Have I missed something? Hasn't Nickel just said she's going in for monitoring after work today? Confused

Nickel - here's hoping it kicks off tomorrow - that's Inconvenient Day isn't it?

CointreauVersial · 08/12/2011 12:59

Oh, Nickel, I feel for you, it's a horrible dilemma, it really is. Smile and do nothing, and run the risk of something going wrong, or start a cascade of intervention which may be completely unneccessary and cause more harm than good......

I echo what CarolCervix say - take advice from people you trust, then make up your own mind.

You WILL be fine, you really will. Wishing you lots of calm and rational vibes.

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 08/12/2011 12:59

(I suppose I should point out, in case you don't know, that normal foetal heart rate is around 140, but can be anywhere between 110 and 180 - so 70 is way too slow and potentially dangerous)

gingergran · 08/12/2011 13:02

having been lurking in silence up till now but have to say for heavens sake leave the poor woman alone! nickel is not being negligent, she is not harming her baby and after all it is her body, her baby (and DH's of course) and she knows best. she is taking her midwives advice and should not have to justify her every move to a bunch of undoubtedly good hearted and well intentioned but ultimately strangers.

do what you think is best nickel, with advice from those who know you personally, and hopefully when ISBN does decide to make an appearance all will be as you would like it to be

LadyWellian · 08/12/2011 13:04

I think we might be being a bit hard on Nickel, here. Obviously no-one knows how their birth is going to go. But when you're overdue and already starting to wonder why you ever thought this was a good idea (speaking for myself there, albeit at 12 years' distance), hearing about other people's scary, awful or whatever experiences, no matter how favourable the eventual outcome, is likely to make you feel stressed and anxious.

Sparklingbaubles · 08/12/2011 13:05

That's what I was thinking ginger. I think Nickel knows what she's doing. Wink

LadyWellian · 08/12/2011 13:05

(oops, should have hit 'refresh' before posting Blush)

Fanjeau · 08/12/2011 13:05

No one is trying to scare Nickel FFS, they're just concerned for their friend.

nickelbabe · 08/12/2011 13:07

tank JKS - today is inconvenient day.

OP posts:
Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 08/12/2011 13:07

In the end no one can make Nickel do anything she doesn't want to. But giving her more information on the reasons for doing certain things gives her a better background to make her informed decisions. That is all.

nickelbabe · 08/12/2011 13:07

and, yes, I am going in after work today (like a good girl)

OP posts:
JKSLtd · 08/12/2011 13:08

Sorry Nickel - lost track of the days!
Come on ISBN don't you know how inconvenient today is? Wink

Thumbinnapuddingwitch · 08/12/2011 13:08

as an aside - 8 customers? That's fab! Xmas Grin

(glad you're going in - you can always leave again Xmas Smile)

nickelbabe · 08/12/2011 13:09

and i'm convinced you're all trying to fill this thread before Isbn can be born - making it the longest livebirth thread in history (which I think it alreayd is! Grin )

OP posts:
LadyWellian · 08/12/2011 13:10

Just to get the post count up - Nickel, I see from another thread that you have the same name as my mum. That has irrevocably altered my mental image of you!

gingergran · 08/12/2011 13:11

as if!

JKSLtd · 08/12/2011 13:12

Probably right Nickel!

Work Q - do you now of a book, parenting book, called something like Magic 123? Have been recommended it and thought keeping you distracted might help:)

MunchingNoPickles · 08/12/2011 13:13

Rally you think we'd do that Nickel obs this will be moved to classics !!

nickelbabe · 08/12/2011 13:13

No one is trying to scare Nickel but those of us that have lost/come close to losing babies feel the need to share their stories as things can and do go wroing even without any kind of notice. We were very very very lucky my baby hung on for a few more hours as the day before he was actually born he was starting to struggle.

DutchOma · 08/12/2011 13:15

Have you been able to sort yesterday's wrong deliveries (no pun intended)?

LadyWellian · 08/12/2011 13:16

I've spoilt it now by looking at your profile and seeing you have real live pictures of yourself. You've just got taller, grown your hair and become a blonde rather than a brunette!

Sparklingbaubles · 08/12/2011 13:16

I can see everyone's point of view. I think we are all united wishing all goes okay for Nickel. Smile

SixFeetUnder · 08/12/2011 13:17

How about reverse psychology? Please don't come today Isbn, this would be a terrible day to come and would be massively inconvenient for everyone involved. Just stay put for a wee bit longer, that's a good baby Xmas Grin
