I did 4 to 10 cm in 2 hours with dc2 and 3. With dc1 I was even quicker! Someone told me to just keep walking around and I'm sure it was that advise that got things going . Good luck in the night - I also think 11.12.11 is a cool date!

sunshineandshowers13 · 10/12/2011 22:44

another lurker coming out at the approaching announcement of the arrival of Isbn.

Have a warm bath (not too hot as may raise your bp) but that worked for me. Went from 2-10 in about 40 mins. Did then spend nearly 10 mins trying to clean the bloody bath (inbetween really intense contractions) but heyho Xmas Blush

my money is on 4.17am - heres hoping for a happy healthy mummy, daddy and baby nickel

Solo · 10/12/2011 22:48

Ooooh! exciting!!! :) good luck nickel.

hester · 10/12/2011 22:49

Just popping in to wave at nickelbabe and say good luck. Think you may have set some kind of record for most-threads-needed-to-cover-one-birth Grin

underbeneathsies · 10/12/2011 22:50

Good luck and blessings upon you Nickel and babe!
This old wifey is off to bed now, so here's hoping it goes perfectly for you all Smile

nickelbabe · 10/12/2011 22:52

Well, i got DH doing a rotation thing with his palm (that was a google search result from babycentre).
It actually felt quite nice for a while, then it got annoying (i think he did it a couple of times for about 4-5 mins).
We're going to bed now. Feel all quite tender down below, and getting some quite uncomfortable tightenings, so fingers crossed this is actually the start of something
I think after tonight, I might have to argue for them to come out to me (i know they can't refuse, but i don't think they'll be happy just to come out). I am willing to be in hospital if things kick off while I'm there, but I'm not making a special trip if I'm already here!

nan-night.
I'll update later if anything happens...........

Good luck Nickel. Is DH having a day off tomorrow?

OddBaubles · 10/12/2011 22:53

I hope you have a good night of rest so things can really happen tomorrow. Sleep well.

Tillyscoutsmum · 10/12/2011 23:01

I've been lurking nickelbabe but just wanted to wish you luck and hope to read your birth announcement soon. Its my birthday tomorrow - the 11th is a good day to be born Xmas Grin

Sparklingbaubles · 10/12/2011 23:01

Night night. Something tells me you won't be getting a full night's sleep. Smile

saffronwblue · 10/12/2011 23:02

Good luck Nickel. It's morning here in Melbourne and I will be working at my computer much of today, so will keep obsessively checking in on you and ISBN.

CointreauVersial · 10/12/2011 23:04

Just checking in after a night out; do I detect a little.... progress??

Fingers firmly crossed for you.

My waters didn't break until the mw came at me with her crochet hook, so it isn't always the first thing to happen.

schroeder · 10/12/2011 23:05

Night, I'm off to me pit as well.

KnottyJustForChristmas · 10/12/2011 23:09

Checking in Smile

MrsChristmasDB · 10/12/2011 23:18

Hi nickel. Just checking in.

Wishing you well, been thinking of you all day.

Take care.

xxxxx

EdlessAllenPoe · 10/12/2011 23:35

well, my waters only went prior to labour once...i prefer the 'waters go right before baby pops out' way, it sort of cushioned things for most of the labour.

yet waters trickling prior would be typical of op baby.

the average HB takes 5.7 hours (roughly) though first time, probably longer....best to throw the clock away and focus on your labour, breathing, staying mobile etc....

MightilyOats · 10/12/2011 23:39

Hope you get some sleep Nickel! That was the worst thing about labour for me - being knackered from no sleep, so get as much kip as you can!

Good luck and fingers crossed you get to cuddle your baby in the next 24 hours :)

Incidentally you will approve of the fact that ds has, by chance, some pink cloth nappies Wink

Good luck, both in getting some sleep, and in getting on with things!

lostinwales · 10/12/2011 23:52

Na-night nickel, I never got to 3cm on my own so you are doing incredibly well, so close to meeting that amazing beautiful child of yours now. Sleep well and we'll have that baby out in the morning Wink

NorksAreMessy · 10/12/2011 23:53

Evening all...just checking in. I have been thinking of you nickel all evening and wishing you well during a frankly quite raucous dinner party.

Hope you get some sleep before THE BIG DAY...

minceorotherwise · 10/12/2011 23:56

Ooh just a late check in too, good luck overnight, hoping you sleep through some contractions and find yourself almost there when you wake up. Night night

GoodQueenMsInterpret · 11/12/2011 00:01

Good luck nickel!

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 11/12/2011 01:19

sparklingbaubles Grin You didn't need a crystal ball for that! Nickel hasn't had a full nights sleep for ages I can't see tonight being any different - whether ISBN decides to make an appearance or not is another thing entirely Grin
