Calorie-counting

I'm 5foot 2 and weigh 14stone 8lb

How did this happen. I am so, so ashamed of myself. I used to weigh in 13 stone, then overhauled my whole diet and got down to 9stone 8lb.

But I've put it all back on. And so much more. This is shameful and I cannot believe I have let it get this bad. I've even had to buy some size 20 tops. I have tried slimming world but that didn't really
Work for me. So I'm back to calorie counting. And 5:2. From today. I've got to stop making excuses. I am going on an amazing holiday in January with my 2 best friends and. CAN'T be the size I am now.

I am sick of feeling tired, uncomfortable and just plain shit because of what I eat. I've taken before photos (won't post them as they would scar you forever) and have stuck a photo of myself at my smallest when I still thought I looked fat on the fridge for inspiration. I can do this!!!

Well done for drawing a line under it telly.

I have put on a pound this morning so I'm really not impressed with myself. Just goes to show how much difference it makes when you done move around. Yesterday I spent 14 hours at my desk and basically went straight to bed so my step count would have been zilch.

I woke up with the wind too, it was crazy! I'm just about to brave it on my walk to the station..... Shock

I have a Fitbit but sit at a desk all day and a few weeks ago, my step count by 11am was.....192. I'd walked to my car from my front door, then from the car park (bang outside work) to my desk. How pathetic. Do you have time for a lunch break? Even a quick 20 minute walk around the block might help?

Good luck with the wind, I wouldn't put an umbrella up though or you might end up like Mary Poppins!

Yeah I have a Fitbit too, I ought to charge it up really. Today will be a good day, I'll do about 12,000 so can't complain about that.

I don't take a lunch break, though nornally I could take a few minutes away from my desk if I wanted. This week though is just crazy so I doubt I'll get a chance. Hopefully it'll settle down a bit by tomorrow!

I think I am going to treat myself to a skinny latte when I get to work. I feel tired and grumpy and I need a pick me up! It's kinda cheating but surely a small one can't be thaaaaaat bad!

I need a kick.

I am not in the zone today at all. I picked up some biscuits in the staff canteen when I got a cup of tea but as I got near the til I put them back! Phew.

Then I keep thinking about having lunch but my will power today is so crap that I know I'll choose something bad and then it'll be a slippery slope for the rest of the afternoon. I'm not actually hungry. I just want to eat.

However; I really really fancy going out for dinner after work, and my fav restaurant has an offer on! I keep picking up my phone to text DH and then putting it down again. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah must not cave!!!!!! Really really really want to though :-(

12000 is amazing. On the average day I do about 4000 which I really need to increase.

Yep fingers crossed it'll down, for your sake and for the sake of your diet!!

How was the skinny latte. Hope it tasted AMAZING!!

I'm feeling the call of the vending machines but I will resist. Feel very resolute. Feel really hungry now but hopefully that'll go in a min. Plus, I feel so much better then I did after I'd had my second lunch

Also, can I just say how helpful I am finding this thread. Talking about dieting in real life makes me sound boring, plus I feel a bit embarrassed because of putting all the weight I managed to lose before. I feel like if I talk about it in real life, people just assume I'm going to fail. So yep, this thread is really helping me Grin

I'm glad you are finding it useful telly. Me too. In fact I think I'm talking to my new internet diet friends more than my DH 😂😂😂. My skinny latte was epic! I really think I want to be naughty and go out for dinner.

I've just completed my massive pressured assignment and I feel like celebrating. Honestly I've had that awful tight chest panic feeling solidly for the last two days and suddenly I'm freeeeee!!

I am struggling to find the motivation to kick my willpower into gear. Wahhhhhh.

Hi team!!

I'm down over 6lb in a week, Counting calories and recording everything is good for me. :)

I can recommend Noom - new app. You get a coach and everything. :)

Keep going! It will be worth it in the end.

Wow well done Boosiehs!

I do sort of like running. I like having the time to myself and being outdoors. Haven't run yet this week but will try to tomorrow plus park run again on Saturday.

Today I turned down biscuits so there's a small victory. Food has been toast with peanut butter and banana this morning and tuna sweetcorn sandwiches for lunch. One coffee, one tea and a small bag of popcorn in the car (I am horrific for secret car eating so that's pretty good, it could easily have been a packet of biscuits). Beef noodle thing from the Slimming World website for dinner. Plus my toddler's leftovers which is something I also need to address...

Wow that is amazing boos!!!

And heir, well done!! Popcorn is much better than a packet of biscuits. Wahoooooo.

I think we are getting a takeaway tonight but I will order chicken and spinach and try to resist everything else.

Well done Boo!! 6 lb is brilliant.

Well, I've just got in from a 'charity' Anne Summers party. Because nothing says charity like a vibrator and nipple tassels Wink I gave into temptation of the buffet and ate a cheese roll and and angel cake :( but had a look at the packages definitely didn't have to dig them out the bin and they come in at 340 cals for both so I'm quite pleased.

Heir you sound like you're doing really well. Leftovers aren't really a problem for me luckily as ds always has meat and I'm veggie but one tip I read was as soon as they say they're finished, put it straight in the bin. Even if you think it's a waste of food, just get rid of it. Easier said than done though I know.

Iampert I hear the secret to a happy marriage is to ignore your husband as much as physically possible so I say this group is good for your marriage 😂😂 congratulations on finishing your work, must be a good feeling! And now you can enjoy your weekend away. How was the takeaway? Good to know we can still enjoy treats whilst making healthy choices. On that note, does anyone know if the tomato base on a pizza count as one of your five a day? Asking for a friend...

I am guilty of pinching bits off his plate whilst he's still going Blush But an ok day, the noodles were delicious and allowed myself a small treat of a little jam tart as had a stressful day. Finishing on 1400 calories, I'm aiming for 1300 a day so slightly over but not horrific.

OooOooo telly, are we allowed to ask if you bought anything at this party?! 340 cals doesn't sound toooo bad.

Wellll I ended up going out rather than a takeaway. DH's decision. Unfortunately by that time I'd resolved to cook but he was having none of it. He went crazy with the ordering and I was a disaster. I ate 2/3 of a portion of chicken tikka (no sauce - so far so good!) and then ate a whole side of creamy saag paneer, and one and a half onion bhaji. I didn't touch the rice or naan and steered clear of alcohol so I'm trying not to view it as the end of the world, but it was far from ideal. Ooooooops.

Heir your noodles sound good!!!

No I didnt but anything, I already own everything I need ;) I did purchase a cake for ds and me to have tomorrow, i am all for doing my bit for charity 😂

Still sounds fine to me and I bet you're still under your calorie count for the day. I've had to bring myself to bed because I was SO tempted to phone a takeaway. They're going be sending search and rescue out for me soon if I don't order, I'm their number on customer. How are they going to pay the mortgage without my twice weekly orders?!?

Hi - do you mind if I join you? I'm 5'1" and probably about 11.5-12 stone, but I wouldn't know for sure as I don't have scales Blush I've read all your posts and I can relate to so much of it!! The main problem for me is sort of incidental eating, if you know what I mean. I work at home (surrounded by food) for three days, then go into the office for two days - it's a really long commute and a long day and I'm always bloody starving and end up eating junk on the way home (why do train stations have to sell so much food?!). So those are the things I need to change. I play a bit of tennis and I walk a lot but that's it. Has anyone tried fitness Blender on YouTube? That looks quite good.

Welcome Benham!
Of course you can join! I know exactly what you mean sadly. I dona lot of driving and I'll think nothing or grabbing a fizzy drink/grab bag of crisps/chocolate bar to see me through the journey and then cal at some fast food restaurant on the way because I'm 'starving'. There's temptation everywhere and it takes the will of steel to resist. Are you planning on calorie counting?

I have to say, since I've been doing th fasting and trying to stick to one meal a day, I have felt so much better and its reprogramming my mind into what hunger is. Previously, if I had a twinge of hunger I would eat immediately (plus all the eating when I wasn't actually hungry but bored/tired/fed up etc) because I think we're conditioned to think feeling hungry is a terrible thing when in reality it's not at all, and our bodies are fine waiting longer for food.

Heir, 1400 is brilliant and I think the jam tart is a nice little treat, can't deprive ourselves completely. Also, can you recommend anywhere for decent (but not stupidly priced) running clothes. The ones I have are too big (hahahahhaahaha haven't said that in a while) and just fall down so need to invest in some proper ones.

Hope everyone has a good day today, I need to drag myself out of bed but it's sooo cosy

Morning ladies.

Welcome benham. Are you going to do a particular diet or just try and cut out the eating-for-the-sake-of-eating?

I'm working from home again today. Just stood on the scales and I weigh the same as yesterday morning so hopefully I've got away with my curry. Official weigh day is going to be Fridays for me though so it all comes down to tomorrow! I do need to make myself move today though. Doesn't help that I just got back into bed!!!

Thank you for the nice welcome! Smile I'm logging everything on MFP so yes, just calorie-counting really. It is so hard to resist temptation when on the way home after a long day and it's so easy to buy something unhealthy (I always do). I am just going to have to force myself to be organised by bringing healthy snacks - that doesn't come naturally to me at all!! I also want to make sure I eat 5 fruit/veg a day to leave less room for crap (that's the plan anyway). I like the idea of a weekly photo - I will do that or buy some scales! Good luck today everyone.

Hi Benham!

I'm afraid my running clothes are pretty bog standard! My favourite leggings are from Tesco Blush Decathlon is good if you have one near you. But I wear any old crap really, usually cheap gym pants and a band t-shirt. My charity running top for the 10k arrived yesterday and it's a bit snug so there's some extra incentive.

Apologies if it is boring, but here's today's planned food - it helps me to stick to the plan if I tell someone else about it! B: oats, fruit and yogurt and a coffee. L: ham salad. Snacks at work - an apple, nectarine and Go Ahead bar. Not sure on dinner yet as DH is going out, probably something like scrambled eggs as quick and easy.

I love hearing other people's meal plans heir!

I wish I could be happy with scrambled eggs for dinner. In my head that's breakfast and if I had it for dinner I'd feel unsatisfied. They're good go because they are filling and full of protein.

Today I am having a few teas and coffees and have treated myself to some flavoured fizzy water. Dinner tonight is leftovers - last nights curry for lucky DH and tuesday's chilli for me, with some asparagus and broccoli on the side.

All I really want to eat is a huuuge steaming plate of noodles. But I won't! Halo

Are you low carbing lampert? If not then a small portion of noodles with a load of veg and a bucket of soy sauce would be fine!

I don't generally like massive dinners, I am hungry in the day but not so much in the evening. DH being out is a good excuse to eat eggs and toast as he wouldn't see it as 'proper' dinner but I love it. Might have beans too for extra bulk...

Ahh that's good lampert. I can go all day without food no probs but inreallllly look forward to dinner and it's always my main meal.

Im not officially low carbing, I'm just cutting down. So trying to avoid pasta / rice / noodles / potatoes but not being super strict about it and not beating myself up if I have a little bit. I do think I am a bit addicted to carbs though, if I crave something it's always a plate of stodge, so I'm trying to mostly steer clear of them while I reset my brain and stomach. So far, so good.

Our mini break is going to be a problem though. DH is already talking about pub lunches and cooking in the evenings etc etc. I'm going to try not to go crazy but I will prob end up having lunch and dinner for 4 days and definitely some wine so I will inevitably put on a bit. But I'll try to make sensible choices and moderate portions and not go crazy. I really want to enjoy it though so it's a balance.
