LOL something i heard today from an older lady to a new mummy!! She was saying she did try and BF baby but found she wasnt producing enough so was expressing to get her levels up but commented shes now FF. Lady said "oh well SMAs the sme as BM anyway" it took all my control not to go into a hissy fit
was also concerned as mum of LO said she has tried 3 different types of milk!

It'd just be nice if you could enjoy the third trimester, huh?

Oh no! I wasn't trying to stir, was just trying to help by letting SGC know what it tastes like, I was surprised it was ok actually but as you say sgc you had a different milk. Ds has also been prescribed his, he's 15lb at 9 mo

SparklyGothKat · 08/08/2008 13:54

Dalry, Callum is 10.5 months and 16lb

ilovemydog · 08/08/2008 13:58

sparkly - what is 'failure to thrive?'

SparklyGothKat · 08/08/2008 14:01

Callum didn't gain weight, he was born weighing 4lb 8oz, came home at 4lb 5oz and stayed static for about a month, then very slowly gained weight. He was 5lb at xmas and was 3 months old then. He dropped through the lines, from the 50th percentile to below the 0.4th. He needed formula to get his weight going

ilovemydog · 08/08/2008 14:04

Sparkly - my DS is slow to put weight on, although gained an entire pound in past 10 days . Fine line, isn't it on failure to thrive and being on 4th percentile?

BouncingTurtle · 08/08/2008 14:07

I thought the SMA smelt vile.

HiPP organic smells nice though

Dalrymps · 08/08/2008 21:54

SGC - bet they'd look cute playing together , Dylan has a check up with the paediatrician in sept. He was born 9th centile and is now 0.4th so alway been small, grew ok till 8 weeks then just slowed down, has taken until 3 weeks ago to get the milk though! Your ds looks so sweet in that pic with the dishwasher

SparklyGothKat · 09/08/2008 00:04

Dalry, Callum has an appointment on tuesday with the paed. I am dreading it as he always goes on about his weight Last time he told me to increase his solids to increase his weight, he is on 3 meals a days, plus snacks now and still only gaining 1-2oz a week..

Dalrymps · 09/08/2008 07:46

SGC - It's so worrying a frustrating isn't it. I saw a dietician too who made lots of high calorie food suggestion but he's so fussy he'll hardly eat any of them and now he's got a stomach bug and all he'll eat this week is baby rice with fruit . Hope your app goes ok, you know Callum best so just tell the paed how it is!

ilovemydog · 09/08/2008 08:05

Have asked for DS to be referred as I want him checked. what happens at the paeds appt?

Dalrymps · 09/08/2008 08:15

Well at mine he just listened to his heart, felt his tummy, check his balls, looked in his eyes, basically just checked him over like a normal doc. He also asked what he eats and if we have any probs with him, then checked where he was on the chart for weight and hieght and measured his head and checked that against the other measurements. He asked how Dylan was in himself and he was weighed at the start of the appointment too. He said he had no major concerns but that thw dietician may be able to suggest something (she prescribed the high cal milk), we have another appointment in sept for him to see how he's doing HTH
