FTM how close to your due date did you deliver?

Hi. I'm 39+2 and on maternity. Bored out of my mind and sat around waiting for baby to arrive. I've also moved cities to be closer to family for support.

It is my first child and everyone keeps saying you tend to be overdue when you have your first so wanted to know everyone's experiences. With your first child how early or late did you give birth in comparison to your due date?

On the day itself. I’d been in labour for several days at that point and had completely lost track of the day or time so had to ask what day it was so I knew her birthday.

Dd1 came at 37+3, dd2 at 38+5 and I remember feeling fed up as my first had been so early😂

First time 41 second time 41+1.

My friend had her first at 37 weeks so the overdue thing isn't always true!

My first was born on her due date, my second was born 10 days early.

Day before, pains came on quickly and got to hospital 3 hours before birth, so first births aren’t always long either.

1st time - 2 weeks over induced
2nd time - 2 weeks over induced
3rd time - 6 days over natural
4th time - 5 days natural
All boys , all were happy in situ 😂

3 weeks early with a placental abruption. I had been expecting to go over as most people say first babies are late. I was very unprepared as a result!

DD1 - 5 hours before due date.
DD2 -on her due date ( shame she didn't continue with her punctuality! )

My antenatal teacher said the actual figures for first babies were around:
45% early
4% on due date
51% late

This was several years ago but I don't think it will vary much now - so first babies mostly being late is technically true but not by much!

(DD was one of the 4%!)

DC1 was born on their due date. DC2 was 10 days early.
