Oh right Elf. I vaguely remember something about it being a bit like a polo neck jumper and I had some sort of 'lip'. It was a very long time ago. Sad

nickelbabe · 10/12/2011 21:32

Got3stockings - it's a psychological issue with me, the orgasm isn't oging to happen :( (it can, and I know i can do it, but unfortunately, this isn't the time to try to get me over the hurdle :) )

Just hanging about......

Got3stockings · 10/12/2011 21:37

With some electrical help? Grin

nickelbabe · 10/12/2011 21:38

Grin[snort]

an interesting article on the stages of labour
(it's academic, and the stages of effacement are shown)

Oh no. i don't think I thoroughly washed my vulva before giving birth!! Shock

Fascinating article though nickel-could have done with that!

IWantSantasNewToyInMyStocking · 10/12/2011 21:47

Three centimetres 5 hours ago? That's brill, keep it going Nickel and get tweaking!!

nickelbabe · 10/12/2011 21:48

I know, the washing thing made me laugh Grin

Hang on!
Is Nickel 3 cm?
I missed that!

ooooooooooooh
Last two DCs I went from 3 to 10 in about an hour.

3 is GOOD!

nickelbabe · 10/12/2011 21:57

haven't gone from 3 to 10 in an hour though!
(obv don't know what's going on0

But, but this isn't a subsequent labour for you though nickel? You are a bit advanced but that is allowed as you are 14 days over Grin

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 10/12/2011 22:05

Well its not as likely with baby no.1 but its still GOOD.

Tangle · 10/12/2011 22:07

3cm is a really good start for a first baby - and its proof positive that something is happening :o

Try and get a good night's sleep (after all the nipple twiddling, etc...) and see what the morning brings.

(And I'm another one where my waters have never gone until start of 2nd stage - so don't get stressed that they haven't burst yet. Take it as a positive - that would be another clock ticking with more pressure for induction due to risk of infection...)

KateFrothers · 10/12/2011 22:08

The nipple tweaking doesn't need to be pleasurable. My waters broke and I was against the clock for a hb (18 hours from waters breaking to delivery) and I needed to get things moving.

Honestly do it like you're trying to find the shipping forecast on long wave radio. Or like you're a teenage boy and this is the first time you've ever touched breasts.

It was not pleasurable but it worked.

naturalbaby · 10/12/2011 22:09

3cm is good. i was given a v.v.thorough stretch and sweep, 1st proper contraction about 1 1/2hrs later.

wish i could stay up all night, bet you'll have a baby by the morning! but i may need matchsticks after dealing with super clingy baby with a cold all day.
go nickel go nickel go nickel!

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 10/12/2011 22:14

I think they reckon on 1 cm an hour (first baby) once things have started so get tweaking - agree there could be a bundle of joy with you in the morning!!

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 10/12/2011 22:18

My waters dont break till the baby is coming out.
Every bloody time.

Oooooooo a baby is acoming.

MunchingNoPickles · 10/12/2011 22:19

Hoping you have a progressive night Nickelbabe

naturalbaby · 10/12/2011 22:25

yup, 1cm an hour and waters broke at the end with all of mine (apart from a little trickly with dc1). if you're at home get ready for an almighty gush of fluid. i was in a pool 1st and 2nd time then forgot 3rd time and was scrubbing fluid off the carpet for days.

cakeismysaviour · 10/12/2011 22:28

13/12/11 is cooler....

Sorry nickel..... Grin

Lurker coming out of hiding here, good luck!

CuriosityCola · 10/12/2011 22:28

I went from 2cm to 10cm in two hours - first baby. Agreed that 11-12-11 is a very cool birth date.

Will be checking in through the night Nickel. It's getting very exciting! Grin

MrsSnaplegs · 10/12/2011 22:34

Fingers crossed here Grin I have to go to bed I'm afraid DD is at a beaver scout sleepover so I need to make the most of a possible lie in tomorrow ( deliberately let DH lie in till 9 this am even though children were up at 6Wink) hopefully he will take the baby downstairs in the morning Grin
I plan to wake up to the news of ISBN's arrival - my money is on 0530Wink
