Am I in labour?

Third baby, 40+5, trying for a home vbac

Previous stillbirth and sections so this is my first 'normal' gestation and labour.

I had a sweep on Sunday and been losing bits of mucus plug ever since, no bloody show though.

I've been getting irregular contractions since midnight, sometimes 1 every 10 mins, sometimes 1 a minute. They take my breath away and I feel like I need to poo with each one. Also have a fair bit of back pain but this is pretty normal for me.

I am constipated and have terrible wind Blush

Could this be labour? Should I take any paracetemol or Fybogel or anything? If I'm going to have a baby tm I'd really like to get some sleep and at the moment contractions are preventing that.

Well I slept around 5, and woke up at 7 having been woken up by the pain of 2 contractions. Not had any since. So it seems to be very stop start, but certainly a start.

Lost more mucus plug too but no bloody show.

I just hope this doesn't last for days, I'm exhausted. Hoping I can get my mum over to watch DS so I can have a decent sleep.

Not a single contraction since half 7, think I'm in for a few nights of misery.

Oh slithy it will probably get going overnight again so try to rest when your toddler naps as much as you possibly can. One word of warning, stop start labours can move quite quickly once they truly get underway.

ByeByeButterfly · 17/09/2014 13:27

It will come.
At leas
T it's going in the right directoon.

Mum is here DS sitting so I had a 2 hour hap, woke up with contractions again! Tailed off now so I'm having some lunch.

I really hope things ramp up soon. Have a sweep scheduled tm so maybe that will tip me over the edge.

Fell asleep around 1 contracting mildly, woke up at half 3 with very painful contractions, been going every 7-10 minutes since then. Desperately need a poo but can't seem to go, and just wiped and had blood (pink) streaked mucus for the first time.

It hurts, I'm scared, and I want to curl up and cry.
Just woken DH for tea and cuddles because I don't want to do this alone. Which is stupid because if this isn't it, he needs to be at work tomorrow.

Good luck luvie sounds like things are happening xxx

startwig1982 · 18/09/2014 05:31

Sounds like something is happening. Maybe try having a couple of paracetamol and or a bath. Waking up DH is fine regardless of whether he needs to go to work or not! Your need is greater than his,

slithytove · 18/09/2014 06:17

In the bath now. Got in during a contraction, instant bliss.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 18/09/2014 06:26

Ooh it all sounds very promising! Enjoy your bath.

AndIFeedEmGunpowder · 18/09/2014 06:29

Oh good luck slithy! you are doing brilliantly. Smile

slithytove · 18/09/2014 06:31

Thanks Grin bath hasn't stopped the contractions so this may be it. Going to call midwife and get DH to inflate pool when I'm out. Does it matter they are no closer than 7 mins each?

I get the feeling once my waters go it's going to be quick.

Hopefully you'll be cuddling your new bundle of joy by now or very, very soon. Smile

WottaMess · 18/09/2014 07:21

Just wishing you all the best. Sounds like a good plan to get the pool ready I found it so helpful during labour and really didn't want to get out. Wink

Whereisegg · 18/09/2014 07:48

Wishing you all the best Flowers

Missymoomum · 18/09/2014 08:00

Good luck! I was reading your post yesterday but wasn't able to post. Sounds like it's definitely it now! Hope it goes smoothly and is as painless as possible - exciting!!

slithytove · 18/09/2014 08:00

Midwife has just been and confirmed baby is coping well, still only early labour as contractions are ten minutes apart, but that could all change very quickly. Pool being inflated as we speak and I need to send mum out to get a tap connection for the hose! Tens machine is working wonders though.

Think this one might be a long wait!
