So curious and excited!

I came home before DT’s but when we were all home, we handed DT’s over to grandparents and we went to bed whilst they did the night shift. It was lovely to catch up on sleep, have a long soak in the bath with a large glass of wine!

rufiooooo · 06/02/2025 20:29

Had a shower, I stank!

Springflowersmakeforbetterhours · 06/02/2025 20:30

Dc 3 was born at 6am.. At 3 30pm I collected dc 1 and 2 from school with dc 3 in the new pram!!

Pieceofpurplesky · 06/02/2025 20:30

Got angry as bloody ex mil was there outside and walked in with us. She didn't leave until I screamed at her to! She ruined what should have been a special moment. Exh was a mummy's boy and said nothing.

I think we put dd in the bouncy chair, made a cup of tea and sat there a bit shell-shocked. I had been in the hospital for nearly a week so I was impressed how clean and tidy everything was. Then I remember my BIL and SIL came round. I was a bit cross with DH who obviously told them / invited them. Dd got passed round the room - it all felt slightly unreal.

Had Pate on toast, a glass of red wine ans fell into a coma like sleep for 4hrs!!!!

(It was midnight and he was in good hands with DP!)

Snap!!!

BusySittingDown · 06/02/2025 20:35

The first time with DD1 the whole family visited as soon as we got home. It was all a bit of a blur.

With DD2 we got home at night so no visitors. We let DD1 hold her on the sofa for the first time. DD1 was 3 and she had the biggest, cheesiest grin. She was so proud!

They are 17 and 14 now and still the best of friends.

Burst into tears.

was exhausted, hormonal and overwhelmed.

HiCandles · 06/02/2025 20:36

DS- he went to sleep in the bassinet and we had a cup of tea, and looked at him.
DD- breastfed her on sofa whilst DH tidied the toddler's toys up and made a cuppa.

Cried. She’d been in NICU for 2 months and it was exhausting and overwhelming.

TheGirlWhoLived · 06/02/2025 20:39

I literally handed him off to my husband and went for a blissful 3 hour sleep. I’d been on a very noisy post natal ward for 2 days and had been in labour for 3 days prior to my post natal stay and ended up in an emergency c section

TheSmallAssassin · 06/02/2025 20:40

I remember my husband showing our son around his new home, can't remember whether this was as soon as we got back though. We didn't have a car so my in-laws came to pick us up and take us home, I remember that my husband left my hospital bag behind the car in all our concentration on working out the car seat and it nearly got reversed over!

Frowningprovidence · 06/02/2025 20:41

I showed him all the rooms in the house then sent him to the pub with dh whilst I had a quick nap.

GetDressedYouMerryGentlemen · 06/02/2025 20:43

Introduced him to the neighbours who were all a twitching at the curtains to see him (very unlikely MNs of me but we are good friends with our neighbours and it had taken us almost 10 years so I wanted to show the world the amazing wee thing I had made), ate the fish and chips one of the neighbours had collected for us, waved DH off for a week away DS late arrival and a spell in hospital post delivery meant DH had to report for a week on duty that evening.

Ramblingaway · 06/02/2025 20:47

Breastfed whilst husband cooked steak my mum had delivered to try to bring my iron levels up. And the realised you can"t cut up a steak whilst breastfeeding😂. Husband had to cut up steak so I could eat one handed.

We were both over 40 and still thought we were ridiculously young to be having a baby to look after!

Strokethefurrywall · 06/02/2025 20:50

Left him in the stroller in the corner of the room and sat on the couch with a cup of tea wondering what the fuck we do now.

FortyFacedFuckers · 06/02/2025 20:50

Took him straight out to a big family Christmas dinner

KingscoteStaff · 06/02/2025 20:52

Put kettle on, handed DS to my wonderful mum while I had the best shower in the world.
DH brought the baby up to me in bed, where we both stayed for the next week.

Constantsoul · 06/02/2025 20:52

We got home at about midnight and hadn’t the slightest clue what we were supposed to do. I think we spent most of the night constantly checking he was still breathing!

mandyoh · 06/02/2025 20:53

I vaguely remember walking through my door and bursting into tears when I saw my mum waiting for her first grandchild. Then we ordered a pizza and gazed at this little squish in the middle of the room. When my mum left I remember thinking oh, I’m the Mum now 😂

HippogriffTattoo · 06/02/2025 20:54

Asked each other what to do next and then DS promptly had a massive poo

stayathomer · 06/02/2025 20:54

Brought him up as fast as possible to meet my dad and get a photo (my dad was dying at the time). Was a huge relief to have him meet him (dad lived on another six months after!)

Mielbee · 06/02/2025 20:55

Went straight to bed! It was 10pmpm and I was shattered, not having slept at all since 6am the previous morning when my waters had gone. My DH must have brought her to me for feeds but I honestly remember absolutely nothing about that first night home!
