1 natural with a bad tear - was in 2 nights including labour, they would have kept me longer I think but after not sleeping for 3 days I was begging to go home
1 elective section - was in 1 night

Judgejudysno1fan · 22/01/2024 11:26

1st baby : home after a few days ( I was really struggling with health/afterpains)
2nd baby : home after a couple days as she was born at 37w but very small
3rd baby : home the next day
4th baby : home the next day
5th baby: home the next day, I was ready to go home that day, but she swallowed meconium and they wanted to observe her
6th baby: emergency c section, everyone else was natural, we were both very ill and were in for 5 days after that . Worst labour yet. Natural labour is a breeze compared to being smashed by a train like the c-section after pains.

Three nights after induction
Elcs with 2 and 3 .Went to local cottage hospital to recover with both for 5 nights.
Strongly recommend, before going home and dealing with toddler as well.

Natural birth at 6pm so stayed in overnight.
Friend had natural birth at 11am and was that afternoon.

mindworkingovertime · 22/01/2024 11:28

Edit: friend was home that afternoon

HalloumiGeller · 22/01/2024 11:31

1st I gave birth (vaginal) at 5:27am, and I think I was in for 2 nights. This was because I lost alot of blood and needed to have my iron levels checked etc.

With my 2nd, he was born at approx 21:50 and I stayed that night, then went home the following afternoon (another natural birth).

toomanyleggings · 22/01/2024 11:31

1 st birth I had her at 9 pm and came out 6ish on the Saturday. Would have been sooner but she had a few marks on her face that they thought were a port wine stain ( they weren’t)
2nd had at 11 am and was home by 6pm.
Both vaginal deliveries

Oatsamazing · 22/01/2024 11:32

Admitted 1pm, gave birth 8.18pm, discharged 12pm next day. Natural birth.

toomanyleggings · 22/01/2024 11:32

Meant to say I had first 9pm on the Friday and out by 6pm on the Saturday

Yuckyyuckyuckity · 22/01/2024 11:39

Emergency csection around 9pm ish, didn't get onto the postnatal ward from the recovery suite until nearly 2am as there was a lack of staff for recovery checks/transfer. I was initially told I could go home that day but then the head midwife said they prefer to keep you at least 24 hours after csection which meant I stayed one more night.

I didn't mind too much tbh and that extra time helped me learn breastfeeding tips, ask anything I needed to ask etc. I was also very lucky that there was barely anyone in my area of the ward so there were no noise issues.

Currently pregnant with my second and hoping for a VBAC so will see how the experience compares!

IncompleteSenten · 22/01/2024 11:40

Both vaginal.
A week 1st time (complications)
Second time I took him home the next day.

blackpanth · 22/01/2024 11:42

1st baba was in 5 nights
2nd baba 8 hours then home. Both natural

herbyham · 22/01/2024 11:45

1st birth, vaginal delivery no epidural, I had 4 internal stitches but no complications, delivered at 12:30pm home at 9pm

2nd birth, vaginal delivery no epidural, no complications, delivered about 6am, home about 1pm

SparklyOwls · 22/01/2024 11:47

Natural... Just over 24 hours as recovering from epidural. I told them I was leaving and discharged myself.

gonetogreece · 22/01/2024 11:50

Natural birth and stayed in hospital for two night.. probably didn't need to but I was young and really nervous, wanted to be sure baby was feeding properly.

EnjoyTheMushrooms · 22/01/2024 11:55

Gave birth at 8/9pm, natural birth, was home by about 2pm the next day.

intact · 22/01/2024 11:56

1st birth was vaginal and went home the next day, so around 24 hours

2nd birth c section - again around 24 hours

Alexandra1991 · 22/01/2024 11:59

I was in for 5 days as DD had high 'infection markers' when she was born so had to be monitored and I had to have an iron transfusion. I think I was technically discharged after 3 days and the further two days was for DD's observations.

Tilly0000 · 22/01/2024 12:00

1x vaginal birth over night stay as my mum made me lol i would of been out same day if not

1x c section 2 nights just because I asked for an extra night because I was going home all alone and I was struggling with recovery if I hadn't of asked it would of been one night x

IggOrEgg · 22/01/2024 12:03

Elective C-section, all very straightforward, had DS at about midday on the Friday, finally got to leave midday on the Sunday. I had to stay the second night because he hadn’t pooped so I had to stay put until he did apparently. I was desperate to get home, I was fine and perfectly capable of doing so but the docs and whatnot wouldn’t approve it!

catherinewales · 22/01/2024 12:05

1st emergency section 3 days was supposed to be 5. 2nd emergency section was getting let go same day but needed a test so next day.

Spirael · 22/01/2024 12:09

Not at all. Both times I was able to give birth vaginally at home, in a birthing pool, with minimal complications.

The midwives stuck around for 1-2 hours afterwards, then left me and DH to it.

scoobysnaxx · 22/01/2024 12:10

Induced
Had emergency c section 2 days later (midday)
Went home next day at 3pm

newtb · 22/01/2024 12:13

1/4 dose pethidine arrived at 8:30am dd born 14:10. Thursday. Left Monda y afternoon. 26 years ago.

Pineapplewaves · 22/01/2024 12:19

At my hospital you are allowed to leave six hours after a straight forward vaginal birth.

Because my six hours were up at midnight I was given the option of sleeping on the ward and leaving in the morning or going home in the middle of the night - I chose to stay. DP was allowed to stay too but we had left the car seat at home so he went home and came back with it in the morning.

Unfortunately DC2 swallowed their amniotic fluid on the way out which resulted in a four night stay in SCBU.
