silent respect to all the marathon labourers here

Lacrimosa · 01/02/2006 09:46

Waters broke at around 1:20 and time of birth was 2:14!

Poshpaws · 01/02/2006 09:47

Contractions started at 1.40am on the Saturday. He was born 1.25am on the Sunday.

Poshpaws · 01/02/2006 09:50

Ok, from waters breaking, about 2.5 hours. The vast majority of the labour was experienced at home and, in relative terms, the pain was manageable.

They had to break my waters in hospital and that was at about 11pm.

CarolinaMoon · 01/02/2006 10:04

52hrs from the first contraction, inc 17hrs active labour in hosp ending in an emergency section.

ButtonMoon · 01/02/2006 10:06

15 hours.

slinkstah · 01/02/2006 10:18

53 'orrible painful hours, many spent on antenatal ward as was not even 3 cm dialated, yet in agony!
then after 3 hours pushing ended up with emergency cesearean ! 2nd was much easier.

LynnC · 01/02/2006 10:32

Waters broke 4.30pm contractions started 6.30ish in real pain by 9pm (but only 2cm dilated) in agony by midnight (5cm dilated) not taken to delivery suite till 5am and delivered 10.19am. So from first contraction 16 hours.

QueenMab · 01/02/2006 10:42

First pain at 14.30, DS born at 16.45! Took me by surprise

Piffle · 01/02/2006 11:03

Pretty fast, I had really easy contractions for about 2 hours, from 1pm like very light period pains, same as Braxton Hicks really... Then at about 3pm I threw up and felt some more fierce ones, then I yelped I need to push, so we bundled into midwife's car raced to hospital (2 minutes away) went up to birthing suite delivered ds at 3.30pm
Only just made it.
So I did not really think I was in labour and nor did the midwife until I threw up...

Lizzylou · 01/02/2006 11:20

47 hours, culminating in an epidural and a ventouse....wish I'd had the epidural after about 3 hours so I could sleep!

zubb · 01/02/2006 11:43

about 2 hours.

serenity · 01/02/2006 12:18

18hrs from very first contraction to birth, 9 hrs of that was 'active' labour.

Darciesmum · 01/02/2006 12:36

12 hrs from first contraction till birth

LittleB · 01/02/2006 13:28

Do I have the record? From first contraction to birth was 118 hours! First contraction 3am sat, dd born just 0.42am Thursday. Contractions did slow to about an hour apart at times but never stopped, when into hospital sunday and monday and sent home before they induced me on wednesday as waters had started to leak on Monday. Was in a bit of state! My mum thinks my labour started early due to being told that my grandmother was dying on the Thursday, I was very upset and my blood pressure went up. My grandmother died when dd was 3 days old, her first week was the hardest week of my life, full of happiness and sadness and exhaustion. Sorry for waffling on, I still think I need to talk about it all some more, dd is 8 months old now.

LOOBYLOU2 · 01/02/2006 13:28

23hrs in total - epidural after 8hrs and delivery by ventouse.

nzshar · 01/02/2006 14:01

From waters breaking to birth 7 hours....first contraction 2 hours after waters broke.

novadandypowder · 01/02/2006 14:02

7hours 55mins.

That was from me going into the hospital just to make sure I wasn't in labour, discovering I was already 4cms, then having DD.

I was VERY happy to have quite a quick straight forward birth at 37wks, as everyone tells you to expect an overdue long labour with your first.
