Apart from your child being born obviously , for example did England win the world cup on the same day?

It was my best friends mums funeral, baby was premature and I should have been there! Felt guilty even in labour 🙈

With DC1 - he was born at 7.30am after 3 days of labour, I got back on the ward at about 9 and promptly fell asleep for about five hours. So did he :o

My dad turned up for a surprise visit and my friend turned up at the hospital having had contractions at 6 months pregnant and was put on steroids in case the baby was born (it was not). Those are the only things I remember.

With DC2, he was born at 3am, kept stopping breathing and making everyone panic, so he ended up being transferred to another hospital. I spent the whole day asking to be transferred as well until eventually they decided it would be easier to discharge me instead so I did that. Most memorable thing apart from DC2 drama was renting a hospital grade pump from the pharmacy and it turning out to be a relic from the 90s with two speeds, nipple destroyer or jet engine and instructions only in German (I'd assumed it would be a modern brand with instructions I could google!) I had been awake for about 36 hours at this point give or take a couple of naps, and also just really wanted to be with my baby so this didn't go down very well.

I've absolutely no idea about anything that happened on the day my children were born. I was rather busy and very preoccupied on those days! I honestly remember nothing other than giving birth.

waterjungle · 23/09/2020 22:21

Brexit. Baby was born voting day, when to sleep, woke up to my husband telling me the news. I think my words were: I literally cannot deal with that shit at the moment.

TokyoSushi · 23/09/2020 22:21

The News of the World shut down.

BertieBotts · 23/09/2020 22:21

Or is this just data mining for MNers' DC's birth dates?

HiGunny · 23/09/2020 22:22

Malaysia Airlines plane was shot down over Ukraine. I only heard about it when I came out of hospital.

Tsunami, although it was actually the day after.
I remember lying on the sofa with her watching the footage and thinking about how people with babies and children wouldn’t have stood a chance.
It was awful

mizzles · 23/09/2020 22:23

Rather awfully, the Manchester Arena attack.

Rockandgrohl · 23/09/2020 22:23

@JosephineDeBeauharnais

Chernobyl blew up.
I just thought id 'recognised' my first real life person on MN 😳 but you aren't my best friends mum after all 😁
heidipi · 23/09/2020 22:26

The Queen came to town 😁

ivetriedamilliinusernames · 23/09/2020 22:27

A royal wedding...following a weird family tradition, my 2nd birthday was also a royal wedding and my mum was born on the queen's wedding anniversary. I should have put a bet on but my daughter arrived surprisingly at 35 weeks so I was not expecting it to be that date at all!

Bingobongo1 · 23/09/2020 22:31

Dc1 don't know I was to ill.
Dt Claudia Lawrence disappeared and actress Natasha Richardson died both in their prime.

Echobelly · 23/09/2020 22:34

The most memorable thing the day before DS was born was that I was due to have him by planned C-section (due to medical issue) but I actually went into labour, though i didn't know it was labour as I never got there with his big sister, my waters broke at midnight, so it ended up being an emergency c-section 8 hours ahead of schedule, in the middle of the night!

Lurchermom · 23/09/2020 22:38

Not my baby - but I was born on the day the Berlin Wall was coming down Grin

CloudPop · 23/09/2020 22:49

Me too. Wasn't it awful
screamingchild · 23/09/2020 23:29

An amazing super Harvest moon eclipse!

screamingchild · 23/09/2020 23:33

And when my other child was born, the Malaysian aeroplane went missing.

Fatted · 23/09/2020 23:35

It was comic relief the day I was in labour with my eldest. My youngest was born the day before a royal baby. Nothing actually on the day with either I don’t think.

JustAddCoffee91 · 23/09/2020 23:36

Christmas Day happened... I'd just got the best gift ever!!

Wingingitsince2018 · 23/09/2020 23:39

Brexit vote in house of commons

OhTheRoses · 23/09/2020 23:41

@JustAddCoffee91 snap. I was just comjng on to say the same.

anorangeaday · 23/09/2020 23:47

I don’t think anything happened

JustAddCoffee91 · 24/09/2020 07:18

@OhTheRoses I've no idea what I'm doing for his birthday/Christmas this year tho, it's his 1st.. my other little boy was born on the 23rd and I got home with him on Christmas Day... I think I can only create Christmas children 😅
