Not my first car but a later one.....

Single wiper blade (for the driver only), operated my turning a chunky switch on the motor itself which was mounted at the bottom of the windscreen.

No heater.

Windscreen that folded flat on the bonnet. Roof & doors that could be lifted off and left at home.

Third seat between driver & passenger (and no seatbelts for any of them).

A choke.

I would also add, annoying younger sister who I had to ferry round everywhere as soon as I'd passed my test! It wasn't so much that, it was the fact we were into "saving the earth" etc (80s) and whilst being ferried round she said she would outlaw comfortable cars (heating, good suspension etc) and the seats should be made of scratchy sacking to discourage long journeys (she was 12 tbf...) Love her really, even though she's still bossy 😂

Suspect it's what I mentioned a while back - certainly on some cars (e.g. some Morris Minors ) you switched the headlights between high beam and dip by pressing a spring loaded pedal, bit like a big button on the floor.

www.scotts-classiccarspares.co.uk/MORRIS-MINOR-1000-1963-71-FLOOR-MOUNTED-HEADLIGHT-DIP-SWITCH

Was coming on to say choke ( mine had a clothes peg accessory too ! 🤣) and wind- down lever to open windows - had totally forgotten the floor button to dip the lights !

1970 : just passed my test , and the very proud owner of a sludge green Morris Minor with a split windscreen that I suspect was older than me .
Split windscreen wasn’t damaged, it was a design feature !

A hole for the radio

I'm in my 50s but didn't get a car until I was 48 - and I still have it. So I can only answer - a pristeen bodywork as sadly dh has dinged it multiple times.

Yiayoula · 22/12/2025 13:33

Forgot to add - little yellow Perspex indicators that popped out halfway down each side.

A leak.

I had a choke, and a leak too (fuel if i filled the tank up completely, i just used to make sure i never put more than £20 in on an empty tank and it was fine - those were the days!!).

Wing mirrors which were down the front end of the wing. If you needed to adjust them you had to get out of the car, adjust them by hand and get in the car again to check you had got it right.
It was a 1976 Vauxhall Magnum

Lulu1919 · 22/12/2025 13:40

A sunroof that opened if I went over a speed bump. Roll down window handle that continually came off in your hand. I loved that car. It was almost as old as me!

Fallulah · 22/12/2025 13:42

A stereo where you popped the front off and took it with you.
