Was it what you'd packed/planned to wear?

First time, my mum’s nightie! It had buttons down the front so good for breastfeeding. It washed up lovely and I gave her it back!
Second time, starkers.

annlee3817 · 03/09/2018 22:39

I laboured mainly in a loose top and shorts, once my waters went and soaked me I switched to a sleep bra and hospital gown. Then in the water just the sleep bra, got out during the pushing stage, took the bra off and carried on naked. I was hot and bothered and everything that touched me just irritated me.

Tetri · 03/09/2018 22:40

Black nightie

Passthecake30 · 03/09/2018 22:46

I was given a hospital gown for both of mine. I'd never thought this strange up until now?!

MrsBertBibby · 03/09/2018 22:48

An ancient sun dress I bought in student days and wore to my graduation 14 years earlier.

It was a great dress.

firsttimebabybirther · 03/09/2018 22:54

I had packed a bikini top and a cover up as I had planned to birth in the pool but slight change of plans and I ended up in a red vest top which I demanded they cut off me for skin to skin as I refused to use any energy to move Grin

Growingboys · 03/09/2018 22:58

Old shirt of DH's.

Tiptopj · 03/09/2018 23:08

I had a water birth. I wore a bikini top and I'd packed a little wrap around sarong for modesty- ha I didn't get it out of the bag as once active labour had started I didn't give a shit about my modesty!

Pack dark loose clothes and a LOT of comfy black underwear for after. Congratations as well Smile

Notso · 03/09/2018 23:26

I wore the same old baggy t-shirt for all 4 DC!

SingingSands · 03/09/2018 23:29

A tshirt style nightie. Then my waters burst like Niagara Falls and drenched me from head to toe! Changed into a hospital gown then tore it off when I was off my face on gas and air and boiling hot! Blush

OhNoGroken · 03/09/2018 23:31

Strong urge to take all clothes off both times, I don’t even remember doing so except for when my first was born and they found me 10cm at triage and wanted to transfer me but I was busy stripping off and starting to push in their triage room. Subsequent labours have been very similar. I’m normally quite reserved, but I just absolutely had to be naked when I was in labour

BlueBug45 · 05/09/2018 14:38

Cheap Primark nightie

cedartree12 · 05/09/2018 14:48

I went straight to the delivery room when I arrived at the hospital. The first thing I did was to take off all my clothes except my bra!

Luxembourgmama · 05/09/2018 14:50

Nothing

BasicUsername · 05/09/2018 14:56

I had a water birth and just wore a comfortable sports bra. I didn't feel uncomfortable because I felt slightly hidden by the water.

weegiemum · 05/09/2018 16:29

All 3 times started off in t-shirt and joggies. Each time got changed into an old, loose purple nightshirt when I went to delivery. Gave birth to all 3 dc wearing it. It's in a vacuum bag (having been washed!!!!) along with my dc's baby boxes. They're all huge galumphing teens now, oldest just going to uni, but I still keep it. I'm soppy. Or plain weird!

DwangelaForever · 05/09/2018 16:38

I was induced, went in in leggens and a top, got the pessary in, hubby sent home I got a bath and switched into pjs, waters broke everywhere and I switched into a nightie I'd brought, ended up in a hospital gown but don't know if that was due to needing a section or if they changed me into one when I was on the drip 🤔

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 05/09/2018 16:48

I took a big t short with me but both times laboured naked in the pool.

abbie7 · 05/09/2018 19:36

I brought multiple long oversized t shirts prepared for labour but ended up being wheeled through to delivery in just bra and knickers Grin

DuploRelatedInjury · 05/09/2018 19:51

I bought a cheap nightie that could be thrown out both times.

DC1 labour moved very quickly and I was pushing when I arrived so was just in the t-shirt I was already wearing. DC2 decided to turn breech so I wore a hospital gown as I had an elective c-section.

BexusSugarush · 06/09/2018 10:35

Only a nursing bra as we had a water birth! If I hadn't been able to get into the pool all I took was a large t-shirt to wear otherwise.

SiolGhoraidh · 07/09/2018 15:36

Long black vest from Primark. Covered all the essentials most of the time, but easily pulled up and down when I got down to pushing, and for skin to skin post birth.

I was planning to just bin it, but husband took it home and it washed up a treat. Good for breastfeeding too.

Post birth I was in button front nighties and compression stockings. Not a sexy look.

Livinglavidal0ca · 07/09/2018 15:37

Gave birth in the birthing pool but wore a strappy bralette from Primark!

Loyaultemelie · 07/09/2018 16:05

First time a fetching surgical gown and stockings second I bought a lovely birthing nightie and ended up in a scruffy pj top

NoTeaNoShadeNoPinkLemonade · 07/09/2018 16:07

nothing started with a cheap nighty each time (3dc) and flung it off asap
