WHY HAS MY POST ABOUT COW & GATE COMFORT FIRST MILK BEEN REMOVED?????

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 20:09

Just sharing the fact that it has really helped one of my twins sore tummy - I thought it was ggod to share tips but mumsnet seems to have removed my post???!!! Very vexed at this, as it does not seem in the spirit of the site. Sorry I bothered to write considering the limited time I have available whilst caring for my 13 week old twins and 5 year old.....

llaregguBOO - It might not be to you, but it is for me and the well being of my babies.

Fruitbatlings · 16/10/2009 21:20

It's a shame no one told me about this when DS1 was a baby. He was such a sicky baby - projectile mostly.
I wish I'd known back then to swap to Cow and Gate! I only found out it was better as the shop had no Aptamil. I stuck with C&G as you're not supposed to change formula brands too often and, low and behold, no throwing up

lonelyoldmadmoodluminchat · 16/10/2009 21:21

I agree that MNHQ should have contacted you re the deleted post. And, as someone who had a nightmare finding the right formula after being unable to breastfeed, I sympathise with your situation.

But, no-one actually on this thread physically deleted your post. They've just given you reasons, why, potentially, your post was deleted and all you've done is flounce and send us a link to show us who you are? That really doesn't help. I could do the same, but it doesn't make my story any stronger..

If I were you, I would calm down, and as other posters have said -take it up with mn and not with the other posters on this thread.

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 21:22

Fruitbatlings - I breastfed my first dd for 7.5 months so I'm not at all experienced with formula - any info about it has been very gratefully recieved.

OP posts:
Fruitbatlings · 16/10/2009 21:26

wow Schmauskin - I'm so . I'd give anything to breastfeed my babies
Still, I'm lucky to have any children at all and thank heavens for formula! Or I'd be hounding friends with newborns for all their breastmilk

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 21:26

Why are so many of you making such rude personal attacks? Accusing me of flouncing etc. I WAS JUST TRYING TO HELP by passing on something that worked for me .

OP posts:
PlantASeedWatchItGrow · 16/10/2009 21:26

It was me that just posted about SMA staydown.

I hope it won't be deleted as the OP asked for advise about this for her DS who has reflux, I just stated that my DD was put on it and it helped. I wasn't advertising it, it is on prescription for babies who cannot keep milk down. I think that is different from your post. (Although I didn't actually get to see your original post, so I may be wrong)

I can understand why you are a bit upset, but MNHQ aren't to know who you are, just that the words you used weren't allowed on this site, thats all.

foxinsocks · 16/10/2009 21:27

how strange

didn't see the post myself but sure I have bleated on about Nutramigen as mine had to have that due to allergies.

it's hard sometimes not to take things like this personally, but try not to .

lonelyoldmadmoodluminchat · 16/10/2009 21:30

But, to be accused of flouncing, one has to flounce? And surely "Goodbye and Goodnight Mumsnet" is a flounce?

I don't want to get technical here, but being accused of flouncing is not a personal attack, more a statement of fact.

As you were.

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 21:32

Much as I hate to tear myself away from more personal abuse, I have to go and do the 10.00pm feed with the incredible, miraculous, (allegedly) Cow & Gate Comfort First.
Maybe I should just top them up with some 'eye of newt and toe of frog' - I'd get less flack.

Schmauskin we did send an email to your registered address earlier today - perhaps this is no longer valid? - would you email us at [email protected] and we'll re-send. We received several complaints and we were concerned about your motives in the earlier thread, particularly after the recent spate of spamming. We're sorry if this wasn't your intention - we admit we don't always get things right! Do send us your correct email address and we'll forward the email.

Ahh, see just going bye the rule 'Better to be safe than sorry'

And you got an apology!

Schmauskin · 16/10/2009 21:44

RachelMumsnet - You have my correct email address ( I just checked MyMumsnet details) but I received no message from you.

My intentions were completely genuine and my post was made to share my experience just in case it would be of help to others.

I dont understand why it is illegal to advertise infant formula but it is legal to advertise alcohol, what a strange country we live in!

What Poison said.

JollyPirate · 16/10/2009 22:02

Cow and Gate milks DO seem to be suiting some babies very well. The company provide a lot of gumph to midwives and HVs (if they can get to them) about pre and pro-biotics. I am not sure if this is the reason babies seem more comfortable on their milks. In my day it was Farley's first milk which was good.
I asked a C+G rep once why no other baby milk had all these pre and probiotics in and she said it was because C+G had done the research and wouldn't sell it to anyone else.

I remember trying SMA Staydown with my DS as he was a really sicky baby but I couldn't stand the smell of the formula. Farley's was the final straw and I didn't look back. I guess with formula some suit some babies better than others.
Glad you've found one that settles your baby Schmauskin.

JollyPirate · 16/10/2009 22:05

There's a bit of a difference between alcohol and baby formula MrsJiggle although I do recall DH suggesting we add Advocat to DS's bottle one night as DS was a "wake in the night" baby till 10 months. Needless to say I did not allow this.

SCARYspicemonster · 16/10/2009 22:29

You do realise that Cow & Gate also make Aptamil don't you? So, different? Not entirely sure.

Incidentally, they got shit from the ASA for making misleading claims a few months ago. Not really surprising that the thread got pulled.

JustAnotherManicMummy · 16/10/2009 22:31

And Farleys is Heinz. I think.

Fruitbatlings · 16/10/2009 22:37

Scaryspicemonster - That's really interesting about C&G and Aptamil. I actually didn't know that. They are obviously made very differently as it was definitely the Aptamil making my DC's sick and C&G has really helped

edam · 16/10/2009 22:37

"why no other baby milk had all these pre and probiotics" really? What makes you think other manufacturers don't include similar ingredients?

Bollocks to 'C&G have done the research and won't share', sounds entirely made up by that rep. Like other brands aren't capable of sticking some fibre in a recipe all by themselves!

SCARYspicemonster · 16/10/2009 22:51

I've just looked on the Nutricia website (who make C&G and Aptamil) and you have to click on a link to access info about their formula milk which says something along the lines of (this is the aptamil wording but it's the same for C&G): By clicking the ?Continue? button below, you will be able to view information about Aptamil infant milks and other products. If you choose to proceed, you are accepting that Aptamil is supplying this information at your individual request for information purposes.
Demonstrating exactly why the thread got pulled. You are not allowed to advertise formula. However well meaning you may have been.
