tehy are about to talk about whether breastfeeding should be kept off public transport. cant wait to see what rubbish they come up with, they always do BF a disservice when they talk about it.

i was just thinking, wouldn't it be great if there was a breastfeeding programme on tv? or even a bf channel, a bit like kellymom, with loads of great info and different people's experiences and questions.

ooh what did your say mrsg?

I told her to have a drink in the toilet

booyhoo · 28/06/2010 14:32

I said:

@McGiff that was a misguided discussion you had on public breastfeeding. If it makes you uncomfortable, it's you who has a problem, not I.

But you know she'll probably laugh it off as the breastfeeding mafia. You know us, all braided armpit hair, tie dyed reusable nappies and our babies in handwoven hempen slings, jiggling our boobies and poking our nipples in the faces of people who only came in for a latte!

I have news for her.

I prefer a Flat White.

booyhoo · 28/06/2010 14:47

oh yeah, just remembered the oxo lady's (cant remember her name) impression of a bfing mother. very accurate

LOVE this thread, we should email them so someone can say something correct on air, and a better opinion about BF can be put across. they are all idiots, i dont like any of them. they all come across like they are stupid, sex craved, drunk idiots.

Thier whole argument was ridiculous, for gods sake, its 2010, has the womens movement stopped completely? why should we, as a woman, have to sit on a FILTHY DIRTY public toliet to BF our baby??? just to please ANOTHER WOMAN who doesn't want to see it. they should leave, I am tired of women not supporting women.

whats thier email?? post it up.

StealthPolarBear · 28/06/2010 15:15

lynda bellingham I always liked her what did she do?

booyhoo · 28/06/2010 15:26

lynda, thats her.

she made this exagerated impression of a woman wapping out her breast and pushing it up into carol's face. yes because that is how we all feed our dcs

Where on earth are these women having coffees?

I know plenty of chaps who'd be delighted to have a breast thrust in their faces. They'd be in that coffee shop like a shot.

Besides, feeding in the toilet is silly. I'd be hopping mad if I were waiting in a toilet queue because someone was breastfeeding in the cubicle.

Where would I put my tea and cake? Where, I ask, would my iPhone go, so I can look at twitter work whilst I feed?

I fail to see why people who have a problem with mothers feeding their children the best thing possible (which is essentially what bf is) can't just look somewhere else. Most women do it so discreetly that you have to stand starring at them before you can really figure out what's going on anyway.

We need people who have a clue discussing these things in the public arena ? not a load of idiots.

booyhoo · 28/06/2010 16:15

i bf 13 month old ds in my friend's house yesterday. she was sitting facing me about 2 feet away from me. he finished feeding and i set him down, he was tired and started to whinge and my friend said, "maybe he is hungry." she almost fell off her chair when i told her that i had just been feeding him right there infront of her. she couldn't believe how discreet it was that she didn't even notice me doing it. she thought he was just having a cuddle.

OP posts:
MathsMadMummy · 28/06/2010 16:36

booyhoo my friends have made that mistake too! it is so easy to be discreet. do these ladies not realise you can't even SEE the nipple because it is IN the baby's mouth. that's actually how BFing works... I know I know, hold the front page!!!

my dad visited us just now and I mentioned the LW debacle debate (because he'd seen the Wright Stuff this morning where they were talking about that M&B article) - he is angry on our behalf. He also said he's very proud of me for being confident enough to feed my DS anywhere. Bless him

booyhoo · 28/06/2010 16:42

he sounds like my dad mathsmad.

i know it isn't like they see nipples or anything (and so what if they do, i am sure they have seen alot more on those music channels). they see the area that is visible around the baby's head. nothing more than you would see on a summer's day walking down the street. the real problem is the fact that modern day britain (i am generalising here) equates breasts with sex and are uncomfortable when reminded of their primary function. it says so much about britains attitude to sex

OP posts:
OrmRenewed · 28/06/2010 16:44

Never seen it.

Why are they loose? Do they look like Wild West saloon women?

MathsMadMummy · 28/06/2010 16:45

loose brain-wiring, I'd say

booyhoo · 28/06/2010 16:47

loose:meaning loosely based on what women with little to do talk about in their spare time without any real grasp of the topics which they discuss?

OP posts:
OrmRenewed · 28/06/2010 16:48

Oh like 'the bloke down the pub' then ?

booyhoo · 28/06/2010 16:53

yes, except no peanuts or arse scratching (that you can see)

I just don't understand mothers having a problem with other mothers feeding their babies in the way nature intended

booyhoo · 28/06/2010 17:16

maryz, my ds is only 4 but i imagine he would feel as uncomfortable seeing people sunbathing naked as your son. as far as he is concerned, a boob is for feeding his younger brother.

OP posts:
MathsMadMummy · 28/06/2010 17:21

me neither littlemiss

although the fools LW did say that BFing is good... they just seemed more concerned over what someone else thought, than the baby getting adequate (scrap that, bloody brilliant) nutrition! ridiculous.

I've never had anyone say anything about me BFing - positive or negative. If people look I just smile as it shows I'm confident and happy - but if anyone ever does criticise, I'll just tell them it is their problem.

maryz - bless your DS you'd think adults could tell the difference too wouldn't you!
