Forget 'discussions of the day' that's small potatoes. This needs to be at LEAST on BBC Radio Kent and SkyNews, possibly a banner being towed behind a plane, a flock of messenger pigeons, a Morse code frenzy, semaphore signals, beacons lit across the county and a VERY complicated peal of bells from the church.

This isn't some nonsense about Cameron and the Euro, or whether you put ketchup on chips this is REALLY IMPORTANT!

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 11/12/2011 08:52

I can hardly stand it..

The excitment. The waiting. The longing for a sniff of that baby's head..

Morning Nickel. With DS1 i had a whole night and day of the pains you describe then DS1 was born in the evening. Smile

mummynoseynora · 11/12/2011 09:01

Checking in on thread 3... Sounds like there is finally some progress! Go nickel

pixiestix · 11/12/2011 09:04

Morning Nickel!

I reckon today is the day as well

Cutelittlecatlover · 11/12/2011 09:10

Good morning Nickel and Isbn, I'm so pleased things are happening!

So is anyone taking bets? I'm thinking boy, 7lb 12oz 2.33pm

OnlyWantsOne · 11/12/2011 09:11

Morning Nickel Smile rest as much as you can xx

FourThousandHoles · 11/12/2011 09:11

I don't think this needs to be on discussions of the day, everyone's already here

Good luck Nickel, sounds like things are progressing nicely :)

Sparklingbaubles · 11/12/2011 09:13

I have always thought the baby was a boy. I think this evening, under the glow of the christmas tree lights. Smile 7lb 10oz.

nickelbabe · 11/12/2011 09:14

YouGreat - well, at least it's not me that has to fend off the "where's this baby?!" comments Grin

Nickel - the thread is currently top on the most active list though!

I reckon ISBN is a boy and will arrive at 11.33pm tonight weighing in at 8lb1.

nickelbabe · 11/12/2011 09:25

no glow of christmas tree lights Shock
we don't put christmas decorations up until the weeks before christmas.

I raised this with DH on the way back from Medway yesterday - it could definitely work to our advantage, having the baby this late. Most kids demand christmas decorations to be put up at he beginning of december (i remember well nagging my parents every day, and finally getting them up 2 weeks before christmas). Well, if the child has an 11th December birthday, it's not going to want to have christmas decorations overshadowing its birthday. So, we can encourage it to want birthday decorations a few days after its birthday, and then put christmas decorations up after the glow of the birthday has worn off.

I jsut had to stop typing mid-post then to do a ridiculously sloppy poo.
and i'm sure these "surges" are coming every 5 minutes.
should I ring the hospital to talk about them or wait a bit longer? (i was going to wait till 10 to see what happened)

Sparklingbaubles · 11/12/2011 09:27

Yay sloppy poo!! Yay surges!! I would ring the hospital and just let them know.

YougreatChristmaspudding · 11/12/2011 09:27

The poo is your body having a good clear out. I would give the hospital a 'heads up' call so they know to expect to come out to you today.

DutchOma · 11/12/2011 09:27

Do you think your homebirth midwife might like to know?

nickelbabe · 11/12/2011 09:28

okay, i'll give them a ring now, then. :)

(ooh! that's quite exciting isn't it! I've been secretly trying to pretend nothing's happening! Grin )

OP posts:
MrsSnaplegs · 11/12/2011 09:28

Ooh sloppy poo is a goo signGrin
Can you still do stuff when you get the pains or do you have to wait until they've passed? Could you have a conversation through them?

MrsSnaplegs · 11/12/2011 09:29

Goo=good obviously Blush

SecretSantaBitWorried · 11/12/2011 09:29

Woo hoo.......

crikeybadger · 11/12/2011 09:29

No harm in letting them know nickelbabe- that way they can make sure they can organise their staff for the HB.

Hope all goes well - stay active, eat and drink when you feel like it and don't forget to breathe Smile

Sparklingbaubles · 11/12/2011 09:30

Don't forget to thoroughly wash your vulva Nickel. Wink

HighHeidYin · 11/12/2011 09:30

Wow it will be all go now! Did you manage to get any sleep last night?

sittinginthesun · 11/12/2011 09:31

Let them know now - it sounds like things are definately moving :)

DS2 started with period pains, which got stronger and stronger. Walking up and down helped me loads, and counting through even the gentle early ones was good practise for later.

saffronwblue · 11/12/2011 09:31

Nickel my DD is turning 10 tomorrow and I always use her birthday as the marker for when to get desperate busy about Christmas.
I'd ring everyone but have not got the patience you have shown on these threads. It is starting to sound as if your body is following a clear script!
