there.
part 2 of the "not-live-birth-thread"

How come I can conceive and carry through a pregnancy but I can't finish one?

Good grief woman you not had that baby yet?!? Grin. Sorry been lurking on your other threads and couldn't resist Smile
If it helps DS was 11 days late but labour only took 2 hours so you never know.
Definitely make lots of unchangeable plans, that'll make junior turn up.

Blatherskite · 06/12/2011 21:13

If we all promise to buy a shed- load of books tomorrow morning, you'll never make it to the shop.

Maybe?

TheOriginalFAB · 06/12/2011 21:13

Shock Figgy!!!

what time shall we meet Grin

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 21:14

bizarre.
i found a video here
i have managed to get a couple of drops out of my right boob, but nothing from my left.

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 21:17

yes! now i'v got drops from my left one.

it's really, really weird, how the body works!
I think it might be a bit harder because I'm convinced there's some crustiness on the nipple (but i daren't try to remove it, because i've tried that before and it really really hurt)

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 21:18

I quite like the idea of being a human beach ball Grin

PandaG · 06/12/2011 21:19

hope you're not too uncomfortable. Come om isbn, there are lots of internet sprites who are waiting to hear of your safe arrival!

YougreatChristmaspudding · 06/12/2011 21:21

Crustiness (AKA nipple cheese) is small amount of dry crystallised colostrum.

20 or so minutes of the tweaking at a time might help get things on the go

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 21:22

i take it then that it's not in the way of the milk coming out?

OP posts:
YougreatChristmaspudding · 06/12/2011 21:24

No, it will just wash off in the bath/shower.

YougreatChristmaspudding · 06/12/2011 21:25

or if you ever get there a small snuffly baby will clear it - they have the suck of a large hoover!

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 21:28

I'm just really quite surprised at how much I'm learning about how my body works Grin

Another lurker here and blimey I feel for you. DS1 was 14 days late - but when he decided the time was right, he was fast and furious. No twinges, no nothing whatsoever, then waters broke and 5 hours later he was born - so don't despair. This will be over soon enough - just rest when you can.

All of mine have been late - some women are just cursed with long pregnancies. DC4 arrived after I kicked a football around the garden with DC3 - fancy a kickabout?

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 21:36

thanks.
:)

I quite fancy a kickabout.

Hi! DD2 was 40+11, maybe its a hoarding thing!

NICEyBahHumbug · 06/12/2011 21:53

1124 posts talkign about hte fact that one day i might possibly give birth must be boring for everyone blush

Na, Nickel, you are keeping me entertained at least... Very amusing.

MrsChristmasDB · 06/12/2011 21:59

Hi nickel

Just checking in.

LikeAnAdventCandleButNotQuite · 06/12/2011 22:00

what about going along the Park and playing on the swings? Seen that suggestion on another thread this morning. If all else fails, at least it'll be fun and think of the fresh air Grin

PANCHEY · 06/12/2011 22:04

Hi i have been following you (not in a stalking kind of way). I hope that it all happens soon.

DaydreamDolly · 06/12/2011 22:13

Urgh, bringing back memories of being overdue with DD... I was induced at 40+10 and she was born at 40+11. Clearly she still wasn't ready but I was about to kill someone so desperate to please everyone by having the bloody baby already that I went along with it.
I am impressed you are facing the public, I literally hid for the last 7 days of my pregnancy, only left the house to rent DVDs and buy more ice-cream. I cancelled all my plans and turned my phone off, so fed up was I of the 'any movements?!' texts and calls.
So, I'm not going to tell you off for still being pregnant (not really in your hands) I'm not going to offer any natural induction advice ( tried em all, if baby ain't ready, it ain't going to work!) But I will sympathise.
I'm 25+4 with DC2 and just know I'll be overdue again Not fun.

PacificDogwood · 06/12/2011 22:19

I feel a bit stupid but cannot miss the arrival of Baby Jesus Nickel Grin!

Re nipple cheese: I used to enjoy picking it off. I never managed to express much colostrum at all (not even for precious preemie DS2 for whom I exclusively expressed), so don't worry about it.
Have you figured out yet that the milk comes out of many, many milkducts like water out of a watering can, rather than neatly out of the centre of your nipple?? That came as quite a big shock to me... Blush.

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 06/12/2011 22:31

Well well - 200 messages in already and still no nickel junior? Xmas Wink

BTW, just to let you know - despite DS coming out at 40+16, he was still only 7lb 3oz, so they don't all get bigger 'n'bigger the longer they're in. He wasn't peely at all either - just a slow cooker. (might have mentioned that on the last thread but with your preggy brain you've hopefully probably forgotten that! Xmas Grin)

Harder - love the express response to the concerted praying effort! That's funny.

The thing about bf'ing that I found interesting was that the ducts didn't all empty at once, they go in turns; I found this out because I had one blocked duct, DS was too sleepy to feed for long enough to get round to that one, so he kept sucking on empty ones, going to sleep again and I had this one area of boob that was just getting fuller and harder and screamingly painful - even tried to get DH to have a go, just to see if he could shift it (He couldn't). Also, watching while expressing, the jets would come from different areas after a while - fascinating!

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 22:38

Pacific -sp far mine has only come out of the one hole (actually, later on, it came out of two holes in one nipple)

I showed DH the really cool but gross expressing and he was rather impressed. Grin

Another lurker here just popping in to add my voice of encouragement to baby nickel and offer vegetarian goodies. DS was 16 days late (and I won't scare bore you with my birth story), but he is worth every moment of that wait, and more. Fingers crossed you won't have to wait that long before you get to enjoy lovely cuddles. Looking forward to the live labour bit, which of course means it WILL happen tomorrow as I'm in the office all day so will miss any action Xmas Grin. Good luck!

nickelbabe · 06/12/2011 22:40

interestingThumby - does that mean that you don't always express at 6 and 12, but have to move around the boob to get more out?

it's totally fascinating.

anyway, nothing's happening (what a surprise!), so I'm going to bed.

I'm sure i'll be bored and wide awake check in later on tonight.
Grin
