... how do you know??? Did you ask?

I never asked and nobody said so I'm sticking my fingers in my ears, singing lalalalala and assuming that I didn't.

I didn't poo, but I did a fart that could be heard in the next ward, right in my MW face. the poor woman, i was mortified even tho in pain

chocolatemummy · 17/09/2006 13:54

oh its much worse than that honey

JoolsToo · 17/09/2006 13:54

I'm pretty sure I did with ds1. I had an epidural so was fully aware and when the midwife said 'oops' on one of my early pushes I assume she meant that.

who cares anyway?

chocolatemummy · 17/09/2006 13:57

oops wrong thread two very similar lol, I did and I was on all fours, imagine how embarrasing that was!!!!

lucykate · 17/09/2006 13:58

i didn't poo during either of mine, dh would have told me if i had as he was down the business end. but both labours started with a really bad upset stomach so i guess by the time i was pushing there was nothing else left to come out. if i had pooed, it wouldn't have bothered me though.

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 17/09/2006 14:17

I didnt!

I did have enemas though

I was my friends birth partner and she did poo! She kept asking me afterwards if she had and of course I swore that she hadnt....

VeniVidiVickiQV · 17/09/2006 14:32

Ah, see i know i did, but that is because i got up, about 3rd of the way through, and insisted on gonig to the toilet - much to the MW's horror - and DP's - because he was made to come with me 'just in case'

Gave my contractions a real boost after though....

Gingerbear · 17/09/2006 14:36

I had horrendous pooptastic runs before I went into labour. I am sure that is what started me off. I never got to the final stages of labour though, emergency c-section in the end. I would have probably pebbledashed the room if I had

PrettyCandles · 17/09/2006 14:50

Nobody has told me that I did, either time - so I choose to believe that I didn't.

OTOH, I did (ahem) 'break wind' while the midwife was stitching me - poor thing!

LovelyKay · 17/09/2006 14:50

Blimey, am very impressed at everyone's delicacy. I looked like a George Romero extra (you know the zombie films?) all blood and shit everywhere.

Read in one book later that one shouldn't worry about this sort of thing as it is very common and the MW will quickly clean anything away with a tissue. A tissue? Hahahahahahahaha. Bath sheet maybe....

MoreSpamThanGlam · 17/09/2006 14:55

after I had CS with ds, my dh was standing next to me (ds in arms) as I was being sewn up. i said to DH that i thought baby had done first poo as it smelt vile and to check blanket he was wrapped in. He said "no darling - thats you".

Midwife said not to worry, very common as loads of squishing of organs during delivery.

I was mortified.

fussymummy · 17/09/2006 14:58

With each of my labours i always started off by going to the loo loads!!!!!!!!!

Obviously my bodys way of getting rid of the CRAP (quite literally!!)

Just before the babys head came out, i remember having the sensation that i was going to poo, but one of my sisters had pre warned me about this.

kittywits · 17/09/2006 14:58

I knew each time, it was obvious. I could feel it and the smell wsn't that great either sorry if tmi!!

Blandmum · 17/09/2006 15:01

this is such a great place

gladbag · 17/09/2006 15:09

To be honest I have no idea. I was very worried about it beforehand, but once labour was well established I really couldn't have cared less. I was was far too busy making cow noises and obsessing over the gas and air to notice. I assume I probably did, as I didn't have a 'clear-out' beforehand, but I never asked and prefer blissful ignorance. Dh stayed with me up at the non-business end, and was thoroughly traumatised by the whole affair, so is no use on the details.

Charleesunnysunsun · 17/09/2006 15:09

I did, i knew becuase it's poo you know it smells

DP and MIL who were in the room never mentioned it, DP claims he didn't realise. My mom on the other hand find's it hilarious!

WeaselMum · 17/09/2006 16:33

Definitely didn't - had a bit of a "clearout" a few hours before ds was born, and I delivered in the water. There was a sieve in the room and it was never used! Afterwards was pleased I hadn't but tbh at the time I don't think I would have cared.

bananaloaf · 17/09/2006 16:41

i did and knew about it. i was desperate to have a poo and i know that was just the head. wasnt much just a rabbit pellet

cece · 17/09/2006 16:42

I know I did with Ds as his first few picture he has a nice brown smudge on his shoulder.

sunchowder · 17/09/2006 16:49

That is all I thought about Soupy--10 centimeters and crapping. I know I didn't crap because I am sure I would have been able to at least smell something!!!! I also did not have a drop of milk leak out either (I didn't breastfeed).

Judy1234 · 17/09/2006 16:51

It's why they used to do the enema (and also shaving) as standard and still do in some countries, not that I think that's necessary. There's nothing wrong with a bit of mess. People get too uptight about these things.

flutterbee · 17/09/2006 17:03

I well and truely emptied my bowels before going into labour so was pretty confident I wouldn't and DH said I didn't.

However I did manage to wee for England, I kept saying I need a wee so the MW bought over a bowl for me to wee in popped it under and started weeing, and weeing and weeing and weeing, the bowl filled up and O kept weeing I just couldn't stop. The MW eventually said she was going to pop a cathiter in as their was so much, after I eventually finished the MW told me she had never seen so much come out of one person.

I have no idea where it all came from.
