... how do you know??? Did you ask?

I never asked and nobody said so I'm sticking my fingers in my ears, singing lalalalala and assuming that I didn't.

i pooed with dc2, didnt know till the next day because dp didnt want to embarrass me!!

scotchick · 17/09/2006 11:11

see my post re kitchen roll on previous thread! I think there may have been an odour, but maybe I've made that up!

3andnomore · 17/09/2006 11:12

lolololol....I know I didn't with my es, but then, my labour started by a bad bout of diarhoea (sp?) and I probably had nothing left in my gut by the time I gave Birth.....with ms, I didn't realsie I had done, but found out at one point, dh told me, and with ys, I know I did because I knew there and then, lol! NICE

CristinaTheAstonishing · 17/09/2006 11:12

I didn't poo but then tore very badly, maybe too uptight?

SoupDragon · 17/09/2006 11:12

Oh, deep down I'm fairly certain that I did but because no one said it clearly didn't happen.

mws recommend having a sieve if you have a home waterbirth - removes any material in the water.
Ugh. Didn't ask, didn't look.

SoupDragon · 17/09/2006 11:13

But Cristina, how do you know?

OP posts:
WideWebWitch · 17/09/2006 11:13

oh clearly didn't then sd!

intergalacticwalrus · 17/09/2006 11:13

DP told me that I had, and I was mortified.

On DS's 1st birthday, he told me that he lied. The bugger.

SoupDragon · 17/09/2006 11:14

Yes, MW had a seive with BabyDragon's homebirth but clearly that was for other stuff and nothing pooey at all.

lalalalalala

I wasn't in the water second time when dd was actually born (laboured in water) but did have a sieve on standby. God, I do find it all gross

MissChief · 17/09/2006 11:15

dh didn't want to throw the sieve away afterwards. Thought it was wasteful!

I know because DH told me. Also, poos tend to smell, don't they, you'd know if you did. I don't know about waterbirths, maybe the water masks the smells.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 17/09/2006 11:17

MissCheif - you are joking?

pupuce · 17/09/2006 11:18

Fundamentally unless you know for a fact that your bowel is empty (hence the enema years ago) you will poo in labour as it blocks the exit.
Good MWs are discreet about this as they see it all the time and it's no big deal (at least from THEIR point of view)

I think every woman I have evere supported through labour has pooed... at least no one that I can remember didn't.

MissChief · 17/09/2006 11:18

unfortunately not! Mw managed to persuade him it might be for the best - we're still a sieve down though.

PinkTulips · 17/09/2006 11:18

had the runs for 2 days before dd so pretty sure i had nothing left to come out!

no idea for ds, don't think so but don't think dp would be cruel enough to tell me if i did.

pupuce · 17/09/2006 11:19

Cristina - no not all poos smell and I am fairly sure some women had no clue they had pooed.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 17/09/2006 11:19

Lol Pupuce, is that how you chose your name?

scotchick · 17/09/2006 11:20

Imagine if Gillian McKeith burst into the room with her tupperware dish! She knows all there is to know about smelly/not smelly poos!
