24 hours

6 Days!!!! First contractions on Saturday night and on Friday dd was born. The problem was that her head was flexed and she was looking up, so she didn´t fit through the pelvis but my body tried to get her down there until the doctor decided that I should have an cesaerean. And all I wanted was a nice waterbirth without drugs... haha!

JennyLee · 02/02/2006 22:37

24 hours, was fine, not tears no stiches

jellybrain · 02/02/2006 23:23

DS1 35 hours of pain though apparently not in labour as not diLATED.

DS2 2HRS 35MINS

dd 1HR 20MINS.(there really is a God after all)

The long labour was easily the most painful or at least I rember it that way possibly because I was so knackered and stressed by the end of it. I was only going to have one then the memory of the pain beacme less intense. Then came no2. Midlife crisis nearly 40 better have another... so came no.3

Twiga · 02/02/2006 23:58

54 hours ending with emergency section for failure to progress - hoping number two will be quicker and less stressful!

ghosty · 03/02/2006 00:04

Same as Twiga except I did an extra hour (ner ner ner ner ner!!! )

(DD was 15 hours finishing with a CS ... definitely a lot shorter and most definitely less stressful Twiga ... because I was mentally prepared for the possible CS so it was no bother when it happened ... HTH )

I had been in hospital for 1mth I had an induced labour, 4 weeks early, due to Pre-eclampsia. Had 2 doses of Prostaglandis. Started heavy contractions at 11:00pm Total "observed" labour 6hrs 44min Had baby boy at 11:42am. Total birth time 6hrs 44mins.
Hopefully wont have to be induced with the next one. Too much hard pain. But was all worth it I have an extremely gorgeous baby boy.
Just deffinately wont be in the same hospital.

RedZuleika · 03/02/2006 08:46

About 72 hours, including a long latent phase (when it sure as hell felt like labour, but my cervix wasn't doing anything) and a four hour second phase.

Wee girlie had turned from a previously beautiful LOA position to a foolish LOP position, with her head deflexed. She was eventually born by emergency Caesarean.

As soon as the spinal block took effect, I started to fall asleep on the operating table - much to the anaesthetist's concern...

treacletart · 03/02/2006 08:58

Less than 4 hours from that feels a bit like period pain twinge. Made for an unplanned home birth.Would have been quicker if Midwife had got to me sooner. Bit worried about how quickly number 2 would come!

madmarchhare · 03/02/2006 10:17

On and off for a couple of days.

Admitted, then 24 hours later.

shelley85 · 03/02/2006 10:20

37 minutes, contractions started after my waters broke and i only just made it in to the hospital.

dublindee · 03/02/2006 10:57

Thursday 24th Feb 05: Twinges and a show at 12pm but still not convinced I am in labour as it's our first baby and I'm clueless! Bearable pain off and on all day (just like period pain) then slept for 11 hours!!!

Friday 25th February 3pm: Pains start getting bit stronger so am a bit more convinced I'm in labour at this point - but waters not broken so still a bit doubtful

Friday 6pm: I walk around lanes at back of house with DP to get me moving more quickly and then stop at chippy for curry chips on way home (curry is supposed to help!)

Friday 11pm: Taken to Wrexham Maelor and pronounced 5cm dilated - all starts to sink in...

Friday midnight: Am on gas and air hanging over side of bath giggling manically with DP looking very amused sitting beside me on a chair!

Saturday 26th February 2.30am: "GIMME DRUGS NOW!" cue pethadine shot and coaching from midwife on how to blow out the candles at the top of the hill - don't ask!- wanted to crush those fecking candles by the end of it!

Saturday 6am: "GIMME MORE DRUGS NOW!" cue 2nd pethadine shot

Saturday 10.30am: "OK, I'M GONNA KILL SOMEONE IF THIS PAIN DOESN'T GO AWAY!" Cue epidural and me turning green as I sit up to get it inserted as I thought baby would explode through bed and onto floor. Anaesthetist kept explaining what she was doing so I snarled "Don't tell me just do it!"

Once it was in I slept for 2 hours and then woke up and started pushing.

Baby Matthew was born by ventouse at 3.22pm weighing 9lbs 1oz and I can't believe it's almost a year ago!

Would do it all again tomorrow

susanjayneh · 03/02/2006 13:54

Susan

Mum2Ela · 03/02/2006 14:02

2.5 hours. Hurrah!

Lonelymum · 03/02/2006 14:31

From waters breaking until birth of baby, about 44 hours but only about 9 hours of actual labour pains.

Littlefish · 03/02/2006 19:04

54 hours of contractions! But my waters didn't break until about 20 minutes before she was born.

7 1/2 hours first contraction to finish (second labour 2 1/2 hours start to finish) Take after my mum - all three of us shot out and all nearly 9lb babies so nothing to do with size! Both mine were too...

littlemissbossy · 03/02/2006 19:47

officially 10 hours
unofficially - and what it bl**dy well felt like - from first contractions - 4 days!!!!

kid · 03/02/2006 19:48

From induction to emergency c-section = 22 hours. It wasn't too bad though, the full tank of gas and air that I got through and 2 or 3 epidurals helped a great deal!

Frizbetheexpansionset · 03/02/2006 19:51

7.5hrs

Peanut05 · 03/02/2006 19:59

Hmm let me see. If you count from the first contraction to birth 90 hours. Yes 90!

However actual established labour? About half an hour at the most.

mszebra · 03/02/2006 20:22

6 hours (ish). 9-10 hours if you count from first contx.

saralou100 · 04/02/2006 09:12

after debating with dp for 20 mins whether they were contractions or wind, followed by phoning a friend (everyone said i would know - i wasn't sure) it lastd 4hrs!! epidural highly recomended!!!

expectingsummerihope · 04/02/2006 17:22
