I always read on here how tea and toast was given to them after they had their DC and it was like the food of the gods..

I was really looking forward to it!!

I didn't get it!

About 4 hours later my mum brought me a tuna sandwich (which was amazing anyway Wink)

Then with DD2... I didn't get it again.

Have I sorely missed out and am I the only one??!

I had lemonade and an ice lolly straight after delivery, then the most delicious three course dinner ?? Soup, veggie pasta and then pavlova. And then a chocolate pudding too which the midwives brought me.

It was fabulous.

Got tea and toast after DD1. Food of the gods.
I had Pre eclampsia with DD2. Rule was no food or drink for 24hr after induction. So no tea, toast or even water until the next day.

jezzasjockstrap as in no food or drink for 24 hours after giving birth???????

How did you last that long without flagging down a passing scabby horse?

You poor thing.

I got nothing. They were so short staffed I was left on my own for over an hour - didnt even get help to clean myself up. It took me threatening to remove it for them to come and give me some pain killers and take my drip out so I could change. Eventually they came and took me back to the ward where I passsed out in the bathroom. Sad

The maternity unit was closed shortly after due to unsafe levels of staffing

First dc got back at 5am to pn ward and awhile after they bought me breakfast with tea and toast. This time with 2nd dc had tea and toast during birth and again afterwards, tea and toast during birth unfortunately came back up again in transition!

PastaandCheese yes I agree, the toast after birth to me was good because it was really all over, placenta out, stitches done, blanket over me, DH holding the baby...ahhh.

Sucks some don't get any, it can't be particularly expensive, we're not talking high quality artisan bread and organic tea made with the tears of angels here!

In the birth pool having DS there was a crisis halfway through when the delivery suite ran out of gas and air... For about 40 minutes in transition they were frantically trying to locate some while I sucked on a mouthpiece connected to nothing, "to keep my focus" apparently Hmm, then they found the one they had they couldn't open, or something. Three midwives in a flap.

Consequently to make up for it they toasted me an entire loaf Grin
