Did you get up and dressed for midwife home visits after birth?

Question as above. I'm not sure if you are expected to be up and dressed for these visits or is it okay to be in your pyjamas and even in bed if needs be. Obviously not for all visits, but for the first few is this acceptable?

How does being naked work? I was bleeding for weeks, and leaking milk so needed a bra and breast pads. Wouldn't you get sticky milk all over yourself and have to shower again?

Dressed up? I was naked for the birth when she arrived and I was naked in the days that followed. Mostly in bed.
I was too busy with a newborn.

Yeah right

I don't really own pjs I was just in lounge wear. I wouldnt be comfortable having someone in my bedroom.

I was in the lounge fully clothed.

I was released 3 hours after giving birth so about 10pm. Midwife came round at 10am the next morning.

Late DH let her in, I was in bed asleep with the baby asleep in the cot.

She was lovely came in had a chat, checked baby over, I stayed in bed in my nighty.

The following day when she came, I was on the sofa sipping tea and eating toast, but in joggers , baggy t-shirt and mess bun.

Eventually she did see me dressed and showered but not till about week 2 haha

Well with my first 2 they didn't do home visits - I had to go to the local birth centre for all the postnatal checks so I had to be up washed and dressed!
With my others we'd moved and they did home visits but always up and dressed.

Sitting or laying on towels. I used sticky breast shells to catch milk. Way more comfortable to be naked for me.

On the first night of my first DCs life after being born in late afternoon I remember going to bed and setting my alarm clock for 7am as normal because the midwife said they would try to pop in in the morning. I was kind of on autopilot so I got up as normal at 7am washed and dressed and then didn’t know what to do really. Sat around for the morning, pretty boring actually, then gave up on the midwife at about 2pm and went out for some lunch. Went to see some relatives with the baby and then back home to find a note from the midwife who was cross that we weren’t there. They never tried again so birth was the last time I saw a midwife with that baby.

Yes, definitely up and dressed every day. I remember thinking there was something wrong that I struggled to be done before 8.45 - 9am but I had been breastfeeding all night. I was kept in for three nights and what I remember about the first home visit from the midwife was apologising that DH was outside tinkering with one of his boys toys, and she said she thought it a good idea that things got back to normal. That was in the days before paternity leave.

We had been up and down to the hospital in the days after DD was born. Our first undisturbed day at home we had a midwife visit. We were both in dressing gowns and the first thing she said was that she was pleased to see us both in pyjamas and that’s exactly how it should be! She was lovely and instantly put us at ease.

Weirdly, I’m a big fan of postnatal belly wraps. Takes away the feeling of a weak core and jelly belly. Made me feel much more together, literally, in the early days.

I also asked to go to them rather than them coming to me. With 4 other kids in the house, I wasn't waiting in for somebody to come beeywene 8:30 and 5 🙄
