What was the most memorable thing that happened in the day your child was born?

Apart from your child being born obviously , for example did England win the world cup on the same day?

DD1 was born on my DMs birthday. I just remember the 2hr traffic jam on the motorway I had to labour through. It wasn't comfy.

DD2 was born on Comic Relief. The two events have coincided again once, and she had a fantastic day at school.

Not about my son being born - but my dad always told me that Newcastle United we’re bringing out they’re new signing at the match that day. He had tickets to the match. But my mum went in to labour, so he missed the lot !

I have no idea as I had just had a baby

No idea. But looking back at the day on Wikipedia, not a lot.

My mum however.... She was born as JFK was assassinated.

There was an eventful episode of eastenders on, which I recorded and watched the next week when I got home from hospital

A car crash and subsequent argument outside our house, a teenage girl had borrowed her dads car without him knowing. She managed to crash into the car of a family friend and then attempted to reverse away but couldn't escape as her driving wasnt up to it. The family friend escorted her home to her parents who were not happy (obviously!). It was big news in the village, but pretty sure it was a slow news day to the rest of the world.

• One of my grandmothers died. I got the call when I was 12hrs into my labour.

Nothing happened when my others were born.

That Malaysian airline went missing. I followed the story closely whilst cuddling/feeding a newborn but never found out if they ever found it!

George Best died about 5 mins before my eldest was born

I had a Brie baguette

I did too! It was incredible after 8 months of constant vomiting from HG . It was possibly on if the best presents I have ever had .

Hottest day of the year, one fan on the entire ward.

Obama got elected. I gave a cheer while being examined halfway through my labour because the radio was on.

Then some bugger left a half drunk bottle of coke on my side table (the barbarians who took over the ward visiting the woman across from me) and I got a row from the midwife!

Election Day. Boris won. I did not name the baby Boris

Had daughter at home in the morning. Planned home birth.

At tea time, husband invited door to door salesperson in and spent an hour changing our gas/ electricity/ whatever provider.

I was like ...I gave birth in this room a few hours ago.

One of my DC was born on the day Estonia ratified the European constitution. I know. Glamorous stuff.

One was born on an anniversary of Freddie Mercury's death. I got quite maudlin about this in the post natal period.

With my 2nd DC, the volcano in Iceland erupted.

Just had to google, and it turns out nothing happened.
The biggest news story seems to be the police being called to Boris’s flat after his fight with Carrie. Which explains why I never have any memory of that when it’s referenced.
