I am 38+3 with DC2. Hoping for a VBAC after an EMCS for DC1 with who I got to 9cm's with.

I have had period cramps for over a week, two lots of plug coming away and last night lots of tight feelings high in my bump. The period like cramps are really painful and often are alongside sharp pains down below.

I have a week to go into labour, otherwise I am booked for a CS. I am so fed up of symptom spotting and being in this 'is it- is it not?' place. I went into labour at 38+4 with DC1.

So someone come along and tell me lie to me that todays the day. Grin

Gingersnap88 · 22/03/2012 05:00

Woke up at 2.30 with strong pains every 10 minutes- Fingers crossed!

feekerry · 22/03/2012 06:19

Go go ginger! And nothing from fuckity either? Ooh we could have lots of babies by the weekend, tho prob not mine. Feel really annoyed today. Now 40+4.

Joygirl78 · 22/03/2012 06:46

Argh. I WANT labour now. So pissed off. Just tipped a whole cup of tea on bedroom carpet because I could,'t reach it properly because I can't move.
Can't face friday and taking DD to playgroup to hear all the gasps 'surely you must have had the baby yet, omg.....' Etc. May have mega bump but am only just 40 weeks. ARGH. Over it. Not amused.

artifarti · 22/03/2012 07:16

Hello everyone. Congrats midnight, what lovely news! And good luck to all those contracting. I have had total broadband failure for 4 days which is not what a grumpy overdue pg woman needs! 40+5 now and no progress at all. Consultant gave me a sweep yesterday but cervix is still high although soft. Booked in for elcs at 40+11 if nothing happens. Has a feel of inevitability about it. Sigh.

DaydreamDolly · 22/03/2012 07:23

Daydream reporting for duty. 40+6. Sweep tomorrow and will discuss induction with me, which I will refuse.
DD at playgroup this morning then mum and dad are taking us for a pub lunch so am happy to go into labour any time after 2pm. Thanks.
Hi Arti we thought you'd had your baby and gawn orrf and left us!
Midnight hope you and baby girl are doing well

feekerry · 22/03/2012 07:31

arti! We thought you'd had your babe. Bad luck! Were pretty much all still here tho, and still pregnant! Okay ladies, i'm not going to get my hopes up but i've had very loose bowels since about 5 this morning and been quite achey since. Going to go for a walk this morning to see if that will kick start things. I think this is the first time i've had any kind of symptom! Hence my excitement! Lol. Prob just food poisoning!x

PoultryInMotion · 22/03/2012 08:01

Just checking in, I think we all have the gestation periods of an elephant!

Well, today is my due date. So two more weeks to go Grin My regular midwife has been off for the last three weeks so am a bit gutted about the continuity of care. Normal midwife promised she'd give me a sweep at 40 weeks but cover woman refused yesterday as it's not in the policy. Had to explain the whole 'I'm a neurotic idiot with lots of reduced movements' to her which is embarrassing. She's booked me an appt to have the sweep on Monday though at the hospital.

I still haven't been booked for a 42 week induction yet, is this normal? I can't remember last time. Also have no other appt to see community midwife Confused

DaydreamDolly · 22/03/2012 08:23

Poultry you should have a 41 week appointment booked with mw. Just call them up and book it. At this apt they offer sweep and generally book induction date.
Feek hope your symptoms mean something! Although I've had those symptoms for 2 fecking weeks now Sad

princessamz · 22/03/2012 09:10

morning all,
everyone sounds pretty pissed off and fed up of waiting today.i went to bed last night feeling really happy that my baby girl is gonna be here soon.woke up this morning feeling a lil achey (which im getting used too)and still quite positive yet abit emotional....any ideas about my last post or is it just me being hopeful??
ginger anymore signs??

DaydreamDolly · 22/03/2012 09:34

Hey Princess I had the increased white discharge too, have had it about 3 weeks although its not as bad as it was a week ago, weirdly?!
Also I had brown bloody mucous last Tuesday. The brown mark on your underwear is a sign that things are moving in the right direction, however it could be hours, days or weeks, unfortunately it's not the same for everyone Sad Hope it's hours for you tho and not weeks!
My lovely mummy has been and picked DD up to take her to playgroup so I don't have to face the pitying stares! Just had a lovely scalding hot shower in peace, how nice. Simple things huh?!

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 22/03/2012 09:44

Right, 40+5 and losing the will. I had an early night last night, after having an hour playing wth the TENS which was heaven. But I was up every single hour again. How is it possible to pee mor ethan I drink?? I ask you. Have had some brown show which has now turned more bright red. Is that normal do you think? Am having a last ditch effort to prepare everything, have baked cakes just now for dd's cake sale tomorrow, all permission slips are in, costume made for Tudor day next week. Kitchen cupboard thoroughly cleaned. So am now sat on my butt trying to be bothered to call SKy and tell them I have no channels. This isn;t the sort of task that fills me with joy.

DaydreamDolly · 22/03/2012 09:55

Bright red blood can be a sign labour is very imminent, as long as its not loads and loads of it? Baby still moving around? If it gets heavier or you're worried I'd head down to the hospital to get checked out. But fresh blood at this point usually means cervix is dilating!! Good luck!!

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 22/03/2012 09:58

Baby moving around a lot still, it's not loads tbh but it's bright red blood and mucous each time I wipe, it's not pouring out or anything (we're so far past being indelicate I don't mind sharing this with the world) I hope this means it's moving in the right direction, dp has a meeting he really wants out of tomorrow Grin But why couldn't this have started yesterday when I actually felt well rested???

feekerry · 22/03/2012 10:01

fuckity you are next, i can feel it. i'm no expert but have been reading MN endlessly and that sounds like things are very close to kicking off. my friend went to hospital after having a bit of red blood and she was in active labour by the time she got there!!

princess sounds like normal late pregnancy discharge although good sign that things might be moving in right direction.

Joygirl78 · 22/03/2012 10:10

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 22/03/2012 10:28

I love the look she gives Ross when the doctor suggests sex Grin

thegauntlet · 22/03/2012 11:00

little girl born at 3.55 this morning. 8lb 6. Husband and friend delivered her before the midwife got to us. Waters went at 3.48 and DH called the midwife and our friend (who is a gp and lives in college with us here) he then said 'do you want to get back in the pool' to which i screamed ' the baby's head is nearly out!' she had cord round her neck a coupla times, and pooped on the way out; i screamed breathed the head out and pushed once for the shoulders.
exactly 12 hours first contraction to birth. Much, much more painful than dd1. I pretty much lost the plot each contraction ( husbo is actually a legend (although i have not forgotten he can be a complete pain in the neck and a lazy )

Fyi i did call the midwives back at 1130 when i had been in the pool- i was only 3-4cm change of 1 since 730 exam, told to get out of pool. Was very upset and emotional then. I honestly thought i wouldn't make it.

She is a right little guzzler; and looks completely different from DD1. She has latched on so strongly it was amazing; DD1 had profound tongue tie.

One problem ( nearly had to go in at 5am) is the after pains... seriously... why does noone tell you about them? I was in such agony we were talking ambulance transfer for morphine. If anyone on here is having a homebirth for the second take up the offer of pethidine for afterpains.I stupidly thought i wouldnt get a prescription as I didnt need anything like that last time. Pain was Worse than contractions; and much more long lasting. I am on codeine now, which will make that first BM rather interesting
Sorry for the long ramble. Not long ladies.
i

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 22/03/2012 11:11

Oh congratulations gauntlet!! Afterpains with ds were horrible, I've got some cocodamol in my hospital bag that I was prescribed for lung pain a few weeks ago but never used Blush I remember how difficult it was just to get some paracetamol when I had dd so I'm not going to bank on being given any pain relief when I ask for it this time. It only lasts a few days though. It is SO my turn next.

DaydreamDolly · 22/03/2012 11:13

Oh Gauntlet congratulations! You did amazingly well! Welcome baby girl, good healthy weight too. So glad you got your home birth, although it sounds a little fraught at the end!
Urggh after pains they sound nice! Hope the codeine is helping.
Enjoy newborn snuggles! Well jel! Grin

Flisspaps · 22/03/2012 12:27

thegauntlet Well done to you and your DH!

I've already packed paracetamol and ibuprofen in the bag that I won't go to hospital with for the afterpains, but am on the hunt for something with codeine in for the afterpains Wink

startail · 22/03/2012 12:43

Congratulations, always lovely to welcome another Home birth baby.
After pains sound horrid, I managed to escape them.
Well done to your DH and your friend too.

feekerry · 22/03/2012 13:28

yay gauntlet!!! congratulations

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 22/03/2012 14:21

God I'm flagging. I'm about ready for a nap. Dp's computers are all down at work so he's coming home to do the school run, thank godness. I'm fed up of feeling so unproductive. All I've achieved today is unplugging the Sky box for 10 seconds, problem solved. I have a day planned with my friend tomorrow that will mostly involve tea and cake but the thought of having to get dressed and actually go out and meet her, urgh. I'm in the trousers that I bought when I was about 14 weeks pg and thought, my thighs will never get that big. They're a perfect fit Blush
