I haven't time for wingeing husband's Angry. I know you said days ago you wanted him to be an arse but he had his chance. Do you want me to take you?

JKSLtd · 08/12/2011 17:44

Agree with FAB, no whinging allowed from men at this point!

Hope the monitoring goes fine and you escape get home soon :)

CointreauVersial · 08/12/2011 18:24

Good luck at the hospital, Nickel.

usingapseudonym · 08/12/2011 18:25

Hmm don't want to get excited just yet but for the last hour and a bit I've had tightenings that have made me stop. I can still talk, etc but am looking forwards to toddler going to bed as they are uncomfortable.

I'm very very aware this could just be the sweep siring things up but I would love it if it was to lead to early labour!

Nickel let us know how you get on with the hospital.

Flisspaps · 08/12/2011 18:28

usingapseudonym You should also IGNORE THE TIGHTENINGS Grin

There's nothing to see here, everyone move along...

youtalkintomeunderthemiseltoe · 08/12/2011 18:29

Ooh pseudo exciting and , keep us posted.

usingapseudonym · 08/12/2011 18:35

IWantSantasNewToyInMyStocking · 08/12/2011 18:44

Just checking in. Nickel good luck at the hospital tomorrow, I understand your sentiments about them.

TheOriginalFAB · 08/12/2011 18:44

Please don't let anyone else have their baby before Nickel has hers!!

youtalkintomeunderthemiseltoe · 08/12/2011 18:45

Sex post sweep is the only way to go and it needs to be orgasmic sex.

largeginandtonic · 08/12/2011 18:53

Pseudo this is it Grin We need baby on the thread.

Nickel hope it goes well tonight. It is quite fun listening to the little one thump away on the monitor. I always have some impressive contractions when they put me on those CTG's. They mean nowt though just pretend Grin

usingapseudonym · 08/12/2011 18:54

Hmm not likely here unless I find another partner sadly!!! Mine should get in about 10pm tonight but isn't really um willing, never mind able to get me in the mood. Mw did suggest it though.

Had a quick time of them and although they're the first proper ones I've felt they are fairly irregular so I'll just stop the excitement. Needs to be out before I go into hospital sat morning though...

youtalkintomeunderthemiseltoe · 08/12/2011 18:56

Perhaps all the other 40 weekers + need their own thread to announce labour births etc? In case somebody gives birth before Nickel Hmm

JKSLtd · 08/12/2011 19:49

I hope you've all the contraction master website (or app if you have the right kind of phone) - it's invaluable for timing ctx.
And if it all comes to nothing you can just delete & start again.

The app was especially useful with DD as i stopped talking but DH could look at the phone and see how close together they were getting with no MW in sight so knew to phone 999 :)

chocolateyclur · 08/12/2011 19:50

Good luck at the hospital!

pooka · 08/12/2011 19:53

tangled. My cervix was so unfavourable when ds1 (second child) was 5 days overdue tht he midwife couldn't sweep. So unfavourable that they were completely shocked when I turned up fully dilated at hospital 2 days later - turned up at hospital because no midwife available for homebirth. Angry

Was a 2 hour labour and I was home within 2 hours of the delivery. Fab.

I did have sex the night of the failed sweep because was so disheartened. But the midwife did have a rummage which might have set the ball rolling.

pooka · 08/12/2011 19:55

Sorry youtalktomeundethemisletoe tht was for. Sorry tangled.

Flisspaps · 08/12/2011 19:55

JKS Some people are not particularly 'for' the idea of contraction timers (I'm one) - it's something else to have to faff about with and worry about - it requires conscious thought to use it, and in labour the conscious part of the brain is the area that you don't want a woman to use :)

fraktious · 08/12/2011 19:59

I put DH in charge of the timer. Then he felt useful. And I told him if it went past 60s he could disturb me which he initially did every time I went 'ooh'.

JKSLtd · 08/12/2011 20:02

True - for later on, in fact the only reason I was still using it with DD was I was in total denial that i might be anywhere near giving birth, after 2 very long labours I was sure I still had hours to go :)

Handy for early on when you're not sure if they are 'anything' or just random BHs. Or for knowing when to call the MW.

SESthebrave · 08/12/2011 20:40

Hope all is going well at the hospital Nickel

FWIW, my birth plan with DS didn't pan out although it was a great birth in the end. I'd always wanted a home birth with minimal intervention. Due to underactive thyroid and mc history, I was told I couldn't have a home birth so settled for a natural birth in the birthing unit and probably in the pool. In the end, he was lying oblique breech and there was no option but a CS. I was gutted but the main thing was that I got my gorgeous boy.

Really hoping and praying for you that however and whenever it happens, you get as great an experience as possible.
