My wife, age 82, has been very lethargic for a few months, doesn't want to eat, sleeps a lot, no energy, etc.

On Sunday, she was okay, more or less, and we did a quick grocery shop.
On Monday, she was distinctly unwell, and we went to ER.
On Wednesday, she was moved to the cancer floor.
On Thursday, we were advised her cancer is terminal, and she has only a few months to live.

The children (all adults) are in shock. As am I, I suppose. She will be coming home as soon as the hospital finish all their tests, and I have to arrange palliative care, etc. Lots of things... making a bedroom downstairs, getting a walk-in shower installed.

Wow, my world has changed really quickly...

@CanadianJohn i am so sorry to read this, for you & your family, what a dreadful shock. 30 days is no time at all to come to terms & be prepared for the loss of your lifelong partner & mother to your children. I am really so very sorry for your loss.

EeesandWhizz · 16/03/2024 22:37

So sorry to hear of your loss, please look after yourself John, and make sure that you keep eating and drinking - fill the fridge with ready meals if it's easier, or just keep going with tea and biscuits. My dad had to deal with the same thing just over a year ago - just keep on going however feels right for you and do whatever it takes to get through it, thinking of you, xx.

Just to let you know that my beloved wife Pamela died today, at the age of 82, of cancer.

She had no pain at any time, and died at home, as she wished.

Just 30 days from diagnosis to death.

John

I'm so very sorry for your loss John. It sounds like your beloved Pamela had a peaceful passing in surroundings that were a comfort to her at the end. May her memory be a blessing. RIP Pamela 🙏

Dibbydoos · 16/03/2024 22:53

I'm so sorry to read your post @CanadianJohn

It's obviously a huge shock to everyone 😢

Please make memories, record her voice and if you can, get some video of her.

It's hard to find the right words, even though I lost my hubby 9 years ago today, so I'm sending you a big hug xxx
