The nights are getting lighter, so surely it's about time to start seeing what stuff is new and essential this year! Have the bunting and fairy and fairy lights ;o) so what do I need this year?!

I'm not sure how new it is (but its new to us!) but before Christmas I happened across a small table (about 30 x 30cm) which has a pole and spike which detach - perfect size for 2 drinks and a bottle of wine. My drink is always the one that gets knocked over on the grass or out the camping chair but for weekends we don't tend to take a separate table (table in the van) so I was quite excited!

Ive also bought 3 camping pillows that wiggle up really small but that's not revolutionary and only exciting to me :)

I found a collapsible silicon-in-bright-colours-with-a-hard-rim washing up bowl in TK Maxx last week. I can't begin to tell you how ridiculously pleased I was :)

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 17/02/2013 21:46

I'm sure that we don't need anything new for this year, but I will just watch this thread in case!

Uppermid · 17/02/2013 22:14

Matildaduck We have a inflatable sofa (cheap £10 from ebay) but to be honest we prefer proper camping chairs.

They're not that heavy when inflated and tend to blow away in a bit of wind so you can't really leave them outside when you're not using them. So you need space to put them somewhere or go through the hassle of blowing them up and letting them back down again every time you want to use it. Plus we often go to campsites that allow fires which isn't such a great idea with flammable plastic.

Nice idea and certainly comfy, just not very practical for us where we go camping. Smile

Matildaduck · 18/02/2013 17:48

Thank you, i was thinking for inside the bell tent. Might have a think about it now.

Lovecat · 18/02/2013 19:02

We have an inflatable chair that's like half a sofa, DD used to sleep on it unfolded as she used to roll and the arms prevented that. It was very comfy as a chair. I'm currently eyeing up the sofa version in Wilko's for £30 for inside the Bell, but it's a hideous orange flock...

I have my eye on this. No laughing at the back.

tattychicken · 05/03/2013 19:42

That is fab!!! I need one!Grin

CaveyLovesPendleton · 05/03/2013 20:17

Grin and not sooo expensive.

UptoapointLordCopper · 05/03/2013 20:25

Sorry I am laughing at the snack stand ... But it is very jolly. Grin

nottersgotterdonkey · 05/03/2013 20:27

That's a lovely snack stand CaveylovesPendleton.

Bramblesinafield · 05/03/2013 21:03

It Los as if it might be a little unstable if perched on a hillock. May I suggest balancing one side with a stack of hobnobs or pink wafer biscuits?

CaveyLovesPendleton · 05/03/2013 21:06
Wink you need to picture it, with morsels of fromage in one compartment, olives in another, maybe caperberries and some poppadums. A glass or two of pinot. Good company. A welsh sunset. I'm not sure I can live without it, now I know it exists
Crikeyblimey · 05/03/2013 21:20

That snack stand is simply fabulous! I did snigger and then the voice in my head said "but think how lovely it would be". I'm sure it would raise a smile every time it was used.

Our friends (well the female of the couple - cos no man would ever think it necessary) have the fold up bright coloured washing up bowl. It is lovely, useful and made my friend smile ridiculously every time she used it last summer.

A bit off the wall but THE best accessory we took to France last year was a cheap kettle from Wilkos (not really in the camping spirit and you do need ehu but making tea was so much quicker and easier than on the stove).

Abzs · 05/03/2013 21:41

This kettle just came to my work - it's ace! We spent a happy while unpacking the whole range and playing with it. Yes, we are gear freak saddos, but we work in an outdoor shop, it's our raison d'etre Grin
