I'm booked in for an induction this friday, first baby, and no idea really what to expect. In an ideal world, going in with an open mind is preferable. But in practice I'm probably going to be prone to losing it Blush

I'm currently 37 weeks, but measuring 41 weeks with Polyhydramnios, large baby with enlarged abdomen, plus being back to back Hmm

So, what should I expect? What was your experience?

Be honest, I can take it Confused

How you holding up McPhee?? Did you manage to get your egg mcmuffin yet? DP ordered a pizza for me during my induction. Was so sick of hospital slosh food!

Sound advice from button

I've had some sad news tonight about a family member. My mum came over to tell me before anyone else did. So, not too good tbh. I'm so upset that she never got to see my baby. She's wanted this for me for years, and now I can't share it with her. It was bad enough that nan passed before I knew I was expecting, and now this as well :-(

Oh lovey. So sorry. Really feeling for you.

She'll be holding your hand when LO finally makes his/her entrance.

Stay strong.

Somersaults · 27/06/2012 22:11

So sorry McPhee. She'll know and be so proud of you.

McPhee · 28/06/2012 03:31

Morning McPhee. DS's 13th birthday today, a good day for a baby to be born. x

ButtonBoo · 28/06/2012 06:47

Morning McPhee. Hope you're ok?

reastie · 28/06/2012 08:10

oh mcphee Sad what a tough week for you. Hope things go OK today, will keep checking how things go ( if you manage to update)

McPhee · 28/06/2012 08:21

A friend of mine who is a midwife up here has come back today after her holiday. She's just been in to see me, has gone off to read my notes and promised to get me sorted today. I finally feel a bit of hope looming.

Plus I've had a good cry which helps

How's DP bearing up McPhee? He must feel really helpless. Sad

ButtonBoo · 28/06/2012 09:05

Yep, a good cry always helps!! Good that you've got a friendly face there too. Is she allowed to look after you (being a friend)? That'd be more reassuring for you I'm sure.

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 09:10

Are the midwives ok with your friend coming in and taking over? Actually, they may not notice. Sad

Somersaults · 28/06/2012 09:28

I had a midwife friend present at DD's birth and at first they didn't want an extra body in the room but once they realised she was a midwife they were happy to let her in. She didn't get in the way or step on any toes but I was so reassured having her there knowing that she could advise me on anything or talk to DH about things if I was unable to speak for myself. U think it'll be fine as long as she doesn't try to take over delivery or anything like that!!!

Rollersara · 28/06/2012 09:56

So sorry to hear about the family friend McPhee :( . DP's gran died days before DD was born. We took some photos the day she was born and got them printed in time for the funeral so one copy went in the coffin and his grandad had the same one in a frame.

Hope everything gets moving for you today Thanks

McPhee · 28/06/2012 12:17

DP is clearly anxious coz he keeps cracking crap jokes! He turns in to a silly 12 year old when he's not coping.

My friend has enlisted her most gentle midwife to see to me today. So I've had the first pessary, and it didn't hurt one bit. I'm back on the ward now, and due for next pessary at half four.

Fingers crossed for cervix action.

mcphee you sound a bit more positive in your last post [hopeful]

5madthings · 28/06/2012 13:11

glad you have a lovely midwife friend who has managed to help! sending cervix opening vibes your way, come on little Mcphee you have an audience waiting to meet you! and a mummy who says your cooking time is up!

hope you are managing to rest and fingers crossed things get moving now, i know it sounds trite but i had a similar experience with my ds1, failed induction twice and then i went home for a bit before going back in and doing it again, it did finally work! he will be 13 this summer! and yes it was a nightmare at the time, but i went on to have 4 more! and he was so totally worth it, as your little one will be as well. thinking of you xxx

sparkybabe · 28/06/2012 13:41

McPhee - I followed your last threads, (lurking only) and the last one finished with you going in last friday! I really thought you'd have had Little Mc by now, Sad that you haven't.

Am watching with huge interest!

ButtonBoo · 28/06/2012 15:50

Glad you got a gentle mw this time round. Makes a massive difference doesn't it?!

God, I hope this lot of gel starts you off...

Somersaults · 28/06/2012 19:17

Pessary at 4.30... It could all be happening now! I really hope that no news is good news :)

ButtonBoo · 28/06/2012 19:27
