Am I in labour?

Third baby, 40+5, trying for a home vbac

Previous stillbirth and sections so this is my first 'normal' gestation and labour.

I had a sweep on Sunday and been losing bits of mucus plug ever since, no bloody show though.

I've been getting irregular contractions since midnight, sometimes 1 every 10 mins, sometimes 1 a minute. They take my breath away and I feel like I need to poo with each one. Also have a fair bit of back pain but this is pretty normal for me.

I am constipated and have terrible wind Blush

Could this be labour? Should I take any paracetemol or Fybogel or anything? If I'm going to have a baby tm I'd really like to get some sleep and at the moment contractions are preventing that.

Congratulations slithy, we've been chatting on the September thread. I am so pleased that you had the home birth that you wanted and that your little girl has arrived safely (does sound a little traumatic though!).

MummytoMog · 19/09/2014 07:49

Oh well done!! That sounds amazing and she must really have been ready :) my DS crowned without me realising he was coming which was such a change from my forceps delivery I couldn't quite take it in and just kept shouting 'just catch him, just catch the baby' as I was stood in the middle of the room.

MummytoMog · 19/09/2014 07:50

Also, maybe take some lactulose if things are tender, don't want any shiny black poo of pain.

boobyooby · 19/09/2014 07:53

huge congratulations, glad all went so smoothly for you all. What a lovely surprise for your DS waking up as a big brother this morning. :D

slithytove · 19/09/2014 08:08

Didn't have time to read your full birth description before but wow! So so pleased for you that you got the birth you wanted (almost) even if the pool couldn't be filled etc.; and it's absolutely wonderful that your Scottish/English baby was born on such a historic day (gorgeous name too!) x Thanks
