32 hours. Thank god for the epidural. On the other hand, they say epidurals can slow things down even further. (I had mine after about 24 hours.)
Isn't it just the worst, worst thing the way it isn't 'established' labour till you're however-many-centimetres dilated, so after hours of agony you're told you're not even in labour yet?

mummytosteven · 02/02/2006 09:46

yes Kathy, it's soooo annoying to be told you're not in established labour when you're having regular painful contractions. Diamorphine can also slow things down.

Lucy99 · 02/02/2006 10:07

3 hours and 20 mins

pascy · 02/02/2006 10:29

Hello Everyone this is my first time on mumsnet, so here it goes; my labour lasted just under three days! Pure agony, all in my back!

Pfer · 02/02/2006 10:34

Three days? Effing Hell! Think I'd've killed a number of midwives by then!

My first was 5hrs 25mins officially - though it felt longer (2nd was about 1.5hrs - that was soooooo much better though no time for drugs)

fuzzywuzzy · 02/02/2006 10:40

1st 17 hours
2nd 6 hrs

second time hurt more though.

yabbs · 02/02/2006 11:01

17 and a half hours

bumbleweed · 02/02/2006 11:15

40 hours and 2 nights with no sleep - total nightmare!

nowanearlyNicemum · 02/02/2006 11:25

35 and a half hours from induction to birth by emergency c-section.
worth every flipping second!!

Lasvegas · 02/02/2006 12:03

3.5 days without any pain relief except birthing pool.

jpedwards76 · 02/02/2006 12:17

42 hours from waters going to eventual c -section!!! no sleep!!

Would do it all over again tomorrow!!

The end results outweigh everything else! and you soon forgot it!

Lilyofthevalley · 02/02/2006 12:27

21 hours

RuthT · 02/02/2006 12:33

Five and a half hours from waters breaking - Phew

Filyjonk · 02/02/2006 12:50

1 hr 20 minutes for no 1
no 2-36 hours!

no 2 was easier and all round nicer by far.

compo · 02/02/2006 12:51

waters broke at 1am and ds was born at 7.30pm (not sure how many hours that is - lol)

lilupix · 02/02/2006 13:41

dd1 - 12 hrs from first niggles (had show 4 hrs prior to that).

dd2 - woke at 2am already 3cms and had her at 8am, so 6 hrs I was aware of!

pebblemum · 02/02/2006 15:45

with ds1 my waters broke 5am on the thursday morning and he was born 1.45am friday morning. He waited to arrive on the exact date he was due! 8lbs 5oz

Ds2 was a lot better although he was 8 days late. On the Tuesday I went for check up and was told i was 6cm dilated but no signs of labour pains. 3am wednesday morning contractions started, got to hospital at 8.15am, ds2 arrived at 8.55am. 7lbs 2oz

expectingsummerihope · 02/02/2006 16:38

meconium in waters when they broke. No contractions but had to be induced. ds born 14 hrs later (4 hours pushing) delivered by ventouse and scored 10 in apgar score. Weighed 91b, 3oz. Apparently meconuium in waters is a sign that baby is in distress but only person in distress was me! Delighted when he was born safe and sound

chickenwings · 02/02/2006 16:41

Induced first time and took 12 hours.

Second time it took 20 minutes!!!

just over 4 days (littleB just pips me!). 1st two days were bearable although i had no sleep. early on the third day the baby turned round and went OP - cue horrendous back pain. at tea time on the fourth day i was admitted and had a shot of diamorphine. 3 hours of some relief. At midnidnight i was pronounced the majic 3 cm and sent to the delivery room. I got an epidural which worked down only half of my body giving no pain relief but leaving me stranded lying down - the most painful position for an OP labour. 13 hours after that(and after 4 days of no sleep) he was born with forceps. Apparantly you go psychotic after 5 days of no sleep - i understand this completely. the whole thing was utterly horrendous apart from the end bit - oh although i also got the 'epidual headache' and could not sit up for a week! and i've been boring people to death with my labour from hell story ever since.

iris66 · 02/02/2006 20:47

12 hours exactly from waking up with contractions.

Ooh, well i was induced so i suppose it makes a difference. Official time was 1 hour 12 minutes, but i have about contractions and painful ones for about 7 hours in total. I just wasn't getting anywhere with them to start with. I hope if/when i have another, it is about the same.
