tehy are about to talk about whether breastfeeding should be kept off public transport. cant wait to see what rubbish they come up with, they always do BF a disservice when they talk about it.

And yet large men with moobs bigger than most womens breasts can wander freely around topless and nobody says a thing.

And moobs don't even have a purpose.

Just had a read of the thread. Am

I hate that BF is seen as a bad/embarassing thing. Even my GP today suggested I switch to formula as I (apparently) can't take medication for my hayfever

I don't watch loose women but tempted to email

I resent the fact that people think it's somehow only done for the mum's pleasure/benefit. There's an implication there that BF mums are paedophiles (extreme I know!)

iggly www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/drugs-in-breastmilk-information-and-factsheets.html - click on antihistamines.

Shame your GP told you there was nothing you could take for hayfever. Show him the factsheet

Thank you tiktok. And my GP is a woman... Despite knowing my DS has dairy intolerance and quite bad silent reflux she's suggested formula (the funny prescription only stuff) several times. BF has been the best thing for him, especially as there's a lot of solids he can't have either.

picklesrule · 28/06/2010 18:10

just had a friend over and made her very about it too..she is emailing also

Am still annoyed by it...the whole tenor of it was so sneery and negative..grrr!

I've been pretty lucky with not having any overly negative comments but I still get asked pretty regularly when I am going to stop, with the insinuation being that I should have by now (and my dd is only 9mths so can only imagine how it will continue in another few months)
And its stupid programmes like this that really reinforce peoples negative views...double grrr!

Igglybuff · 28/06/2010 18:12

pickles I'm getting the exact same question about giving up. My DS is also 9 months and the ILs have asked me so many times. I also asked them to give him some EBM and they asked me what milk it was. I told them it was mine and MIL said in a pointed/sarky way to DS "oh, only the best for you"

booyhoo · 28/06/2010 18:32

i got alot of those "when are you going to stop/how long are you going to do this for?" questions around about the 6 month mark. so in my experience people do assume bf is only for teh first 6 months. the questions soon stopped when i continued feeding through and beyond the 6 month marker and i have to say haven't had a comment about bf in months and ds is 13 months now. it is such a shame that people dont know more about BF in general.

Didn't see it, have only ever caught a couple of episodes and it generally seems a nasty, sneery, nagative sort of programme. Bitching about everyone while preening and thinking how fab they are. Bunch of deluded has-beens.
