Hi All,
Do you mind guys sharing how long you were at the hospital after giving birth and whether it was a natural birth or c section etc. Many thanks x

Had planned c section for the following week. Went in due to decreased movements (for two consecutive days). Had overnight monitoring and was told that I would be booked in for the next available c section (about 4 pm the next day). Had to stay in for 24 hours after c section so left about 3/4 the following day. Was a really positive experience bar baby not moving about much.

All natural births, first a week in hospital, second five days third six hours.

1st vaginal birth - one week but not because of my physical recovery, because of baby's health then my mental health due to no sleep.
2nd I was keen to avoid postnatal ward and gave birth at the birth centre naturally. However, I don't know when my waters broke so was kept in for 12 hours to monitor for infection.

DC1 - natural labour, ventouse delivery with episiotomy. Baby born 6am, kicked out (or rather “encouraged” to leave) at 7pm that same day. It was far too soon and got us off to a really bad start. I always advise having one night in hospital, especially as a first time parent.

DC2 - elective section, all went well. Stayed for 48 hours after birth. They were happy to discharge me the next day but I wasn’t physically ready at all and asked for an extra night which was a genuine godsend and set me off on a really good footing.

If all is well they are happy to let you go ASAP. And I know some women who desperately want to get home as quick as possible, however if you are wavering at all just know that you do not need to go until you feel ready.

Vaginal birth after induction, internal stitches for minor tears and grazes - baby born on Monday morning at 1am and home by Tuesday 7pm. Offered to stay for further breastfeeding support but baby fed better at home

Admitted to hospital at 11pm, 5cm dilated. Gave birth naturally at 3am. They wanted to discharge at 10am but we needed to wait for a lift, so I left at 2pm.
