So curious and excited!

OP posts:
Thisismeme · 06/02/2025 16:52

I think I just sat on the sofa and we left him in the car seat for the cats to approach and say hello

popplego · 06/02/2025 16:53

Stared at him in bewilderment that we were now responsible for this tiny human 😂

Elle771 · 06/02/2025 16:53

Had Pate on toast, a glass of red wine ans fell into a coma like sleep for 4hrs!!!!

(It was midnight and he was in good hands with DP!)

shellyleppard · 06/02/2025 16:54

@Thisismeme i did the same......cats scarpered as soon as he made a noise Lol

VegLedge · 06/02/2025 16:54

Sat on the sofa feeling like it was all a dream (had a lot of hurdles to have a baby), then showed the baby all of the rooms in the house!

Butterflyfern · 06/02/2025 16:54

Introduced him to my parents (I was desperate to see them, in a very un-MN way) and went for a shower. Best shower of my life!

intrepidgiraffe · 06/02/2025 16:54

Made a cup of tea!

Trainr · 06/02/2025 16:56

Had a couple of glasses of bubbly, cured meats and pate!! It was heaven!

CrispAppleStrudels · 06/02/2025 16:56

DD1 - came home after a spell in NICU so I just sat with her on the sofa and gave her a massive cuddle as I couldn't quite believe we were home

DD2 - left her with DH to give DD1 a massive cuddle and then my DM a massive cuddle!

Bloodybrambles · 06/02/2025 16:56

I was exhausted. I think I mumbled something to DH about ‘watching her’ and I fell asleep. He woke me up a few hours later when she needed feeding and offered to warm up the McDonald’s we bought en route home.

Snorandrepeat · 06/02/2025 16:56

I did some dusting 😂Had been in hospital for a week and for some reason the dust irritated me ,that was 31 years ago .

Whycanineverthinkofone · 06/02/2025 16:57

Shower. Hot water, privacy, someone watching dc, nice soap and shampoo.

Relocatethecockringsbeforethemormonsarrive · 06/02/2025 16:58

Had a wee sit down. Tiring work giving birth.

PiastriThePastry · 06/02/2025 16:59

Showed him around the farmyard, mufasa/simba style, ‘one day son…’ 😂 I needed to be outside!

TheRookieMum · 06/02/2025 17:00

Ordered pizza and all the sides, as we were discharged about dinner time and neither DP nor I had eaten properly in 2 days. Spent the next 5 days feeding DS almost 24 hours straight (tongue tie) so quite jealous of anyone who had a shower or, god forbid, sleep!

Bunny2006 · 06/02/2025 19:41

I had a very elderly dog at the time with health issues and the change of routine (3 nights in hospital due to long induction) had caused him a bit of distress sadly and he'd gone to the toilet all over the front room, it was squashed in everywhere!!, so I took baby upstairs to change and feed her and partner started the clean up. Came down to help and once everyone was settled, ordered a takeaway and was able to enjoy some and watch what we usually watched on telly on a Tuesday night while baby slept in her moses basket and dog slept his bed next to

ICanTellYouMissMe · 06/02/2025 20:16

Burst into tears at the dawning realisation of what we'd done 😁

UpUpUpU · 06/02/2025 20:19

Laid him on my bed and just stared at him in wonder. Then panicked and thought, shit! What have we done! 😂😂 Then ordered a Chinese takeaway.

Tarkan · 06/02/2025 20:20

It's been a few years with mine. They're 21 and almost 17. Eldest I think I just put them into the Moses basket in the living room and enjoyed sitting on the sofa as I had been in hospital for a few days and hadn't had a comfy seat for a while.

Youngest I was home the same day and the first thing I did was thank their dad for being home to get the delivery of our new TV and set it up while I was in hospital that day. 🙈 Someone had really good timing there. I then sat down and enjoyed watching some TV. 🤣

SpringBunnyHopHop · 06/02/2025 20:21

Family passed her around for cuddles.
Bath and a Chinese. Tucked up in bed at 8pm

Armadillosparkle · 06/02/2025 20:22

Sat on the sofa as it’s wasn’t an hospital bed which is what I had for the previous 3 days and had a moment to relax whilst they were in a car seat and reality started. Had a drink (not alcohol lol) and just paused in the moment watched a bit of tv.

Dollybantree · 06/02/2025 20:22

Let the other dc's greet them and took photos with them all holding new baby (large family!)

Then ordered dh around for a bit, knowing I'd soon have to be "on it" again!

TuesdayRubies · 06/02/2025 20:25

Tried to get some sleep!

MizzMarple · 06/02/2025 20:25

DC1 - stared at him in amazement for ages.

DC3 - got in, sat down on the sofa, noticed DC1 had nits. He got hysterical and insisted I de-nitted him immediately so did that (there had been a LOT of nits at school that year)

DC2 - I have literally no memory of it at all. Poor middle child.

Hiccupsandteacups · 06/02/2025 20:26

Had a shower and a nap and breastfed the baby
