Just wondering what the first thing all you ladies said (or yelled) after giving birth.
My dp has constantly made fun of me since our ds was born in november, as I literally hollered 'it's over!!!!!' ...loud enough for unoccupied midwives at the station to dash in and congratulate us.
Nothing like the teary..'oh my gosh he's beautiful' i expected.
Little did i know it was far from over as i then had retained placenta and had to go into theatre and get a spinal block to have it removed..but thats another story....

lol..i thought something similar during pushing but didn't say it..it felt like the whole world was making its way out of my body..all i said at that point though was ''why can't i have the gas and air, give it to me or i'm going home''

DD1 "thank fuck that's out of me!" honestly

DD2 oh my god I did it she's here.

Blondeinlondon · 31/01/2006 17:04

Not 100% sure but I think it was - "where's xxxx?" - my best mate who had arrived at the hosp about 30 mins before DS was born

fullmoonfiend · 31/01/2006 17:13

er after ds 2 - I knew he was a boy from the scan, I knew he was ok (he was wailing) and I knew something was required of me. But all i could think of to say was ''has he got hair?'' Doh! Why??!

londonmummy · 31/01/2006 17:14

Thank God! Then when they showed me my dd 'where's the willy?' Was convinced I was having a boy!!!

wilbur · 31/01/2006 17:38

lol at this thread

ds1 - after sobbing when I heard him cry (emergency c-section) my first actual words were "What's that thing on his face?" as he had a big skin tag on his cheek. Nice welcome eh?

dd - screamed "IT'S A GIRL, IT'S A GIRL..." and so on.

ds2 - Hello, you're here.

SiobhanW · 31/01/2006 17:40

Thought DD looked like my brother and said - that's it ... how soon before she can have her ears pinned?!!! mind you she did spend the first few months looking like my brother in a babygro!!! She is of course utterly beautiful now !!

izzybiz · 31/01/2006 20:17

1st baby~ "he's mine, he's mine, he's mine!
2nd baby~ to Dp~ oh look what we did!

jennifersofia · 31/01/2006 20:18

DD1 - OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!!!!
DD2 - My darling my darling my darling..
Not very inventive...

JoolsToo · 31/01/2006 20:21

dd - that's xxxxxxx over there
ds1 - hello
ds2 - hello (but what I was thinking 'haven't you got a big nose')

they're all gorgeous

sansouci · 31/01/2006 20:57

I remember realising that I was dying & felt v. peaceful but extremely sad that I wouldn't have the chance to see my dd grow up!

PeachyClair · 31/01/2006 20:59

No idea. Am I a bad mum?

Do remember Dh yelling something about ds1 having a huge willy and it running in the family

KAZ09 · 01/02/2006 00:10

Sansouci,

What happened?

mother3 · 01/02/2006 00:14

sparklymieow · 01/02/2006 00:14

with Ds I just cried
Dd1 I said 'she's no breathing, whats happening??' (premature birth and she wasn't breathing)
Dd2 'can we call him Mark?' Dh said "M, its a girl!' pmsl!

Taffindra · 01/02/2006 10:59

Well Pennies you hopefully won't have too! Just don't go anywhere near DH for the next 20 years (till safely past menopause).
I screamed 'is he alright, is he alright' and then cried. A lot.

mummyhill · 01/02/2006 11:24

With DD - ohh thats nice can I sleep now (long labour)

DS - Yipee no need to do that again then.

4blue1pink · 01/02/2006 11:35

Oh no he's blue!

To which the midwife responded all babies are when they're born!

Make him breathe!

To which I was told all is ok .. and sure enough seconds later it was and slowly my blue boy became flesh coloured!

parkj83 · 01/02/2006 12:47

I had a 15.5 hr labour with my 8lb 12.75oz ds, which ended up with a spinal anaesthetic and a forceps delivery.

Not bad going for a first birth at 19!

Auntymandy · 01/02/2006 12:47

With DS2 I said..would someone tell me what I have had! He wasnt well and no one really looked!!!

LIZS · 01/02/2006 12:49

I asked whether ds had webbed toes ?! Then was he a boy or a girl !

mumtoone · 01/02/2006 17:17

I don't remember the first thing I said but I do remember getting quite annoyed with the midwife tugging at the umbilical cord to get the placenta out. I'd had enough by this point and didn't want any more pain!

laurenholly · 01/02/2006 21:52

dd1 what is it boy or girl and saying how lovely she is and asking if she was ok as they had to take her away as she wasnt breathing

dd2 am i dreaming is she really here due to being so hign on the gas and air and saying thats shes lovely
