A massive hole in the floor that you could see the road through.

RedRiverShore6 · 22/12/2025 11:58

A choke and a peg to hold it out a bit

ReignOfError · 22/12/2025 11:59

No power steering
No ABS
No automatic headlights
No automatic windscreen wipers, and no variable speed

I learned to drive quite a long time ago.

OtherS · 22/12/2025 12:00

Choke
Wind down windows
Tape player
Oddly squidgy steering wheel
No button key, or central locking - had to put key in each door to lock or unlock
Only four gears

Bloody loved it though, white G reg fiesta 1.1 - £2000 in 1997.

Wooden peg to put on my choke as it wouldn’t stay pulled out. Two pegs for v cold mornings.

Same here

drspouse · 22/12/2025 12:00

Gears. Air cooling. And yes window handles and tape deck. Blue internal paintwork because the outside had been sprayed black but not most of the inside. Holes for the speakers the previous owner hadn't put in.

pinkpony88 · 22/12/2025 12:07

TimeForATerf · 22/12/2025 12:18

A little ignition bar between the front seats that you used to start it. Fiat 126 and already ancient when I had it in 1984.

magicstar1 · 22/12/2025 12:18

A choke.
My current car still has a tape deck, roll down rear windows, cigarette lighter etc.

Nourishinghandcream · 22/12/2025 12:19

Foot operated Hi/Lo switch.

Lifelover16 · 22/12/2025 12:20

Sliding windows (1968 mini)

MYOB12 · 22/12/2025 12:21

Choke. Cassette player.

Foot operated Hi/Lo switch.

I have to ask, a what?

TaraC25 · 22/12/2025 12:24

Wind down windows. It didn't have power steering either, so trying to parallel park that with a huge pregnant tummy almost touching the steering wheel was fun!!

mugglewump · 22/12/2025 12:26

A red triangle because I lived in France. It also had an ashtray, a choke, manual gearbox, manual windows, a cassette player, a sunroof and separate keys for the doors and ignition.

SabrinaThwaite · 22/12/2025 12:31

Sliding and hinged windows
4 speed gearbox
Choke with clothes peg accessory
Distributor cap and HT leads (invariably slightly damp)
Drop down boot lid
Seatbelt free back seat

notimagain · 22/12/2025 12:49

Suspect it's what I mentioned a while back - certainly on some cars (e.g. some Morris Minors ) you switched the headlights between high beam and dip by pressing a spring loaded pedal, bit like a big button on the floor.

Andthatrightsoon · 22/12/2025 12:50

A floor mounted switch to operate high-beam (early Mini).

AgnesMcDoo · 22/12/2025 13:19

Mendeleyev · 22/12/2025 11:02

Choke.
A leak.

Both of these 🤣.

I also used a clothes peg on the choke to stop it going back in

Hammer to wallop the starting motor.
Choke.

Screwdriver to scrape the corrosion off the battery before it would start!
Spring poking through driver's seat.
