WHY HAS MY POST ABOUT COW & GATE COMFORT FIRST MILK BEEN REMOVED?????

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 20:09

Just sharing the fact that it has really helped one of my twins sore tummy - I thought it was ggod to share tips but mumsnet seems to have removed my post???!!! Very vexed at this, as it does not seem in the spirit of the site. Sorry I bothered to write considering the limited time I have available whilst caring for my 13 week old twins and 5 year old.....

There isn't actually any need to swear at us- though admittedly it is a fine old Mumsnet tradition.

It was pointed out perfectly reasonably that the thread looked pretty identical to some advertising threads we have had lately. We have been somewhat overrun with these lately: somebody who hasn't been posting much recently suddenly feels the urge to tell us about some wonderful product they have just discovered (think cheesestrings).

And then the post ends, just like yours did, with some statistics that sound as if they had been taken out of an advertising brochure. Let's face it, that end sentence about whats-its-face only containing half the fats of other products- it did sound like something out of an advert. Not the way that ordinary posters would word a message.

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 20:42

No, no explanation.

Of course it was deleted, you weren't promoting breast feeding.

FWIW i don't think there was anything wrong with your post and I have seen many posts were it was obvious it was advertising.

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 20:44

I don't doubt your identity or that you have had a hellish experience Schmauskin.

But the structure of your post was rather similar to that of some other posters who have clearly been briefed by commercial companies to write advertising posts masquerading as ordinary posts.

If that was sheer coincidence and you have not received any incentive from Cow&Gate to promote their products, then I do apologise. But the suspicion was a natural one.

llaregguBOO · 16/10/2009 20:51

C'mon, calm down. You can't flounce over this!

I have to confess I preferred Nick Berry

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 20:55

Listen cory, I have not received any bloody incentive from anyone and feel outraged at your insinuation.

I will gladly accept your apology but I do think blithely removing posts without explanation is just NOT on.

OP posts:
Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 20:57

lockets - because cory was suggesting I was being paid to rave about fricking formula.

I am very upset because as a mum I want my babies to be happy gurgling bundles - not doubled up with wind and screaming. Something worked for us and I innocently wanted to share - and I've been made to feel rotten about it.

GhoulsAreLoud · 16/10/2009 21:03

I understand Shmauskin. I think you need to have this conversation with MNHQ though, rather than on this board.

Good luck.

Email address is here: [email protected].

Or maybe click the exclamation mark next to your OP to bring it to their attention? That might be quicker.

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 21:07

lockets - Because it's being insinuated that I have been paid to recommend a brand of bloody formula and that my post was made up advertising blurb.

OP posts:
ilovemydogandmrobama · 16/10/2009 21:09

With respect, think you may be taking this way too personally. There is legislation about advertising formula, and while this may not have been your intention, to post specifically about a brand could be viewed as advertising.

For instance, if I posted, (NAMED CIGARETTE BRAND) HAVE LESS TAR.... then it would also be advertising.

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 21:10

someone just posted about SMA - will they be removed too?

OP posts:
JustAnotherManicMummy · 16/10/2009 21:10

I think you are being a bit melodramtic.

So you started a thread on a public internet forum where you tell us how formula has helped your 13 week old babies. And it got pulled because it is illegal to promote formula in the UK for babies under 6 mo.

It is not the end of the world.

Fruitbatlings · 16/10/2009 21:12

Schmauskin

It's such a shame because some babies need to have formula. In my case, for instance, I actually can't produce milk due to PCOS causing my breasts to be underdeveloped really It would be useful (for me) to know which formula brands are better than others.

I have found, since putting DS2 on Cow and Gate, he hasn't been sick nearly as much as he was when on Aptamil. A lot of women I know agree.
This would be useful information for MNers who give their babies formula (especially those who are like me and physically cannot produce enough milk - and yes, it happens) but I feel like I can't share it - a real shame.

GhoulsAreLoud · 16/10/2009 21:12

I've reported to your HQ asking them if they can give you an answer Schmauskin.

Try not to worry too much about it.

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 21:15

Fruitbatlings - EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My little girl twin was puking a lot on Aptamil and hasn't on the Cow & Gate. All babes are different but it's very helpful to know about others experiences so you can try and solve your little ones problems.

OP posts:
llaregguBOO · 16/10/2009 21:18

It isn't really a ground-breaking revelation though, is it? But you really are OTT on this.

GhoulsAreLoud · 16/10/2009 21:19

Come on chaps, give her a break.
