ive seen adverts for this on fb. they claim to be able to cure anxiety in young people. im suspicious - and nowhere does it tell you the cost. however im fairly desperate since my 16 year old is very disabled by anxiety. thanks

When we are at our best we are so inventive and creative and ingenious and when we use love and compassion as our guiding principles we can create and develop and implement systems of change that are beneficial to all. - I’m leaving it with that!

DoubleTweenQueen · 05/06/2021 12:44

@Mibb2 That's a really useful post re CAMHS, thankyou for taking the time.

dappledsunshine · 05/06/2021 12:52

I really appreciate those posters who are questioning whilst remaining calm, rational and providing tangible and useful information.

It's such a contrast to those who keep popping up on this thread with a very similar hysterical posting style, over use of ! and ?, repeatedly claiming to be leaving with nothing more to add then posting again a short time later. If these posters are linked with the organisation as some of us suspect it's really not portraying them in a good light and certainly not people I would trust my child's mental health with.

JungleMum40 · 05/06/2021 13:05

@dappledsunshine Your opinion is your opinion, I own a gym and have a child with extremely bad anxiety, if you feel like this why don’t you message me I will be happy to explain to you what my D is going through ? If not I suggest that you stop with the tit for tat! Thanks

Mibb2 · 05/06/2021 13:11

Double - no probs. It really was a great program that I was on at CAMHS. I would have loved it if there had been more sessions during the weeks that it ran (I think it was 12 weeks) and ongoing support afterwards, not just from our Whatsapp group for parents, but from the facilitators as well. I guess that's what would interest me in YCFF - I think the idea of having ongoing support like this is a good one (and expensive too). It's just the other things that I'm mentioned, that concern me and put me off. Not to mention the price is completely outside what I could afford.

Good was it you who shared this earlier? I have just watched, and I think this answers my question about techniques that YCFF have for coping with a child who is very reluctant to come to the screen. www.yourchildfreedomformula.com/post/a-secret-technique

DoubleTweenQueen · 05/06/2021 13:18

@Mibb2 It sounded like a really good course - wish we had that here. Sadly, CAMHS are even more stretched than ever so that level of engagement would not be readily available, if at all. I may make enquiries though.

DoubleTweenQueen · 05/06/2021 13:21

And yes, I'd also be happy to pay for whatever support myself and my dds needed, if I could quantify & verify.

Mibb2 · 05/06/2021 13:25

Double - that's definitely the case here (Scotland) too with CAMHS getting more and more stretched.

TBH I think i was lucky to be there at the "right" time with my DD (Early 2019). Things move slowly as well, so a new course like this might take a while to be rolled out, and again would depend on funding etc. I'm really not sure how it would work online either. Aside from anything else, providing a safe and confidential space for parents would be hard to do over a video call.

If it helps, the course was called PACE (Parenting Anxious Children Every Day). I have looked it up online and can't find much information though. I think it was only run at the CAMHS centre we went to, and was adapted from some other established parenting courses.

TeenMinusTests · 05/06/2021 13:33

I've just watched the video.
I'm left feeling a sense of disquiet that I can't quite put my finger on.

DoubleTweenQueen · 05/06/2021 13:35

@Mibb2 We're doing ok with dd2 and her anxiety, but dd1 has a slightly different issue, and I think a supportive group led by professionals would really help. She's with CAMHS. They are realising she needs a deeper level of support at this stage so will see what comes from that. Everything on zoom though - removes a lot of the warm humanity.

Apologies for being a bit cryptic.

GoodButNaughty · 05/06/2021 13:47

@Mibb2 yes it was me that posted the link to the video (my friend shared it with me)

@TeenMinusTests yes that’s a good explanation for how it left me feeling too.

Has anyone watched the Nxivm cult documentary called ’The Vow’?

I have and many of the approaches my friend has described have worrying similarities to approaches used by their members Confused. My friend was warned by another Mum early on in her journey with the Robins that Sam Robins is unstable and has the potential to be very irrational... I so wish more people felt able to speak up about their practices.

Please do PM me in confidence if you wish to as I fully intend to add to my growing file of evidence.

I also found out that following negative reviews on the FB page (which they were unable to delete due to FB policy) they removed the entire ‘review’ section and then set up trustpilot page (which they can unfortunately edit and control!).

DoubleTweenQueen · 05/06/2021 13:55

I've just watched the video. Interesting.
Put me in mind of my current gundog training approach - owner being trained to train the dog, in small steps following a framework. Owner gains confidence and relaxes and focusses on conveying the training to the dog in a positive and loving way. I go training with my beautiful springer Saturday mornings, so in mind. Apologies if the analogy is coarse.

DoubleTweenQueen · 05/06/2021 14:06

I should add, the video doesn't convey much of substance. I note the parent's comment that 'upset' the speaker. Odd that such feedback would not be countered with context and reasoning to lessen the parent's concern, instead of taking exception to it.
Also - mentors seem to 'qualify' by shadowing the speaker, gaining some exposure to the methods, and showing a special something.

dappledsunshine · 05/06/2021 14:06

@TeenMinusTests

I've just watched the video. I'm left feeling a sense of disquiet that I can't quite put my finger on.
Same here. And who will be blamed if the child won't engage? The mum for failing to model the right attitude. Also what's with the focus on mums? (Very like a previous poster constantly referencing us "mums") Do the dads not play a part in this too?
Mibb2 · 05/06/2021 14:11

double your dog sounds lovely Smile

Good I don't think they can control trustpilot reviews, TP will only remove flagged reviews if they breach their rules. This is why teen's suggestion of posting factual reviews is sensible. The two reviews they were able to remove both claimed they were a pyramid scheme or a scam. They aren't either of those (at least in the strict sense) so they are able to flag them for review and Trustpilot will try to contact the reviewer to ask them to change it, or delete the review.

There is some quite detailed info about how many reviews have been flagged and how many were deleted and the reasons why or why not.

GoodButNaughty · 05/06/2021 14:23

@Mibb2 thank you for this information regarding TrustPilot reviews. I wasnt aware of this and I admit I should have checked what I was writing before posting, so thank you.

The fact that reviews can be posted even if they are not favourable and YCFF cannot remove them is good to know. I will share this with my freind.

Mibb2 · 05/06/2021 14:25

Also, I just wanted to add. ADHD is absolutely not caused by anxiety (as stated on the YCFF home page). Although many kids will have anxiety alongside it.

There's a long history of blaming mothers for their children's neurdivergence (look up historical medical thinking about Autism for example)

Current research shows that ADHD is not caused by certain types of parenting. The anxiety alongside ADHD is more likely to be a product of a neurodiverse child having to cope in a system (school etc) that's not set up for them.

I felt this was important to state. There's enough parental guilt around coping with a child's ADHD without having this piled on us as well.

Mibb2 · 05/06/2021 14:27

No probs good, we've been using Trustpilot at work, so I"ve had quite a good look at it recently!

You can see more details about a company by clicking on the 'see a detailed overview' on the right of the review page. It takes you here:

Good As well as factual, things from an 'I/me' point of view should be permissible.

I found that ....
The frequent sessions didn't work for me because ...
I think there isn't much ...
We gave full commitment but ...

GoodButNaughty · 05/06/2021 15:06

The website appears to have been updated again and now includes this:

^ How Much Is the Formula ?
The Recovery period for the child (or children we charge per family) is 6 - 12 weeks.
Our 3 daily Parent drop in sessions are included for 3 years + Lifetime access to the Portals + drop in sessions at 5pm for ALL our children for 3 years.
Prices start at £1500 - £5500 and can be spread across the 3 years if more convenient.
All families we speak to receive a free 5 pack mini course + Child portal.
Mums and Dad's (and Grandparents!) attend 3/4 drop in sessions long after their child has recovered and we welcome new and old families to always stay with us!
(Popular choice for most families is payable at approx. monthly £110.00)^

Why is there such a price range? Surely the charge is the charge? Can anyone doing the formula now comment on this?

DoubleTweenQueen · 05/06/2021 15:28

@Mibb2 Our dog us lovely :) Has brought a lot of love, activity, and fun to our family. Pets are so wonderful for stress!

TeenMinusTests · 05/06/2021 15:39

We are planning on getting a cat in August.
We promised DD during lockdown 1, but we were in such a bad place stresswise we weren't able to proceed.
It is only since ~Easter we have been ready, but then had GCSE assessments and upcoming holiday.
For now she is making do with all the neighbourhood cats, and walking dogs with friends.

Comfysofa78 · 05/06/2021 15:54

I would be interested to know if anyone has been quoted the lower prices as everyone seems to be given the £5.5k price.
As far as previous comments go, suggesting that some of us are not trying everything we can for our children, I am shocked at the judgement about people you know nothing about. It is never as easy as that. I have tried many things and mostly it has made things worse (almost to the point of A&E), it is sometimes better to do nothing in those cases, provide a living home and time to relax and reflect. Nobody should be judging anyone else, I can 100% believe that everyone is here to do whatever hey can for their family. It’s just difficult to get past the vague and secretive methods if you’re spending thousands.

dappledsunshine · 05/06/2021 15:59

@TeenMinusTests allowing our ds to get a cat has been therapeutic. If he has a bad day he comes home and finds dcat curled up on his bed, plus the stroking and purring helps 😊
