I'm booked in for an induction this friday, first baby, and no idea really what to expect. In an ideal world, going in with an open mind is preferable. But in practice I'm probably going to be prone to losing it Blush

I'm currently 37 weeks, but measuring 41 weeks with Polyhydramnios, large baby with enlarged abdomen, plus being back to back Hmm

So, what should I expect? What was your experience?

Be honest, I can take it Confused

I was 2 weeks late with my son. Was a bit of a blur though....wernt positive on datea as didnt know i was expecting until around 21.weeks..:-\
anyway..went to hospital at 8am. Baby was back to back too so was put on monitors etc for a couple of hours.
Gave me a pessary at 10am ish. 15 mins later startwd having contractions. Half hour after that they were really strong and were peaking again before they subsided.
Tried to have a bath...but was on crutches with bad spd and hips so was hard to get in and out. Had a bit of a panic when i thouht id wet myself all over the bed....thankfully was my waters.
After that i asked for some pain relief. The contractions were backtoback and jad been for hours by this point. Tried a puff of gas and air...hated it. Sp the nurse offered me a paracetamol.....evidently the woman had never been through labour!! :-P
i was examined at 6pm ish and was 2cm....but the pain was getting worse ao i was taken upto delivery.
ds was born at 7.24pm. The pessary made me dilate ao quickly once i got past 2cm. Only took45 mins! Just as i started pushing he twisted so wasnt back to back when he came out.
im not going to lie...i thought it hurt...alot...but i did it without pain relief. I dis tear quite badly...but i think part of that was down to both the facts that i couldnt move and get into a good position...and because thw last bit was quite fast. I only pushed for 45 mins or so i was very lucky. Dont fret though....i can be quite a wuss..and id do it all over again. :-)
Hope ot all goes well for you. Even though its not the most plesant experience
