So I'm using my fitness pal and it has allocated 1460 calories per day

I am 5ft 7in and currently weigh 17 st 6lbs

For the last week I have just gone up and down between 17 5 and 17 7

Am I eating too much?

I am now 15 stone 1 and 5’8 and MFP gives me 1460 cal for 1.5 lb week off.

It is working for me, but I don’t lose consistently. Depending on where I am in my cycle I can go up and down a few lb for 3 weeks and then 5lb falls off my lowest weight just after my period ends!

So I would suggest sticking with it and looking at your 1 month rolling average weight loss rather than weekly loss on MFP.

Outbutnotoutout · 18/03/2021 18:40

Thank you 😊

I'm going yo give it till the end of March and drop calories if I'm still not losing.

I find I don’t loose weight if my diet is carb heavy. Also, only weigh once a week.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/03/2021 09:30

Your weight will go up and down during the week. I can be 2kg heavier on Sunday than Monday🤷🏻
Bodies are really bad comedians.

And no, unless you have serious metabolic desease or are bed bound you shouldn't need less than that. It will kick in. Not everyone geta some massive lost first week.😁

Outbutnotoutout · 19/03/2021 12:23

Been doing 1460 calories since 10th March

Before that it was 1810 calories since 1st March

Just got to stick with it I think

That calorie count sounds quite low! MFP is quite mean. I’m lighter than you and I’m on 1770 (that’s with moderate exercise, which to me is over 5k steps per day). I’m losing steadily. Maybe try a couple of TDEE calculators and take an average? Might be higher.
Also, good luck. It’s hard!

Blackbutterfly5 · 21/03/2021 10:54

I’m on mfp and it’s given me 1200 calories to stick to a day to lose weight. I’m only 5ft though and I’m currently about 9 stone 3.
I’ve been doing it for about a month now and have lost about 3lbs. Although some days I have gone over the calories I’m meant to have. So it’s coming off slowly. It is hard some days though but i think if I don’t do it now I never will so trying really hard to stick to it. I want to get down to my pre children weight of 8 stone so quite ambitious.

Outbutnotoutout · 21/03/2021 12:36

I am sticking to it, no matter what and I'm not starving.

I am however, hungry between meals and its not a feeling you get very often as an adult, because you can eat whenever. I like the getting hungry and I'm enjoying my meals more.

Dp does all the cooking, I just eat it lol

I haven't lost anything since 1 March 😖 what am I doing wrong

OP posts:
BeastOfBODMAS · 23/03/2021 09:31

Are you measuring cooking oil (or is your DP)?

You could easily add a few hundred odd calories of oil to an otherwise healthy days meals and put you over calorie goal.

I have found 1 tbsp oil easily does a roasting tin of potatoes carrots and parsnips for two, so I count 60cal oil in my roast dinner.

Recipes that show the calorie count often don’t seem to include the 3tbsp oil they have you use to sweat an onion, plus an extra ‘drizzle’ of olive oil here there and all over the place.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 23/03/2021 09:48

Yes to the oil.
I saw beautiful healthy recipe which had like 3 tbsp of olive oil😂 No sireeee, that doesn't fly here.

Outbutnotoutout · 23/03/2021 12:05

We don't use any cooking oil

Tell us an average day on your calories, and we can see where you might go wrong.

I'm the same height as you and used to be your weight and I can tell you now that it does work!!!

Blackbutterfly5 · 23/03/2021 12:25

Maybe up your exercise a bit? Cut down by an extra 100 calories? I always add an extra 50/100 calories in the snacks to account for milk in tea/coffee. It should eventually come off, after a month you should notice.

GreenBalaclava · 23/03/2021 14:52

I'm surprised you're not losing if you're sticking to 1460 calories. Are you also exercising and using that to decrease your calorie allowance?

Outbutnotoutout · 23/03/2021 15:11

Can I email someone my diary please 🙏

PurpleDaisies · 23/03/2021 15:14

Just post it here.

Are you sure you’re weighing and measuring absolutely everything?

It's not that simple, would take me ages to type everything out

Weighing and measuring everything

Maybe if I report this post MNHQ can work it out for me

Have you calculated your TDEE? You put your stats in and can get an idea of how many calories a day you burn just existing, and then implement a calorie deficit from there depending how much a week you want to lose.

tdeecalculator.net/

I am working to a 1000 calorie deficit and I’m steadily losing 2lb a week. Might be worth checking how it compares to MFP?

Right I have just done that

2133 so 1400 calories is a 733 deficit

That's a small amount of food. I used to drop down to 1200 and below to lose weight and in the end your body adjusts to the low cals. I made myself so miserable and yoyo'd for years.

I have lost 32lbs since Sept on 1800 (latterly 1900 as I have upped my workouts). I'm 5ft 7 and just about to hit 11stone and still losing albeit even slower than before.

I sound a bit evangelical but wasted nearly a decade after DC being fat or hungry (often both) when I could have just been sensible and taken it slowly, however slow it is it won't take me 10 years!

Outbutnotoutout · 23/03/2021 17:09

I'm not starving
But I do feel hungry between meals, which is good. I am enjoying my meals more as well, instead of just grazing

So 3 days in a row now I have hit 10,000 steps, it better make a difference 🙏😇😒
