So I'm using my fitness pal and it has allocated 1460 calories per day

I am 5ft 7in and currently weigh 17 st 6lbs

For the last week I have just gone up and down between 17 5 and 17 7

Am I eating too much?

OP posts:
Outbutnotoutout · 26/03/2021 09:27

Ffs, I am just either 17.5, 17.6, 17.7 and back down again.

It’s a marathon not a sprint. Someone wise said you me that weight didn’t go on overnight and it won’t go off overnight. It’s hard to keep motivated when the scales are static though. Flowers

Have you thought about measuring yourself? I often see inches lost even if I haven’t lost weight.

ChunkyMonkey2020 · 26/03/2021 10:21

Have you checked the James smith calculator??

My weight is slightly higher then yours and I've lost 20lbs in just over 6 weeks and I'm eating 2000 calories a day.

FlatEarthling · 26/03/2021 11:16

Oh no! That so disappointing for you OP.
You should be losing more in the first couple of weeks on a diet.

How about posting what you eat, a food diary, maybe there are some easy changes to make you haven't spotted.

Turquoisa80 · 26/03/2021 11:24

I'm using mfp which said 1200 calories for me at 5ft1 and it's madness how quickly the calories add up. A tablespoon of sunflower oil is a 135 calories. I'm trying to include more vegetables, reduce the starch and sugars. Its such a slog.

Outbutnotoutout · 26/03/2021 11:43

I can 100 % promise you we are measuring every single thing to the gram.

Every single thing I eat, I log

I don't eat back any exercise calories

I just seem stuck in this endless 2lb gain, loss, gain,.loss, gain, loss 🥺🤪🙃

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 26/03/2021 11:45

Perhaps you need to visit your gp to have your thyroid checked.

What is it that you’re actually eating at the moment?

Outbutnotoutout · 26/03/2021 12:11

Always have the same breakfast
2 weetabix
140g semi skimmed milk
10g sugar
222 calories

Then
Homemade soup
Parsnip, carrot

And a rice mix
Boiled rice
Chicken
With peppers
Onion
Broccoli
Soy sauce

1400 calories per day

OP posts:
Gensola · 26/03/2021 12:15

I’d ditch the weetabix and sugar for breakfast and have two eggs with mushrooms and spinach.
Rice - make sure it’s brown rice as your body will recognise and process white rice as sugar.

FlatEarthling · 26/03/2021 12:23

Nothing with the soup?

I'd try to raise fibre and cut back on carbs.

I'm on the BMI 40+ diet thread. I've had several weeks like this ( I'm similar weight to you)
I've cut out rice ( use cauliflower) and pasta ( now use courgettes)
I have some bread or a wrap occasionally.
I have also stopped cereal and milk but I'm not a breakfast fan so that was easy.
Ive swapped to lower fat cheddar.

I'm on 1400 ish calories, losing 2lb a week roughly. Not a massive amount of exercise as my body is knackered from a life of being fat.
I have just bought a rowing machine but I won't use it in the week as my work days are too long.

Are you drinking enough water?

I think I might join Team RH they are having good results

You'll need a strong stomach for them.
The main character is so sweary and borderline abusive.

Google Dan wheeler he’s on TikTok. He says that no one should be eating under 1600 calories. I’ve been eating 1300-1400 a day and my weight has stalled. So I’m taking his advice and upping my calories for a week to 1600-1700 to see if it makes any difference. I’m also doing 10,000 steps a day too 🤞🏻 For some good results Grin xx

Outbutnotoutout · 27/03/2021 08:58

So weighed this morning and I'm 17.5

AGAIN

OP posts:
DianaT1969 · 27/03/2021 09:23

So you don't eat any protein until dinner?
I weigh less than you, but think I'm insulin resistant. I would feel ill if I had a carb breakfast like yours with added sugar. Then carb lunch. I think you may need to rethink what you eat in terms of the effect on insulin. Dr Jason Fung videos on the Obesity Code explains it.

Outbutnotoutout · 27/03/2021 10:22

That's just one day

Sometimes we have protein at lunch

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 27/03/2021 10:26

Changes really don’t happen overnight.

I’d follow your plan of (however many) calories for at least another week before weighing again.

PurpleDaisies · 27/03/2021 10:27

I agree with cutting carbs down and eating more protein which will keep you fuller.

itsgettingwierd · 27/03/2021 10:40

I'm also using my fitness pal.

I'm also 5"7 and 10 days ago I was 14st 10.8lb

My daily calories are 1280.

Are you adding everything you eat? (I'm keeping 20 cals at least below my target to allow for a dab of salad cream etc)

I'm also making sure I do walking daily and add it in so I can 'earn' extra calories for days I'm hungry or want something a little higher in calories.

So I'm eating between 1100-1300 cals a day.

I weighed this morning and I'm 14st 1.8lbs.

I was actually quite surprised as I'm eating more but obviously just better!

Outbutnotoutout · 27/03/2021 10:48

I have joined Team RH this morning

Adding every single thing
Weighing and measuring every single thing
Not eating my exercise calories
Sticking to 1400 calories per day

Anyway Team RH have given me 2400 calories, which has shocked me 🙃

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 27/03/2021 10:49

I’m confused-is it 1400 or 2400?

stickssss · 27/03/2021 10:59

I joined Team RH on 1st March, I'm currently on 2200 calories with 10k steps per day and have lost 10lbs so far. Make sure you track everything that passes your lips and hit your protein and fibre targets every day. Their method clearly works and the results on the Facebook members page speak for themselves. Good luck!

Outbutnotoutout · 27/03/2021 11:34

@PurpleDaisies

I’m confused-is it 1400 or 2400?
Since 1 March I have stuck to 1400 calories (about the first week it was 1800)

Today I joined Team RH and they have given me 2400 calories
