Breast Feeding on Coronation Street - Negative ?

Did anyone see it last night. Shaun talking about his new baby and Violet breast feeding ?
I admit I wasn't paying total attention, so may have missed bits, but it seemed really negative.
Same old, same old. When are we going to have a postive storyline ?

i haven't read the thread (it seemed to get a bit repetitive in the middle) but i know that on the soaps they are limited to the amount of characters they can have smoking because of the public health issues.

if you think about a RL pub beside a market or in w/c areas, currently half the clientele are standing outside having a fag, but that is deliberately not reflected in the soaps. i think i've only seen Pat smoking in recent memory, in fact, which is strange considering how many scenes take place on home sets, so the person would be completely at liberty to light up.
did Jack smoke constantly through vera's funeral? i didn't see it but the character would've done so they may have made an exception.
seems to me that bfing is another public health issue and should be treated the same - stands to reason...

Hmm, sounds usual for what happens in RL tbh, people do moan about women 'flopping' their tits out, men do sometimes feel left out by breastfeeding. What's important is if Corrie deal with these issues, show Sean bonding in other ways, make Lauren a supporter of Violet etc (is Lauren her sister??)

this is the only place for feedback I can find, but I'm sure if corrie get enough people questionning it they'll think about it. They are a popular soap afetr all, it matters what the public think.

Something else I'm going to mention when I email is the helplines page on the site, they have many helplines they could add a BF one to it quite easily.

PrincessHunker can't be blamed for her loyal subjects applauding her every command, I mean comment. I do, your royal highness, agree with every word you said and want to know what moisturiser you use - but that's another thread.

I was very disappointed at the bf scene in Corrie. Not only did I think it very negative about bf but Sean had been busy reading up about what was best for the baby while Violet was preggers - did none of those books cover after the baby was born? I agree he probably would have bought a pump.

Has anyone from a bfing organisation tried writing to soaps suggesting the merits of a more favourable bf storyline? I'm sure if Maria bfeeds it should raise the male demographic - I know my dh will be watching .

i thought the comments about bf in public, and flopping them out was downright rude and unacceptable, i know i found it difficly to bf when certain people where around [the sort that think bf is flaunting it etc!]and to start off with in public, for many women this is the sole reason that they don't bf.

corrie, you've let us and yourseleves down with this big stinking pile of shit, i hope your gonna turn it around and show some support to us mums and show a positive or at least an ok bf experience, with violet or maria.
or at the very least cut the flopping em out type comments

totally agree with the fact that years ago people on tv, would make allsorts of outrageous racist comments in the past,thankfully that has now changed so i hold out in hope it will become socially unacceptable when people are slatting bf in public.....although i don't hold my breath!
