Being induced today (39+1), eek!

I'm terrified. Please hold my hand!

Being induced because blood pressure is high and they found 1+ protein in my urine. I also have a UTI (not sure if that makes a difference).

Baby is a boy (according to 2 sonographers. I'm 39+1 today.

DH is with me. Am on my way home to pick up my hospital bag, then back to ante-natal ward. Eek!

Sorry to hear that Violet that must be gutting. I was all excited there for a minute. Stay positive though things can change really quickly!

Citybaby · 12/12/2013 20:37

All this will be worth it! Just focus on the bundle of joy you will be holding soon! If he's born today his birth date will be 11/12/13, that must be lucky! Xx

Still waiting...

can you hear what they're saying? I hope something happens soon for you

violetbean · 12/12/2013 20:48

No, sent DH to ask for paracetamol and he says they seem to be handing over. Contractions still every 3 min or so but am in more pain now because of examination I think.

Try and stay off the bed and keep upright walking round or bouncing on the ball Smile

Gosh. Well that was an eventful night! About to write what happened, may take a while though Grin

So... contractions started ramping up around 9pm and I went from vaguely 'in control' of the pain (through active birthing techniques) to screeching at DH that I couldn't cope and to get me ALL THE DRUGS. Grin

I was making a lot of noise at this point and DH suggested I try some gas and air to take the edge off. I grabbed the mouthpiece and took a few huge breaths in.net

violetbean · 13/12/2013 14:38

oops sorry press send too soon, also ignore the .net, stupid phone!

pudseypie · 13/12/2013 14:52

ooh leaving us all in suspense! !

MichaelFinnigan · 13/12/2013 15:20

Then what?????

violetbean · 13/12/2013 15:21

Anyway, grabbed the mouthpiece, took some breaths in and then yelled 'waters!' at DH as a massive tidal wave of waters soaked the bed (and my dressing gown). DH thought I was asking for a glass of water, until he realised what had just happened. Grin He started trying to save my dressing gown from the worst of it mmm, pointless while more and more waters gushed out. Totally out of it on the entonox, I screamed at DH 'go and tell them my waters have gone!!!' He scuttled off and a midwife came into the ward 5 mins later, looking a bit bemused at the lake the bed had now become. 'Yes, does look like your waters have gone. Let's get you down to labour ward.'

'Arghhhhhh' I bellowed, over and over. Contractions were probably about 30 seconds apart by now. DH gathered our many bags and suitcases half the house we'd brought in as our hospital bag and they wheeled me down to the labour ward. DH tried to start wheeling the gas canister alongside the wheelchair Grin and they just laughed and said erm, no, sorry, but there'll be some when we get down there!

violetbean · 13/12/2013 15:25

So we got down into a room in the labour ward and a lovely midwife greeted us and handed me the gas and air for the next contraction. She examined me and said I was 7 cm dilated, but that something felt odd and that she thought the baby might be breech!
