re clean PJs every night
  • and lastly treasure every single minute with your baby as it goes far too fast especially with the third
