Did you have any health implications at all whilst growing up up until now?

OP posts:
MarianneUnfaithful · 15/07/2021 19:08

I was, so were my siblings.

No health implications, we are all exceptionally fit and healthy, aged 55 - 64.

2 of us get hay fever (but so do my kids who were breast fed til 18m).

AperolWhore · 15/07/2021 19:08

Fully formula fed healthy 35 year olds here 🤷🏼‍♀️ Apparently I was a greedy baby and fed every 3 hours until I was 2, my poor mum haha but yes very healthy, fit adult.

MarianneUnfaithful · 15/07/2021 19:10

I was also formula fed when formula was less sophisticated than it is now.

And we were weaned from 3m, given rusks, gripe water (I think alcoholic), orange juice, had mountains of sugar on our cereal from toddlerhood…

FizzyBiscuits · 15/07/2021 19:10

Yep. Dsis and I Both FF. Both have stomach/bowel issues. Sis is gluten/wheat intolerant and I suspect I am too but no diagnosis yet.

delilahbucket · 15/07/2021 19:12

I was, my two siblings weren't. No difference in my health to theirs, if anything my older sisters health is absolutely shocking, but that is mostly self inflicted.

ladygindiva · 15/07/2021 19:13

yes , me and my brother, born in 70s, mum just didn't fancy breastfeeding. ..we are and always have been extremely healthy and my immune system absolutely rocks. Both well above average academically too without wishing to sound arrogant, in fact my brother's practically a genius.

PennyDreadful66 · 15/07/2021 19:14

I was FF and no health issues, so was DH and he's fine. His brother was BF and he has health issues, don't know if it's related or not.

stargirl1701 · 15/07/2021 19:15

I was FF.

I have asthma, hay fever, IBS and allergies.

Early weaned too at 12 weeks with rusks. Whisky rubbed on gums to alleviate teething pain.

My DD1 was mix fed. She has hay fever and food allergies.

My DD2 had 11 food allergies but I was able to re-introduce them into my diet over the years and she out grew all 11. She self weaned at nearly 6 years old.

rooarsome · 15/07/2021 19:15

Me! My immune system is shocking and I have IBS. My sister was also FF and is absolutely fine

LeanneBrownsLonelyBraincell · 15/07/2021 19:16

I was. Apparently only hippies used to breastfeed when I was born according to my mother

CatCup · 15/07/2021 19:17

I was FF from day 1. No health issues. Academic route and a secure professional role. Strong immune system too.

Parky04 · 15/07/2021 19:18

FF from birth and i am a healthy 49 year old. Haven't been to the doctors in over 20 years and haven't had a sick day in over 25 years.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 15/07/2021 19:19

Me ! I've always been super healthy until peri menopause ( I'm 46 ) and everything is falling apart haha

Teenyton · 15/07/2021 19:20

Fully formula fed healthy 40 year old. Not even 1 day I was breastfed.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 15/07/2021 19:20

DH was 100% formula fed. He's irritatingly healthy - never gets ill and isn't allergic to anything.

I was EBF for 6 months and I have a crappy immune system, had childhood asthma and have terrible eczema even as an adult coupled with the world's most sensitive skin. And I get horrible hayfever.

BarefootHippieChick · 15/07/2021 19:21

Formula fed here in the 70s and no health problems.
I breastfed one of mine who now has every allergy going and picks up bugs left, right and centre. Formula fed the other who is healthy as an ox.

Teenyton · 15/07/2021 19:21

Also academic route...

SilverGlassHare · 15/07/2021 19:22

Me. Not the best health because of a genetic condition, but zero allergies or intolerances, as far as I know. Saying that, I do have GERD though.

DH too and he’s in tip-top physical condition.

alexdgr8 · 15/07/2021 19:23

it was the absolute norm in the western world when i was born, also siblings, so yes, we were all bottle fed.
as was every other baby mostly. except for a few la leche leaguers.
so you could look at cohorts from about ? 1945 to 1970 ?
i'm guessing, but if there was some major drawback, i think it would have been noticed in those vast numbers.

WithLoveFromMyselfToYourself · 15/07/2021 19:24

Formula fed in 1970/71.

I wasn’t the healthiest child, I’m smaller than my parents and got thyroid cancer at 12 but I wouldn’t put that down to formula feeding. I think passively smoking at least 40 Senior Service/ Players No 6 Plain a day might not have helped though. Including in the car with the windows shut tight Confused

Nohomemadecandles · 15/07/2021 19:24

Me! My mum has a weird attitude to breasts. She wouldn't entertain the idea of breastfeeding.

I'm early mid 40s. Not been to the doctor barring smears and pregnancy for at least 10 years.
I do have an occasional small patch of eczema on my leg.
Very thankful for good health.

WithLoveFromMyselfToYourself · 15/07/2021 19:25

Oh I do have IBS and have had stomach issues since late teens.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/07/2021 19:26

Terrible eczema ( couldn't use soap / shampoo) - grown out of now

Terrible hayfever -still

Terrible relationship with my mother (gradually improving but will never be close).

But remember that correlation does not equal causation.

SilverGlassHare · 15/07/2021 19:26

I’ve got a PhD too, so my intellect wasn’t adversely affected.

Roselilly36 · 15/07/2021 19:28

I was a FF 1970’s carnation baby, I have Multiple Sclerosis dx at 40, but I doubt it has any bearing on how I was fed as a baby.
