I'm booked in for an induction this friday, first baby, and no idea really what to expect. In an ideal world, going in with an open mind is preferable. But in practice I'm probably going to be prone to losing it Blush

I'm currently 37 weeks, but measuring 41 weeks with Polyhydramnios, large baby with enlarged abdomen, plus being back to back Hmm

So, what should I expect? What was your experience?

Be honest, I can take it Confused

Well done Mcphee, have been keeping an eye out ever since that Jubilee concert thread.

ButtonBoo · 29/06/2012 18:10

Same as me!! Don't you just want to say 'told you all and if you'd listened to me last wk we wouldn't have had to have gone through this'!!?!?

Like I said, as awful as it was, now you've got your baby, it doesn't seem to matter. The minute she was born, I'd have done my crap induction all over again in a heartbeat.

So so happy for you McPhee

reastie · 29/06/2012 18:11

mcphee exactly what happened to me too, although thank goodness they didn't put me through second attempt. I'm glad it's all over for you now though and agree completely with button

surfmama · 29/06/2012 18:12

Somersaults · 29/06/2012 19:51

Aww Mummy McPhee I'm so pleased for you and so excited! And really proud of you even though I don't know you! I've been out all day so not been able to check until now but I kept wondering and thinking about you

And you, Molly Victoria, welcome to the world. At last! We've been waiting a week for you, y'know!

ShhhhhGoBackToSleep · 29/06/2012 20:44

Congratulations McPhee!

HenriettaChicken · 29/06/2012 20:58

Yay!!! I always loved the name Molly. Grin

McPhee · 29/06/2012 21:03

Thanks for all your congratulations :-)

We've had three successful breastfeeds!!! It seems molly has read her instruction manual, and has instinctively known what to do. She's also had two dirty nappies, and haha my sister got the first pleasure ;-)

DP has just gone off home now, so its only me and Molly....eek. It feels weird. Its not quite sunk in yet that she's really here.

Aw big congratulations. Glad lil Molly is here at last. Make sure you take it easy now and most of all enjoy xx

5madthings · 29/06/2012 21:10

YAY CONGRATULATIONS!! Grin welcome to the world little Molly :) glad the feeding is going well, enjoy these newborn snuggles and hope your recover asap xxx

ButtonBoo · 29/06/2012 21:26

Am so glad the breastfeeding is going well!!

So...just you and your daughter tonight! I barely remember our first night, but I remember opening my eyes the next morning and before even turning over to look at her, the biggest smile broke out across my face. DP was waiting outside the hospital first thing, waiting for them to let him in at 8am.

Re recovery - take it slowly, walk little and often and ask for some lactulose each day and night. The first poo (sorry TMI?!) is a bit scary post cs.

Sleep well Mummy! Sleep well Molly! x

PandaSpaniel · 29/06/2012 22:04

What buttonBoo said about poo.

Really cant stress enough that u need to take it easy. Pottering about is fine but no long walks or house work for a while. Make the most of it.

I had DS2 by c section 16 weeks ago and am fully recovered so its not forever but I still like to get my DP to run around after me he he.

McPhee · 30/06/2012 02:46

I'm still laying here awake, even though I'm totally shattered. Molly was retching earlier, which the midwife said was more than likely mucus. Only now I'm too flipping paranoid to take my eyes off of her.

OP posts:
reastie · 30/06/2012 06:12

mcphee I had forgotten until you said it but DD did that retching thing for her first couple of days too - it really freaked me out but mws just shrugged and said mucus to me too. Hope bfing is still going well.

ButtonBoo · 30/06/2012 07:06

Morning McPhee! Morning Molly!

Molly - sounds like you are still keeping your mummy on her toes?!

McPhee - with a cs, because the baby doesn't travel down the birth canal it doesn't get 'squeezed' in the same way as vaginal births so the mucus isn't pushed out as it should be. It will clear. Molly prob hasn't figured out how to cough yet so you have to imagine having a lot if fluid in your pipes and not instinctively swallowing like we would. DD did this for the first few days. She'll be fine.

Are you expected up and about this morning? If your catheter hadn't come out yet, don't worry, it's completely painless and feels more like the relief you feel when you've been busting for a wee.

Bet DP is eagerly waiting to get back in to see you both. Either that or he's still completely zonked and sleeping for England!

McPhee · 30/06/2012 07:21

Yeah, that's how the midwife explained it. Infact, since I last posted she's managed to get a lot of it up.

I've already been turfed out of bed, catheter gone, and yep that stung.

Heck I'm sore.

OP posts:
ButtonBoo · 30/06/2012 08:10

Glad she's getting all that sticky stuff up. Bet you're spending hours just staring at her?!

Glad you're already up and about. Gently, gently though. And get DP to get you an egg mcmuffin. God knows you've earned it!!!
