there.
part 2 of the "not-live-birth-thread"

How come I can conceive and carry through a pregnancy but I can't finish one?

Just realised I have 'Come thou long-expected Jesus' running through my head as I read your posts nickel Grin

Perhaps we should all sing 'O come o come ISBN' together, with a stirring organ accompaniment from your DH.

nickelbabe · 07/12/2011 09:54
Grin

It's amazingthe number of people who seem to think i just won't bother saying!
We've got a "snow tree list" at our WI, where everyone rigns the next person on the list to tell them the meeting's cancelled, and I've promised to tell a couple of people, so that they can do the snow tree list to all the other members! Grin
We're going to send a standard text to everyone in our phones to let them know, so if we've got their mobile, they'll know straight away.
:)

Anyway, Off to Work!

I've got to go to the Post Office, but after yesterday's mania, I don't know if I can be bothered....

40+15 here with my first (sorry Grin )
I agree with other posters that once nicklebaby decides to make an appearance s/he isn't going to hang around. Think I said on your first thread, every tightening now is one less later or some other bollocks that people tried to say to appease me when overdue with my third
On a different note, have you decided on a thread title for your 3rd in labour thread because you know it will come to that! Grin
Come oooooooonnnnnnnnn nicklebaby!

Solo · 07/12/2011 10:17

Morning nickelbabe! today is the day I feel.

Hohohomouse · 07/12/2011 10:18

So, is that actually a thing then? that when the babe makes an appearance after weeks of false labour that it's likely to be a swift one? That's something at least....

LadyWellian · 07/12/2011 10:20

Morning Nickel.

Isbn won't necessarily be huge, as others have said. DD was 7lb 11oz and 19 days late but I did say I wasn't going to mention that again.

She was also wrinkly, peeling and covered in poo - aren't babies gorgeous?

Akiram · 07/12/2011 10:23

Hohoho No idea if it is true or not but everyone and his bloody dog said it to me.
With me I went from being "not sure if I was in full labour or not" to 3 hours later holding my baby but it was my third

LadyWellian · 07/12/2011 10:31

Likewise, Akiram, I went very quickly from 'probably time we called the midwives' to 'you're 10cm dilated - how do you feel about a home birth?', and DD was born about 3hrs later. My waters didn't go until just before she came out, but when they went, they went like a rocket. Grin

LittleDonkeyhadaMadHairDay · 07/12/2011 10:41

You still there woman??

Xmas Grin

When I was 2 weeks late with dd I could punch anyone who mentioned pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, curry, or sex

So I won't mention pineapple, raspberry lead tea, curry, or sex

Xmas Grin
LittleDonkeyhadaMadHairDay · 07/12/2011 10:42

or even leaf. Don't go drinking lead tea. Twould not be a good thing.

DutchOma · 07/12/2011 10:43

You'll get punched... Grin

Akiram · 07/12/2011 10:54

Lady when my MW came to check on me despite me telling her I wasn't in full labour she said that my waters were bulging and when they went baby would follow soon after. Cue 20mins of hilarity of trying to get the birthing pool the right temperature, waters went and 15mins later baby was born.

nickelbabe · 07/12/2011 10:57

ah, shit, that's why it won't come out!
we're doing Thorns in the Straw (badly, i'm sure) this afternoon.

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 07/12/2011 10:58

ah, fuck, another one of those annoying customers. Wink

OP posts:
LadyWellian · 07/12/2011 11:02

Goddamn those customers. Don't they know you have important business on MN?

usingapseudonym · 07/12/2011 11:05

I quite like Thorns in the Straw but haven't heard it in a few years. It does feel very Christmassy to me!

We went for a long walk on the heath this morning. It was beautiful but shows no signs of moving the baby. Consultant tomorrow worried look.

nickelbabe · 07/12/2011 11:08

We last did it for Holy Week.

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 07/12/2011 11:11

Right, I am going to need your help with a plan for after tomorrow.

I know that I have to ring hospital to say "yeah, you're not sticking tablets up ma' fanjo"
and then I have to ring the MW to say "so tell your supervisor, see if I care" Grin

I need to write stuff down in my notes so they know exactly what I'm willing to have done and not to have done.

how about this?
1 I am happy for you to do a VE (once!) to see what's going on.
2 Do not even think about doing a membrane sweep. I will sue you if you do
3 I am happy to have the monitoring thing done every other day.
4 but only if this is external, and doesn't involve any intrusion into my underbeneathsies.

what else do i need to tell them they can and can't do?

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 07/12/2011 11:13

from www.pregnancy-bliss.co.uk
The monitoring I'm supposed to have:
"This will include monitoring the fetal heart activity using a cardiotocograph (CTG) and an ultrasound scan, which will be used to assess several factors, including amniotic fluid volume and fetal activity."

OP posts:
nickelbabe · 07/12/2011 11:14

oh, i need to say i don't want to do any of those things before officially 42 weeks (so not before Saturday)

OP posts:
TheOriginalFAB · 07/12/2011 11:16

I had completely forgotten but DD was 6 days late and she was born 3 hours after my waters went and 4 hours after the midwife had said she wouldn't be born within 48 hours!

Akiram · 07/12/2011 11:17

Don't know if this helps or not. My Dsis (after seeing me being induced after 120 days past due date but not delivering for another 5 days) had a chat with her midwife who said she would not intervene for a good couple of weeks till after due date unless there was any cause for concern.
Is there any reason apart from you wanting baby now that you need to do anything?

Akiram · 07/12/2011 11:17

No no no, I wasn't induced 120 days after due date it was actually 10 days Grin

nickelbabe · 07/12/2011 11:20

120 days! GrinGrin

OP posts:
CaptainSexypantsMcFantastic · 07/12/2011 11:20

If you're phoning to decline your induction/tell the midwife just make a few notes beforehand to keep you on track and be prepared for them to try and convince you/make you feel like a terrible human being who is abusing her unborn baby. At least that's what they did when I rang them, things might have changed since then. Stick to your guns and don't get upset, you know you're doing the right thing for you and ISBN.

Besides if it's induction at Medway I doubt you'll ever actually get it done. when I was in with HG I was on the antenatal ward and three out of the four of us in our little section were waiting for induction (I was the only one not). They'd all been stuck there a couple of nights at least waiting for a slot to come up and they all went into labour by themselves before that happened.
