Regular MFP users?

RoadRunner123 · 02/01/2015 14:54

Are there any regular committed MFP users around who would be my friend?!

I did MFP in 2011 and lost around 25lbs, I did couch to 5k and then did a 10K race. I felt good, fit, healthy and slim.

But, gradually, slowly, I have gone back to my old ways and now four years later, I am back up to a weight I'm not happy with and no longer run. I want to turn this back around, get back to my healthy weight and start running again.

I've got about 8 MFP friends but none of them use it regularly and I could do with some encouragement and pressure to keep at it!

I don't really want to post my username though as my profile on there has my photo and area I live and I like MN to be anonymous, so if anyone could message me or post user names, I will send a request.

Initial excuses though....it may take me a few days to get into it properly so I can do a healthy shop and get 'rid' (ie eat) of a few more Christmas chocolates!

Thank you!

I'm actually eating chocolates while I'm posting! I need help!

Bin them! You don't need to binge eat til they are gone

RoadRunner123 · 02/01/2015 15:41

I don't feel like I should bin them though as people bought them as presents for me. I could perhaps restrict though...one or two a day fits with MFP and running.

Maybe I should have said a bit about me....I am 5 foot 3, I currently weight 11 stone 1. Nine and a half is my aim but I'm quite happy under 10 stone. I'm 42 and have two children, 12 and 9.

I've just sent you my MFP username Smile I will be getting my mojo back after the weekend. I've lost 4 stone using MFP and my aim is about 9.5 stone too, so it's going to be a slog to get the last 10 lbs not to mention the Xmas 4 and having someone on my shoulder will be great! Heading up to put on my runners and head out for a 5km now

RoadRunner123 · 02/01/2015 16:12

Oh that will be great thank you. I don't have a message from you though....why would that be?!

Well done for the run, you'll be pleased you did it! (I remember that at least!)

OP posts:
FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 02/01/2015 16:20

Oh, I don't know why it didn't work, it was my first ever private message so I may have done something wrong! Anyway, tried sending a second one, so if you don't get that, can you send me your name and I'll see if I can figure out how to friend request you

RoadRunner123 · 02/01/2015 16:28

Hopefully I've sent you a message.

What I should have said before was fantastically well done for losing four stone, that's real dedication and achievement!

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 02/01/2015 18:31

Oh, thanks! It's taken me 18 months but I've totally changed my lifestyle so hoping it will stay off. mind you, MFP is a great conscience pricker, so I can see myself being still there at 80...

MrTumblesSpottyBag · 03/01/2015 15:44

I am MiloBelle on mfp, I am logging every day at the moment! Happy to have new friends Grin

BiscuitsAreMyDownfall · 03/01/2015 15:53

Im considering going back to MFP. Am a bit busy ATM so just marking my place and will have a look on the laptop later or if not tomorrow and let you know my username when I sign in (and find out what it is)

thobblywighs · 03/01/2015 16:07

I am thobblywighs on MFP. Another one who is happy to have new friends. I used it a lot before Christmas but have put on loads of weight over the holidays and need to get going again. I went back to SW last week but I found that MFP was more effective for me last time so am planning to sort of combine the two!

RoadRunner123 · 03/01/2015 16:25

Oh I'm really pleased there are some more replies - I will send out some friend requests in a minute. Thank you.

I've gone back to the beginning of couch to 5k today so I'm feeling positive!

thobblywighs · 03/01/2015 16:27

I have downloaded couch to 5k too! Just need to actually get outside now. I used to be able to run for miles pre children but ten years on, I can barely run up the stairs. :-(

RoadRunner123 · 03/01/2015 18:06

Start it this week, then we can do it together!

thobblywighs · 03/01/2015 18:15

Sounds like a plan. I'd like to get round my local park run without passing out in the first instance.

chubbymummy · 03/01/2015 18:23

I've just started using it again. I was doing really well at one point before I fell off the wagon. I've recently been pregnant, unfortunately I lost the baby but I piled on weight during pregnancy and have been comfort eating ever since. It's time to stop moping about and sort myself out though. I'm chubbymummy1976 and always happy to have new mumsnet friends on there. I won't add anyone in rl as I don't want them knowing what I weigh!

FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 03/01/2015 18:33

Definitely do the couch to 5k, anyone who's thinking about it. it's a great confidence boost getting through it. I've just figured out how to add my Run Keeper app on MFP, so hopefully synching trackers will keep me motivated. I am stopfeedingme if anyone wants to add me, although I'm a bit technically inept, so god only knows what I've done to my settings!

DH has also just joined MFP. After 1 day I'm already very tired of "that's HOW many calories??"/ "what type of rice is that?" / "how do I log xxxx?".

Ponyphysio · 03/01/2015 18:36

My name is the same on MFP. Log on and laugh at my crap efforts lol

Wrongornot · 03/01/2015 18:56

Feel free to add me - Gabyzaky

I used it between June and October last year and lost nearly 2 stone - then went on holiday and it all went to pot. I started running during this time too, working up to 15km runs.

I am starting again on Monday, both diet (1200 cals daily) and running (prob need to start C25K again)

Wrongornot · 03/01/2015 18:59

P.s I finished all my Christmas chocs last night, went out for lunch today and DH is collecting a chinese for dinner as I type...figured I am better getting it out my system now and the more I have to loose come Monday the better I will feel when I succeed...

Drinkstoomuchcoffee · 03/01/2015 19:11

I used it for the last 3 months of 2014 and lost 7 kilos. Have not used it since 23 December and rather dreading tomorrows weigh in! For me, the best thing about it is that if you faithfully record all that passes your lips during the day, you can put the brakes on in the evening. Before, I used to adopt the Omg i have already scoffed 2000 calories so another large red wine and packet of nuts will make no difference attitude. Returns sheepishly to glass of prosecco and vows to return to better ways on Monday.

MrTumblesSpottyBag · 03/01/2015 20:39

I really want to start the c25k, but I am a bit worried about running in the dark! Am I being silly?! I'm not sure if I am just making excuses!
Just had a lovely Jamie Oliver curry with cauliflower rice, it was lovely and a massive bowlful. Back to work on Monday and I'm starting 5:2ing. Kind of looking forward to it in a weird way!

RoadRunner123 · 03/01/2015 21:41

Thanks again everyone - I think I've sent a request to everyone who have given me their user names and my newsfeed is starting to look a lot more lively than it did yesterday. I did well today, but we're out for the day tomorrow and it may be a struggle so,forgive me if tomorrow is a blip...I am committed, honest!

Thobblywighs - I want to do a Parkrun too but want to make sure I'm not last first! I'm also out off by their posting of photos on Facebook!

Looks like there's a few of us who will be doing couch25k which will be good for motivation. I'm a very very slow runner even when I can run distances, I'm still slow.

mrTumblesSpottyBag - I wouldn't run in the dark so not sure it's just excuses. I'm lucky that I work part time, my children are at school and I have the weekend, so I can fit three runs a week in around all that (in theory I can anyway....I don't at the moment....but that's about to change!). Do you have any time while it's light?

OP posts:
FruitBasedDrinkForALady · 03/01/2015 22:07

MrTumble, are you in an urban area? I'm just in from my run. I'm in the burbs and find it fine. I have a reflective running top and I got some flashing arm bands in lidl, so I'm like a Christmas tree! But better seen early and well than too late. Most of the runners I see out have a minimum of hi vis vests on, so we're all glowing at each other Grin

I had an ok day, massive sausage sandwich brunch used up most of my calories for the day, so I had to have a run just to have dinner! I found it a really hard slog though and I'm really disappointed how much I've lagged over Xmas, so I'm feeling very sorry for myself now. Oh well, tomorrow is another day... Fingers crossed it's a good month for all of us.

Groovee · 04/01/2015 12:32

I'm grooveecar if anyone wants to add me.
